Cool use of a air freshener.. That said, just attach the string of the popper to the wall frame and the popper to the door. Better yet just modify a cheap "RAT" trap to make a louder noise. You could duck tape a 1 cup to the motion arm, it would be louder and lower then the normal snap. For added effect you could put confetti in the measuring cup . I do love your videos, just thought I would add a low tech solution.

A similar but much easier trick that I did last year is to tape a balloon to the wall and fix a needle on the door so that when the door approaches fully open the needle will pop the balloon. This will only work with doors that open with the person, so if the person is in the room it has to open out and vice versa. The only difficult part is getting the needle on the door, the easiest way is getting a needle that bends easily and taping the straight part to the door.
