I always remember the commentary, 'and Tony Currie milks the applause'. I was 8 when I saw this, and even as an Arsenal supporter I remembered this astonishing goal to this day.
I'm really annoyed because any clown in any division who can stand on one foot and trap a bag of cement can score goals like this at least twice a season, so light have they made the ball.
There was a time, whether it be this gorgeous goal, Hoddles first for England, or Brady's against Spurs, when hitting a ball with such artistry meant something... it was the preserve of footballing ARTISTS.
i was in the kop half way up right behind the goal and the camera angle does not do justice to the amount of curve on the ball,i have not seen as much bend on a ball since at a live game
I was there as an 8 year old. Strange, but I always thought he'd hit it with his left foot. As a fan, I was gutted when he went to QPR. I remember it was down to his wife's wish to return to London. "Tony Tony Currie etc".
Hahaha....TC's banana goal....it's on youtube!....football special on Sunday afternoons with Fred Dinage....then of down the rec for a kick about before having to get back for the weekly bath (school next day). Thanks for posting.
He also scored a superb goal against Arsenal when Brady also scored in a classic game, think it finsihed 1-1, anyone seen a video of that? TC was the best.
just though I'd see if this goal was on as I saw TC on Look North tonight with Pele and remembered this pearler....i was always TC in the school playground and even when we sold him to QPR my mam bought me a QPR kit??? Wore it in the garden like!! TC a class act.
he also scored a great goal from a free kick about 50 yards it cought the wind and curved around the keeper but can not rember what game or the year could be 1978 any help would love to see it again.
THANKS !!! I have waited 29 years to see this again - I have bored friends family and now my kids for so long now about the greatest goal ever scored. TC - Leeds legend - come back, we need you now !
With LEEDS UNITED, QUEENS PARK RANGERS... ENGLAND. He was one of the great midfielder in English football in 70´s and early of the 80´s. Thanks TONY CURRIE!

I remember that game... opening day of the season at Highbury. Currie scored from the acutest of angles almost on the touchline.
