  • the only shaggs song with a beat....

  • its weird to hear a semi accomplished song from the shaggs. still you can't beat my pal foot foot for its sheer brain melting insanity

  • This is specially horrible 2, 3,4

  • @Johnnywhamo this is from 1968 lol...

  • @mofon1 Here's a case where they SHOULD have done drugs, Bawahaaa!

  • @Johnnywhamo lol

  • Charming, really, something innocent to it, too.

  • @residentfan2 Honestly as weird and sometimes horrible as The Shagg's music can be there were clearly no filters placed on the music, which is a very rare thing. It was just a few sisters singing about really innocent stuff with no editing. Pretty interesting stuff

  • Horrible.

  • specialtasticegg

  • HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! lol..

  • @insurgelicious All the tools complaining couldnt write an original, interesting, artistic sounding song if life depended on it. They're "by-the-book", "in the box", linear thinking dullards. I'd like to hear some of their original music. We attack and close ourselves off to things that are different or sound new, odd or strange. I think if you look back at a lot of art, you see the pioneers and true innovators always encounter flack and suspicion at first. Takes time for vindication/recognition

  • Love how the guitar is obviously keeping the singer on key and they don't care!

  • Lol thats so funny

  • this one is easier to digest LOL

  • everyone has start somewhere. 2 Teisco guitars and a marching band drum. But they were doing it and probably loving it.....

  • So horrible, so bad, aweful. Yet I've been listening to them for at least an hour now and can't stop. It's like all these horrible wave forms being played at the same time, but instead of clashing, the net result is a calm surface. Like, a white lightbulb actually emits light at all different wavelengths, all different colors, but we perceive it as a nice calm white light. Meanwhile it's really a mess of garbage? I don't know. It's cool though, I'm happy I stumbled on this stuff :D.

  • great!

  • How the Shaggs can sound so bad and so good at the same time is a question I will take to my grave.

  • This one added a new Idea the hut 234 help's the hoplesly lost drummer stay in tempo But I like them better when They were just runnin wild.

this is what most pop act's these day's would sound like without

technology. These are some of the kid's who Paved the way for act's like the Partridge family and other bubblegum pop acts ...really alot of artist these day's .would be no better without slick studio tricks and onstage slight of hand.

  • For your average musician, this is not too bad. I don't see why some commenters think otherwise.

  • @indigothecat Not to mention they didn't auto-tune or digitally enhance anything.

  • Gots to love The Shaggs !

  • there is nothing special....but can't stop listening this :|

  • I wonder if they knew they were counting out loud.

  • @SFtheWolf Nah, most likely a stylistic choice

  • @SFtheWolf Considering it only happens at the end of one lyric, and they sing "A B C", it must be in the lyrics.

  • something about the guitar intro is very, overwhelmingly sad

  • one of best songs i've heard...

  • i love the 2-3-4

  • easy song to sing in the shower...

  • @thisisDJsan ur so funny ily

  • @magsss519 ily too then :D

  • @thisisDJsan They make it sound so hard.

  • I find the way the singer pronounces words strange.

  • No joke, this song may be the best one they ever did. At least there is some type of discernible meter here. I actually caught myself tapping my foot and shrugging my shoulders a little bit.

  • @Niki116

I guess counting out loud helped with the meter.

  • @Niki116 You're fuckin' stupid. All of their songs are great.

  • I'm so in love with the Shaggs, 2 3 4. The world would be a sadder place without them having graced it with their presence.

  • I laughed out loud at "two three four", almost fell out of my chair at "HUT! two three four"!

  • Gots 2 Luv The Shaggs!

    Hut 2 3 4

  • 2-3-4

  • almost sounds like a song.

  • It's sloppy and unenthusiastic, but it sounds so right.

  • I'm kinda horny, all of a sudden!

  • This song is actually ok and not ear rape like their other songs.

  • @chickensonaspaceship but it's good ear rape

  • Brilliant

  • Zappa was right...this fuckin' rocks!

  • ...........2,3,4

  • not the shaggs

  • MAKE LOVE TO ME FUMPLES!!!

  • @TheCGIMaster ive always known deep down inside me you do!, MAKE LOVE TO ME

  • @TheCGIMaster XDDDDDD

  • this is fucking terrible.

  • This actually sounds good when you just finished listening to My Pal Foot Foot... Maybe that was their plan! They released some awful songs, and then released some okay songs to sound better by camparison!

  • @MrBenSampson 100% agree two three four it's awesome

  • @MrBenSampson some of the instrementals on "shaggs own thing" are actually really good

  • I think they've figured out to count the beats.

  • Shut up

  • This was their poppy "sell out" song. Really pretty song. Hut Two Three Four!

  • count it out rock

read the book WORST ROCK & ROLL RECORDS OF ALL TIME

  • WOW!

  • this is a good song by them.

  • O_O

    What A Fuckin' Fuck

  • Imagine the magic they could have made with Jan Terri :D

  • these lyrics sort of make me want to die, but in a good way. this band is endlessly charming

  • XD XD XD XD XD

  • This is Furtips with You're Something Special to Me.

    NOT THE SHAGGS!

  • The shaggs are the bees KNEES! they RAWK!

  • The shaggs F*****G ROCK love it

  • The only Shaggs song that doesn't suck horribly. Sorry guys. Besides this song they're unlistenable to me.

  • Cheery, cute and innocent as hell. I love it. :3

  • I can definitely hear some Mersyside influence coming through there

  • improved lots~~

  • Outsider music should stay outside.

  • Holy mother of gawd, I love them. I can't imagine what I pay for an original vinyl of this. Serious as hell, yeah.

  • disgusting

  • haha. someone on the internet doesn't understand the shaggs.

  • genius shit

  • in your opinion...sure. not mine though.

  • you know fuck all go and listen to u2 and oasis arse hole

  • this ain't that bad at all...its very unique...they recored stuff in the late 80s i think

  • i thing it was in the 70's.

  • They are geniuses!

  • singer sounds like she's deaf

  • you sound mentally ill but we didnt want to mention it

  • This isn't the song you want to listen to . . . if you really want to appreciate the genius of the Shaggs.

Their earlier, true, and absolute masterpiece is "Philosophy of the World".

You can find it on YouTube (recently been reposted) . . .

  • nothin genius about the shaggs.

  • I totally agree with you their. This sounds too commercialised. My Pal Foot Foot is pure genius!

  • Comment removed

  • i like it, its sweet and cute

  • I take that back. THIS IS THE WORST BAND EVER. DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS. IT WILL SCREW WITH YOUR HEAD.

  • I like this song but honestly you have to be pretty fucked up and unique to enjoy this (or just really high).

  • Great! . . .

  • Was this on the Juno soundtrack?

  • ahhhh!!! fuck my ears!!!!

  • Beautiful song.

  • I like the earlier stuff before the drummer kept a beat.

  • this song makes me just smile

  • Comment removed

  • it's a really nice and sweet song. everybody that doesn't like it shoudl just listen to it a couple of times. scientifically proven that music becomes better the more you listen to it. surely this counts for shaggs, teh more i listen to them, the more i love em!

  • "It's like you have a tumor in your brain"

    ROFL!!! brilliant..

  • Out of tune , poorly produced , naive melody lines , sloppy ... you call this "brilliant" ?!? Know the tale "The emperor's new clothes" ? The emperor is naked , guys !

  • pavement are the same and one of the best bands who ever lived

  • pavement are NOT the same as this pile of bullsh*t man...

  • thats right they arent, but they still adopt the same outside music techniques as this kind of music such as out of tune guitars, simplicity and apparent apathy

  • pavement suck balls next to this

  • absolutely out of tune ,,naive melody lines ....,sloppy...........and brilliant

  • entropia, your dumb. if you can't find joy in something as pure and innocent as a few sisters making up their own songs and recording them then you must have a major stick up your ass. what makes the shaggs so interesting is the fact that their music is completely uncontaminated outsider naive art...it's perplexingly amusing fun!! you must take yourself too seriously...

  • All right , my friend . Go ahead then and find some "pure and innocent joy" at some 3years clanging their mamy's pots .

  • =) not every great musician is a good musician.

  • i think this stuff is great by accident. i love the shaggs!!

  • indefinablenothing, I think you are giving them them benefit of the doubt even calling them musicians in the first place.

  • @EntropiaMusic thats rock/ punk. if you like well produced, well in tune, and perfectly made stuff. listen to bieber. im sure his voice is ever out of tune (say thank you auto tune), excessive production, and deffo not sloppy. everything thoughrouly planned. enjoy.

  • If someone needs to explain why this is brilliant, then there is no point in even bothering.

  • I respect all you're opinions on this song, but I do not see the appeal.

  • What would happen if there was an Ed Wood equivalent in music? And we replace all the D-movie monster effects with cheap instruments?

  • To me this sounds a lot like something Yoko Ono would do. I'm really really hearing Yoko in this song. I wonder if she was influenced by The Shaggs.

  • where i can download this song?

  • What the hell?

  • I like 'my pal foot foot' better...

  • at least this is better than "my pal foot foot"

you have to give them that

    lol

  • "You're something something special to me...."

    ...2,3,4...

  • wow....

  • yes you are :)

  • I'm so tired of people ripping on this band. They were so genuine and sweet.

  • I agree with JoyGrenade. Absolutely no affectation, no artifice, totally authentic. Open your mind as well as your ears.

  • Yeah, I'm sure that's it. Because being open to unconventional music clearly denotes a brain defect.

  • so simple...i like it

  • i agree, this is the best theyve ever done

    which is pretty sad.....

  • ya its pretty good.....jk....but it is the best they have ever done!!!

  • ur a faggot too

  • He's not but your boyfriend is!!

  • This is the closest they got to actual music.

  • A boot camp training song?

    Beyond explanation.

  • I just got back from bootcamp, and they arn't THIS mean to us...

...my ears are being raped but I can't walk away cuz it's too hilarious...

  • hahhaha

  • My favorite song by the Shaggs too.

  • This song is making weep like a little school girl!

  • Wow very interesting.

  • two, three, four

  • after the album "Philosophy of the World" this throws a strange spin on things. as with most bands i think their first album is better than their second. the crossrhythm drumming is gone replaced by an unimaginative marching beat..........

  • Where is this song from? I isen't on "Philosophy of the World"...

    Good song :)

  • It was released on a compilation album called The Shaggs; it was recorded for a second album that never finished.

  • a great song, wonderfully haunting

  • n'importe quoi

  • ...where's the other drummer?...2-3-4...there is something adorably strange about this...

  • This song is actually surprisingly good.

  • Hey anyone know where I can download some stuff by the shaggs, my Philosophy of the World albums scratched to death and I can't find anything on limewire.

  • Try Soulseek ;)

  • i`ll play it when i get married and die...i swear it`s a fantastic and a very special song for me now.

  • the chorus is awesome, a really original melody; the way "you're something special to me" is sung, it starts off almost minor with the "you're something special..." but then hits you with an adorable "...to me" that just makes it all worthwhile, a smile on record. if I could imagine someone saying it, it'd be with downcast eyes at first, but then they look you straight in the eye, that smile glowing with the "to me". brilliant song, really

  • this is the most beautiful, naive song. avant-garde pop-rock.

  • Wow, that was pretty good.

  • I like this.

  • mais komen on peu jouer sa !!!! c dla torture !!!

  • was this an unreleased song? It isn't on their album

  • The CD reissue has tracks from a second session, a year after "Philosophy Of The World". The playing is better in a way, but the magic of the album went.

With all the technical inventions at the hands of the kids today we should have more Shaggs - and all we've got are wonnabe Superstars.

  • this is a lot more accomplished than their first record.. i'm surprised

  • Honestly, for little kids forced to make music, this is decent. Cleaned up a bit and with some different voices, this could be legitimately good.

  • In this time period, that was a common vocal sound for pop-singers, both male and female.

  • The Shaggs are good in a very strange way. No they're not, they're just awful.

  • Original "alternative" music.

  • this is actually borderline "melodic" compared to some stuff they do, they at least kept in time. (hup,2,3,4.)

  • This music is groundbreaking....

... It showed the world that you don't need any talent whatsoever to release music.

It also showed the music industry that no matter what the music they release sounds like, there will always be idiots stupid enough to buy it.

  • Brilliant....

  • IT'S HORRIBLE!!!

  • This is pop music without references. That is something very very special in the music industry, just putting three sisters together and recording what they play. This song is the "best", though.

  • haven't heard this for 25 yrs

nice to see this is on you tube!

I guess I have their record somewhere....have to go to the basement......

  • r u serious with this video? they SUCK. they dont harmonize, they cant sing their crap lyrics and the instrumental part of the song is horrible. y would anyone listen to this?

  • I dunno man. You listened to it. Plus one of their records is worth 300-500 dollars a copy. Maybe you SUCK
