The potential for some very nice Titans is definitely there. Take 'em back to the manufactorum, flesh out the limbs and heads, detail 'em up, and they should look great!
I appreciate the effort you have gone to to make titans on the cheap, but you seem to miss out the effectiveness of foamboard. £7 of this has made me 2 warhounds, a reaver and a warlord. Which I must say are rather more accurate to the originals
@poip032 it is not a joke, just never finished the armor plating on the last Titan. I was asked to build the least expensive Titan that I could. That was the goal because most people won't get $750 of use from the forge world model. Coming in at around $35 for parts on the last one I built out the skeletal structure of the model. The armor plates which I have never shown because how I warped plastic jar opener could pose dangers in the fumes really makes the last Titan look amazing.
@doremicom Do not be put off by bad comments. I like your enthusiasm, but you need someone to help with detailing and such. It is GREAT considering they are MK1-3 and your first scratch build projects. I actually PLAN to steal your LED light idea for voids and structure points. Work on making them more believable and good luck to you bro!!
@theemporour In tournaments, no. But I have not had any issue using mine in non-tournament games. The middle titan I would not bother bringing, but the other two have been well received.
I've done quite a bit of work on the titan built with pipes (which was only the skeleton of the titan). I might do a video on that when it's 100% done.
Thanks, when I first starting making the titans, I had seen a lot of videos talking about how conversions were allowed in a game if something on the model was a GW part. So I thought, why not make the cockpit be that part. Thanks for the comment.
i saw a rever titan today lol in gw plymouth they guy(stuart) wate to be the new ork mega dred from fw but they sold out so he bout a rever on sunday and it looks awsomme ill buy one one day when i get a better job lol
I really find it cool that you respond to video comments, barely no-one does that. Plus thanks for the excellent vids, especially the tutorials, they taught me how to play the game :)
I try to respond from time to time, it is difficult to keep up with every comment. Thank you for your very nice comment, and I'm really glad that the videos were entertaining and helpful. =)
For flat armor plating, try white kitchen garbage cans. You can "score and snap" it to a very fine precision with a regular craft knife. And It works well with PVC construction.
The new one is coming along nice. I like the idea of pvc pipe for the body's frame. You can really see how far your scratchbuilding skills have come since those other two atrocities.
This has to be the nicest back handed compliment I've ever received. The other two titans were the first things I ever scratch built. Sentimental value galore. But with practice and over time, you do have the opportunity to learn what works and what doesn't work. I'm hopeful that based on how well this comes out it'll help others just starting out. Thanks for the comment.
maybe its not the best looking titan but its a big improvement towards your orther titans so keep it up and i think you will get there after a while :)
oh it's the best looking titan. =) And the price/time spent on it a bargain. I am a big fan of my old college professors teaching, "Perfect is nice, but done is BEAUTIFUL!!!"
I've never seen a reaver titan in person. My friends have, and after looking at the blue one they told me it was about 2 inches too tall, so.... I'm guessing it's about 16" tall. The one I'm working on will be slightly shorter at 15 to 15.5" (depending on the thickness of the armor on top). The base of the model has a diameter of just over 12" (by the way the quotes are inches).
you need to make some round shoulders and neck on it so it looks a lot better atm it looks like the base of body and arms the legs do look finished but thats just my opinion
Thanks for the compliment. The forgeworld titans are beautiful, but I just can't justify the cost. If I was playing an apoc game every day (or even every week), totally worth buying it from forgeworld. But I play apoc about 5 times a year and don't always bring a reaver titan. So I can't justify the expense.
Thanks Ash!!! It's so odd, I was talking about how talented I think your work is to people on Skype and I realized I never subscribed to you.... that's been corrected. Thanks for the compliment.
Very Awsome, cant wait to see it finish! I also scratchbuilt my Reaver Titan with pvc pipes, gardening accessories, hard styro, wood and cities of death pieces. I posted a short video slide show if you wanna see. Again keep it up, I think its gonna look better than mine!
Thank you very much! A definite compliment from you! I was also wondering what color scheme will you be doing for your titan, Black Templars or Tron Templars?
Because the weapons can be unattached, I had to build the light into the weapon attachment itself. To turn the light on and off, you unscrew the plasma gun, and the light switch is on the backside of the Plasma Blastgun. When you attach it back onto the reaver titan, the switch hides in the reaver titan's arm.
I went to the dollar store (again trying to keep this thing in a reasonable budget), and saw it translucent, and thought.... lit up, that would look cool. Added some green stuff and ta da.... plasma blastgun. Add to this the fact that it fit fairly close to the opening of the weapon hand joint (that screws onto the base reaver titan). How can you go wrong? It's kind of funny that you notice this a lot more because you probably play them in school.
The potential for some very nice Titans is definitely there. Take 'em back to the manufactorum, flesh out the limbs and heads, detail 'em up, and they should look great!
