sadly the murder was Donald Dagesse a man who had many many police ties. he was fingered by many people including a women that was harassed on the phone by him. he was never charged and died last year.

Police corruption has always been an embarrassment here in R.I. I believe at one time Rhode Island had the worst political corruption in the country. Although we still have problems, things are a lot different today. Yes this murder had "Bad Cops" written all over it and the murder is solved.

This case exposed major corruption in the Woonsocket PD, as the primary suspect was related to the chief of police in the town. The PD was totally revamped because of this case. Really really scary.

@mlc2005 An article I read claims that Raymond "Beaver" Tempest was framed by the Woonsocket Police for Doreen Picard's murder. Allegedly, the police had reason to believe that a guy named Donald Dagesse was the perpetrator, but chose to protect him and frame an innocent person. However, I don't recall reading in the article that Dagesse was a relative of the Woonsocket police chief. Do you know how the two were related? And were any of these (allegedly) corrupt cops ever prosecuted?
