@Gary190tube - while it's true that in the present economy (at least in the US) more women than men have managed to hold on to their jobs, I am sorry to report that the wage difference is still about $1 men / $0.73 women, so "women are paid less than men" appears to be prevalent all over the world.
@Gary190tube - while it's true that in the present economy (at least in the US) more women than men have managed to hold on to their jobs and statistically more men have lost/been laid off their jobs, I am sorry to report that the wage difference is still approx $1 men / $0.77 women, so "women are paid less than men" appears to be prevalent all over the world.

@dianevxx ....so if you have a part-time female worker sitting next to a full-time male worker, it's very possible that she will be paid quite a lot less than him (and vice-versa).
I would argue that part-time workers should be paid the same per hour as full-time...not because of the male/female thing, but because it just seems fairer to me. An hour's work is an hour's work after all!
The reasons that employers pay part-time workers less is down to economics and isn't to do with sexism.
@dianevxx not quite....when they compile the statistics they mix full-time and part-time jobs in the same measurement. Those kinds of work have different pay rates.
Women work much more in part-time jobs than men do because it is convenient for them (it's a "lifestyle choice"). Part-time work pays less than full-time and that is where the difference is.
Also men tend to have more experience because they don't take time off for children. More experience means more pay in many jobs.

its not the bloody finnish language that difficult to learn, its the bloody finns that don't want to share their language with speakers of other languages
@USCSoundCheck The Finnish phrase used here, "on se niin väärin" actually translates closer to "it is so wrong". It's the same word you use in an argument telling someone they're in the wrong (väärässä).
I just moved to Finland in March 2010 and I found out this is ALL true. The bladdy language difficulties, cor! Well done and clever. Thank you to the Helsinki Complaints Choir. I do love Finland but it's always six-of-one and half-dozen of the other, anywhere. Zigmund Void Approved.
Haha! Well these are serious problems indeed! (I love the part about the ancestors choosinng a sunnier place). Many likes for the song and music and you people there in Finland stop complaing about the sun ;) my ancestors chose a sunnier place to live and believe me life here at the moment isn't at all better! Greetings from Greece!
@littleone095 yeah, it's all relative :) And it's true, Hungarian people are pretty nice. Going back to teh topic - even though Finnish & Hungarian are from the same language family, I don't really think they sound the same (kill me if I'm wrong!). There's such a similarity between them like between Polish & German:D Finnish & Hungarian have got only about 200 words in common :)
@tnesp Or then it might be telling about the (young) mens reluctance to be in a choir. Also I believe that for men it is not as socially acceptable to complain as it is for women. Isn't the general opinion - especially here in Finland - that men should be macho, rather than pathetic whiny wussies?
All in all, complaining is the human nature, age or gender does nothing to stop the behaviour.
Quite the same thing really. "On se niin väärin" would also be more like "It's so wrong" than "It's not fair", but the meaning comes trough all the same, so what's it matter? :I
I'd like to congratulate u for this great job it's very modern way to complain I wish can see a choir like yours in my country Morocco. I ve been in Finland it's peacefull ,tranparent, just, highly advanced beautifull scenries but what I couldn't understand is that Finland is looking like a sad lady...excuse me guys but it's that what I felt and saw on finns's faces too...So You can tell me why or if I'am wrong u explain to me please....Bye the way ur language sounds great hyvä MInun Lempi
@pauldve if you happened to be in Finland (like me), you would have notice that escalators in Helsinki metro are ridiculously long. People always stand on the right so that others can actually run up and down of those things. Which makes sense, though, 'cause I also don't want to waste some 3 minutes of my life just standing on some random escalator LOL
I also think this is the best of the complaints choirs, both musically and lyrically. I like it a lot better when the complaints are small and petty. There's enough choral music out there about big philosophical issues; what makes the complaints choir concept great is the juxtaposition of these silly little problems with the "high-art" musical format.
This has always been my favorite and, in my opinion, the best of all the complaint choirs. Music is catchy, yet has depth and some interesting change-ups. The video is shot well and the collection of complaints is cleverly strung together.

Well, I'm a Finn and I don't care about those things either. Some of the other complaints are a bit weird to me too, like the daily paper being too thick ;-)
Seems to be a mix of serious (even sad) and funny, more trivial, complaints.
Thanks (kiitos). I think that you are first one who likes Finnish. Most of people think that Finnish is difficult to learn. If you speak English I can understand because we have ä and ö letters.
About those probles in that song I think that they are problems of people who lives in Helsinki.
Aina hävitään Ruotsille lätkässä ja Euroviisuissa. Joulutavaran myynti alkaa joka vuosi aikaisemmin. Miksi toiset eivät ole samaa mieltä minun kanssani? Työpaikat katoavat Kiinaan, kolmosessa haisee kusi.

Well, I'm a Finn and I don't care about those things either. Some of the other complaints are a bit weird to me too, like the daily paper being too thick ;-)
Seems to be a mix of serious (even sad) and funny, more trivial, complaints.

Aside from all your problems in Finland, you have a hell of a sexy language! ;-)

Thanks (kiitos). I think that you are first one who likes Finnish. Most of people think that Finnish is difficult to learn. If you speak English I can understand because we have ä and ö letters.
About those probles in that song I think that they are problems of people who lives in Helsinki.

Sorry it took so long ^^'. Lyrics:
Töitä tekemällä ei rikastu
eikä rakkaus kestä ikuisesti.
Eikä uimahallin saunassa kysytä lupaa löylyn heittämiseen.
Vanhoista metsistä tehdään vessapaperia
silti vessoista on aina paperi lopussa.
Miksi halpatavara ajaa kansan hulluksi?
Helsingin keskelle kohosi taas ostoshelvetti.
Naapuri kurkkii ovisilmästä kun luokseni tulee vieraita ja tulee etuajassa saunavuoroonsa.

Chorus:
Aina hävitään Ruotsille lätkässä ja Euroviisuissa. Joulutavaran myynti alkaa joka vuosi aikaisemmin. Miksi toiset eivät ole samaa mieltä minun kanssani? Työpaikat katoavat Kiinaan, kolmosessa haisee kusi.
On se niin väärin! x4

Miksi metripitsa on vain puoli metriä pitkä? Imurin piuha on liian lyhyt

saa paketillisen lautoja.
On nenäliinat liian kovia
ja hukassa kun aivastuttaa.
Sukkahousut valuvat kävellessä.
Edessäni on aina pitkä mies.
Töissä taputetaan olalle- ja puukotetaan selkään.

Chorus:
Uneni ovat tylsiä.
Viitenumerot liian pitkiä.
Naiset saavat edelleenkin miehiä huonompaa palkkaa.
Paskanpuhujat menestyy liian hyvin elämässä.
Hesari on liian paksu.
Miksi aina juuri minä?
On se niin väärin x4

Hammaslääkäriin on puolen vuoden jono.
Sen jälkeen hampaan voikin poistaa kokonaan.
Kaunis paita värjäytyy pesussa
mutta ruma ei.
Ei aikaa Reilun Kaupan tuotteille
kiire sinne missä ne kasvaa.
Lööppejä ei pääse karkuun.
Aina on väärä sää.
En koskaan saa tarpeeksi...
Repeat first chorus.
