@zpj91 As I'm sure someone else has told you by now, this is a 5.56mm rifle. The Surefire magazines are only for 5.56mm. Assuming it's M193, it cost about $20 for that mag dump.
@grumpy165 Well actually we don't...but the .gov doesn't care. Still though...these new carbines are a mediocre improvement. We only really need a serious improvement in Afghanistan where range is an issue. Also someone needs to chime in and confirm the caliber of this one because @zpj91 is wrong it comes in both calibers.
@Weapon01 Exactly...we have the money...but it belongs to the Chinese mostly. :P (to throw a little humor into this conversation i've learned a bit of Chinese recently actually. Mao means cat. Google "Chairman Meow" ahhh good stuff.)
@grumpy165 It's technology is not outdated. Someone could have designed the M16 NOW and it would still be considered modern. Small arms in general are a mature technology, there aren't going to be big quantum leaps like going from the M1903 to the M1 Garand or the M14 to the M16. They should just concentrate on incremental improvements to ammunition. Look how much of a difference going from M855 to Mk 318 and M855A1 have made.

The U.S army should dump the M16 and M4 and adopt this weapon.

@grumpy165 Why?
busterbob24 8 months ago
@busterbob24
There are many reasons but mainly because the M4/16 lacks stopping power and its technology is outdated.

@grumpy165 Not a big enough improvement to justify the tax dollars we don't even have.

@busterbob24
Well we have enough tax dollars to get these brand new Multi million dollar aircraft but not enough to provide our troops with quality weapons?
