  • I gave up playin college ball because I was trying to go past my limit squatting, don't make the same mistake. If you have shit form, you arent doing anything but increasing your risk of injury. You'll get there before you know it and remember, form is way more important than weight. I'm not an old man by the way, I'm only 20.

  • @mlypowy Like the belt is going to help him lift the weight? If you're lifting heavy like that, you use a belt to keep your back from curving. Obviously, you've never squatted more than 135.

  • @saulhudson420 The belt allows a lifer to keep a tighter core, which in turn allows for better form. This in turn allows them to apply the strength more efficiently and move more weight.

    So yes, a belt does help you do more weight when you don't have the core strength or technique to do well without it.

  • People, This is not real. Someone his size cannot walk out 495 pounds that easily, then walk it back that easily after having a difficult time with it. His buddies took plates off it after the camera was positioned. It's 225 pounds.

    Find it yourself jerkoff. I'm sorry i'm questioning Mr. Olympia here. But trust me you armchair trainer. When you lift heavy like that at a young age where your bones are constantly growing, it will damage your bones resulting in inability to grow properly.

    Also if you go parallel, you'll put stress on your knees. Your knees needs the full range of movement pass the parallel point. But you do whatever you want. You'll look back at this day some day

    Look little kid, I took four years of University and graduated with a degree in Kinesiology. I'm a certified trainer. Obviously you're getting body building and strength training mixed up here. But go ahead and do what you do. You'll notice by age 19 you'll wonder why you're still small in stature.

  • @heat4yoass the only way lifting heavy will stunt your growth is if the growth plates are damaged which can come from horrible form and even then the chances are extremely rare unless you're crushed under the weight or something . if you're taught to lift properly there is nothing wrong with lifting heavy. my friend and i have been lifting heavy since the kid in the video has. and neither of us are short in statue. i believe sometimes experience can be a better teacher than a text book.

    Well said and I agree. You clearly pointed out the big difference between body building and strength training. Some kids, mind you, go way over their head and try to lift the whole gym because they see adults do it and they're big. But chances are, you can severely injure yourself that way and like you said, the back disc can get messed up resulting in stunt of growth. You get your main growth by 18 that's why I always tell kids to not lift too heavy, but maintain correct form.

To wit, do a google search for "youth strength training exrx" and you'll find an article on strength training for youths on the exrx website.

    Trust me, go for what you want to do. Don't go for something because of the money or because it sounds good. You get your degree in Kinesiology, get certified in NSCA and other certs and you're golden. You'll get clients left and right anywhere.
