(if youre smart enough you will get) second question: he didnt crashed himself, he hit another bike while braking. yep every racer crashes, good bikers crashes when they have no escape, bad bikers crashes because cant brake when get distracted by a camera. i have only a question to you. Did you have rode a motorbike before? i mean one with that same piloting behavior.

It has nothing to do with fliking the pilot over the bars.... he is usualy flicked over the bike in high sides, and under the bike in low sides... hope i've been helpfull

The guy in front was waving so they were most likely on a slow down lap for whatever session just ended. The guy who crashed wasn't going way faster than the first guy and that was a really weird crash so something probably failed on his bike causing the rear wheel to lock up. It broke away as he leaned into the turn then didn't regrip as he leaned to the other side so something was wrong. Going that slow and using the rear brake to slide your rear wheel won't make your bike go crazy like that.

its obvious how it happened. the guy in front who had his hand up was going slower than he was expecting so he tried braking harder and locked the rear causing it to slide to the left so he tried turning left to catch it but it high sided him. and thats not an airbag jacket because it has a hump - alot of one piece suits have this race hump mainly for aerodynamics and also for storing water bottle to drink from. hope this clears things up for alot of people :)

@martin3031 i suppose it can soften a blow to the upper back but infact its been found that it can cause more damage in the case of a neck or back injury because it stops you lying straight on your back which means the neck isnt supported properly and the back is bent which isnt the best position when you have these injuries.

@bomaoneuk Rossi uses only the front brake, as well as most other racers, moto gp, superbike whatever.

The rear brake is used by a small percent of racers who actually slide the rear with the rear brake and not with engine braking, but most of them use the engine to initiate an "on purpose" rear slide. So yes, you CAN REALLY win a motorcycle race using one brake, as long as it's the front :)

@Jicba87 AFAIK it's impossible to step the rear out with a full race bike these days because they all use slipper clutches which means they can jam the thing down in to any gear they want before they reach the apex of the corner and the clutch 'slips' to stop the rear locking up. It would be very easy to get the rear to step out just by very hard front braking, the rear goes light or lifts off the road completely, then it's easy to slide it as traction has been broken...

@Sema4UK It's true that the rear does not lock because of the slipper clutch. But sliding the rear does not require the rear tire to lock up, it's enough to be engaged in gear with high revs and the engine really applies braking in the rear, that combined with hard front brake is enough to start the rear sliding.By the time the bike is leaned the revs are down, you slided the rear a bit, turned the bike and that's that. All that without touching the rear brake. Of course some use it, some don't.

@bomaoneuk If you do that the whole race you aren't going go win except if you are a good second or so faster than the other guys on the track... Also increases the wear of your front tire as well as not helping you with angles coming into a turn. Pro's use the back break for that quite a lot.

i took a spill running with a kz 1000 on a wheelie for a telephone pole in 1st gear up to like 40 mph+ when i finally let go and came to a violent rolling stop with jeans and t shirt / helmet I was amazed to find I just had some minnor rash on my lower back.....

But then 10 min. later we went to throw horse shoes and I realized my fibula was cracked up high near my knee. it healed itself in 8 weeks I was almost on the bike like 4 times but it was strecthed and i just couldnt get it
