I miss it. I spent my childhood there for all of the home games. It's... Not the same. I love the Tigers, but I learned baseball, how to cheer and chant, and everything from how much mustard to put on a dog to making a noise that my dad used to yell at me for. This was MY stadium, Comerica isn't remotely close. I can't even watch that eminem song without tearing up.
@sativadivinorum I remember pops taking us to Tiger Stadium on a regular basis back in the 60'2 and 70's. I left Michigan 20 yrs ago and now live in Denver but I'll never forget the old place. I remember after the game, we'd go down the street to White Castle and or drive around Belle Isle, or whatever.
I really don't miss Detroit, but I do miss Tiger Stadium.
wish they would have made comerica somewhat resemble tiger stadium. you were so close to the game and completely engulfed by the ballpark. comerica is just too open air and the seating is flat and far from the game. tiger stadium was falling apart and it would have cost more to repair then build a new stadium. with the joe, they can tear that thing down. i would love to have three stadiums right next to eachother.
Comerica Park is awful. It disconnects the fans from the actual game and fucuses more on ferris wheels and outrageous priced food. I wish I was born back when I could go to more Tiger Stadium games. I blame Mike Illitch. He ruined one landmark, and hes about to do it to the Joe. He has no respect for Detroit Sports History.
it sure does. its not tiger stadium, no, but it has that feel to it now. gets a little stronger every year. someday, when the tigers move into another ball park, we will regale in tales of days spent at comerica park.
A lot of happy memories seeing maybe 50 games from 1970 to 1999 .. What is it about Michigan political leaders that makes so many of them, not all of course, so many of them so corrupt and stupid such as to demolish Tiger Stadium .. I do like the new park though .
Born and raised in The D. I have moved on to North Carolina but I came home in July 09' and pretty much saw the end of the demo. Walking on the foot bridge and seeing just behind home plate and right field remaining broke my heart.
Is it weird for a grown man to cry over a building being destroyed?
Now I know how my Father felt when Olympia was torn down in the 80's. I was there by his side for that. My son was by mine in August.
Greatest baseball stadium I been to, with all the history and quirks it was just a comfortable and great place to watch a baseball game. Coming through the tunnel and seeing the green grass it was such a beautiful site. City of Detroit are scum bags and do not respect history.

Will never forget the first time walking through the stands at age 9 to the view of the most beautiful field in baseball. PRICELESS!
