  • Perfection at it's best. Beautiful what a piece of wood, a talented composer and a artist can make for our pleasure.

  • perlman makes it look so easy, so annoying

  • ha! everyone's an expert on youtube but you couldn't half as good as itzhak if your lives depended on it!

  • um.....this isn't the London Festival Orchestra....it's ormandy conducting the philadelphia orchestra.

  • wow. perfect audio quality, perfect video quality.

  • @spacesciatto What's even more perfect is the performance in the video itself :)

  • @spacesciatto I'd have to disagree slightly about the video quality, but it's probably because the camera couldn't handle Perlman

  • As a violinist myself I would die with a smile on my face if I could play this 1/4 as good.

  • To bad such nice music is not made anymore. All we got now is a brat singing lyrics so immature even a toddler mozart composed better.

  • @nopho4uxD your right but i must disagree for this is not just a peice it is a masterpeice, by far my favorite violin concerto of the romantic era if not my favorite of any era

  • @Stitch1137 obviously your teacher knows absolutly nothing! cause no one will ever be as great as Mr.Pearlman. and as jonchengic said you are overly full of yourself! no one in junior high (middle school) is as good as you say you are, because it takes alot of time and alot of learning , but most importantly it takes a lot of practice to become that geat of a violinist thats why hes so old. i fiddle as well but i assure you that no fiddle music will ever be as hard as a classical peice.

  • 7:59 -- Cunninlynguists - Lynguistics !!! ^^

    watch?v=5VtsTW_t9xk

  • @stitch1137 First and foremost, it's not a "song". It's a PIECE. Secondly, you must be a complete idiot to think that Perlman is "nothing "special."

  • like honestly? how is music like this possible? i love playing this piece and just hearing Mr. Perlman makes me want to practice more. stay hesh friends

  • Millions people can play violin, but Mr. Perlman is the best

  • Yes... I fiddle. Fiddling is actually much harder than this classical stuff. And my violin teacher is a world class teacher. He's absolutely incredible. Much better than you I am sure..

  • @Stitch1137 Just from your claiming that Itzhak Perlman, one of the greatest violinists of all time, is "nothing special," you demonstrate that you know nothing about the art of violin. As disdainful as you are about Perlman's playing, he has more talent in his finger than you do in your entire body. Even if you're not classically trained, if you had even an ounce of violin training, you'd appreciate the sublime quality of Perlman's playing; you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @Stitch1137 jesus christ you're so full of yourself

  • Conductor at 6:23... looks dizzy!

  • I'm in junior high and my violin teacher told me that I'm incredible. I can play this song no problem... Idk why all u think he's so incredible... I play it too and I'm like a fraction of his age

  • @Stitch1137 it isn't how you play, is about how you make feel to the people who listen you, and i'm not sure if you're really good about the cadenza that perlman plays.

  • @Stitch1137 umm... I'm sorry to break it to ya but... you know NOTHING about classical music. And I think you should get a different violin teacher. One that's uh trained in classical music...not that fiddling stuff. But dont let me stop you from thinking your great, if it makes you happy.

  • @Stitch1137 record it. then come back

  • @Stitch1137 really? when's your record coming out then? honestly i wouldn't be the least bit impressed with you if you can play this piece because you have no respect for the OGs

  • when was this concert held? I found a CD version of this piece with the same orchestra and conductor recorded in 1985, was this the same recording?

  • for an alternative just as exciting.. Lynguistics of Cunninlynguists (8:00 Itzhak Perlman's sample!!!)

  • I am crying now from the beauty. Excellent work as usual, Dr,Perlman. G-d Bless!

  • Amazing conductor.

  • Not every person can understand the beauty of classical music.....

  • He is so relaxed and play this difficult concerto with such ease! Great job! :)

  • Who is the conductor?

  • @667jaymz Eugene Ormandy.

  • @jelissaviolin Thanks! He kicks (or is it kicked?) ass!

  • @jelissaviolin Cheers

  • Words do not do this justice- if only we could all shut up for a minute! Not only is the piece itself stunning, but this guy- Itzhak- is something else! WOW

  • Well his face says it all: God Damn I love this Piece!

  • This is...undescribably good. The only thing is that they don't show Perlman at 9:02, which is one of the greatest single seconds of music in history.

  • that bow hand... goodness.

  • only itzhak perlman can make 240p sound like 1080p. not even kidding.

  • 63 dislikes...unbelievable

  • @hichaeyeon well if you change the size of the violin, it changes the sound

  • this is a really tchaikovsky violin concerto...

  • the violin looks so small on the soloist

  • @hichaeyeon so funny to see Itzhak Perlman referred to as "the soloist". Maybe the violin looks small as he his fingers are quite large (and he makes it all looks so fluidly easy).

  • @hichaeyeon because Perlman has big hand(but still manages to play extraordinary).

  • Gloria!

  • Too bad the quality of this sucks...still a good listening though

  • with wich philarmonike he plays the concert?

  • look for "nitzan bertana" with zubin mehta and israel philharmonic, i think it s better than perlman

  • Sometimes I marvel at the beauty of music. Its something that moves me so much more than the material things in life.

  • Well why the hell did it end there?

  • @sspequod Second part is in recommended videos....which strangely only has about 318000 views...hmmmm

  • him and Joshua bell are just the best

  • 1. David Oistrakh

    2. Jascha Heifetz

    3. Itzhak Perlman (1977)

  • Magical tone, wow...I wish someone could upload the full version of this movement without the break in the middle.

  • Sometimes 240p videos are the best on youtube :)

  • definitely my favorite violin concerto :D

did anyone else see perlman's left hand teleport at 5:18? XD

  • Maravilloso, sublime. ¡Qué hermosura!

  • Good God I wish I could play the violin like that. : (

  • no eletronics, no high teck gadgets, nothing but some paper, some wood and strings, and a few peices of metal. and tons of heart and soul. this is so beautiful i really want to play this my senior year. if im good enough.

  • @thebaker31100 yes, mate. you are so right. best comment i have ever read. if you can exprees yourself like this in your music i will purchase your c.d.

  • No special effect, no cheating. Just some pieces of wood or metal, some strings, talent and so much passion... It's so pure and perfect. When i hear that kind of wonders, i think of past, present, and future misfortunes of our word but i want to believe in humanity, i want to hope!

    Cordially!

    From France,

  • @franklywrightbitches

Well he was originally from Israel, not exactly Asian but yeah...

He was voted in 2005 as the greatest Israeli of all time!!

What a treasure this man is!

  • daddy yankee + 58 of his friends were here... fuck them all

  • even tough this is great, I have to say that when it comes to violin nothing beats vivaldi

  • 59 people are demons!!!!

  • is it possible to play like this...?

  • 6:18-6:58 is one of my favorite segment <3

as well as the cadenza at 7:47

if you can find a recording of joshua bell's version with the berlin philharmonic, its BRILLIANT

  • Just other Worldly - could have been 100 years ago! Thanks for this brilliant passage.

  • I really believe that Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto is Tchaikovsky hearts talking to us

  • He was quite young here :) And super talented, as always

  • 58 jerks have seen that great great account ...

  • LYNGUISTICS

  • His vibrato is sooo beautiful, he make it look so damn effortless

  • I was supposed to listen to this while I am studying. But I can't! I just have to watch this man play! FANTASTIC!

  • <3

  • i love the tchaikovsky violin concerto, and i have heard many world famous musicians perform it, but i've yet to hear anyone play it as beautiful and as passionate as itzhak perlman. he adds a sweetness to it. my favorite part has to be at 2:00 when he just nails that harmonic perfectly.

  • Perlman es Dios, de verdad!

  • è meravigliosa

  • hermosa interpretación!

  • @Sierranite he was giving a cue to the orchestra...

  • le concert ftw

  • See the frame at 2:50 when he opens his eyes for a second and seems to share his innermost experience with others!!

  • This is fucking fantastic

  • Muy grande

  • 7:47 - 8:30 : one of the most beautiful passages in the history of violin music

Yes, that's a bold statement, but I dare say it's true.

  • @1980NewWave That part brings tears to my eyes every-time.

  • @1980NewWave Hey, might as well say that the whole piece is just incredibly incredible. But your right. That passage is beautiful. :)

  • @1980NewWave Only one rivals it -- the corresponding passage in Beethoven's Emperor concerto.

    Daniel Léo Simpson

    Composer

    San Francisco

  • I love him!!

  • now, THIS is "true" MUSIC!!

  • Ahhhhhh I am so addicted to this piece right now...almost makes me want to play violin...

  • youtube com/watch?v=UMFEp5LCM1Y

Check out this Violin Concerto in C minor.

  • 55 people don't have taste in music

  • when i heard the piece from cunninglynguists i shat myself, i wasnt aware it was from this song

  • @Atheneo4 Oh, come on... you're picking on someone for calling this a song? Really? There's a lot more to music than petty terminology! Bah... everyone I know always gets on my case when I call a song a piece, but that's just way beyond the point when talking about art!

  • @NemoProkofiev551 not that i don't agree with you, but Atheneo4 just said, "song?". not like he/she was picking on anyone XD

  • @Atheneo4 lynguists, by cunninglynguists

  • bravoooo

  • wwwwwwoooooooowwwwww... wondeful!!!! yeahhh!!!!

  • yeaa....cunninlynguist brought me here!!!

  • what the F i hate how it just ends...

  • i think my speakers are sizzling now because of how amazing this is.

  • Cunninglynguists have the best interpretation of this piece :)

  • Que maravilla...! una delicia para el alma...

  • great!!!

  • Realmente é lindo este concerto

  • isn't it weird that more people listened to the fastest violin player in the world than to this? i don't understand

  • @zaar0206 haha bc the videos are practically next to eachother on the video list. and people compare between the violinists :D

  • so beautiful, so touching, is just speachless

  • I'm not a professional musician by any means - I love this piece and I love perlman. but if i'm not mistaken, at 5:09 the second note of the 'da da da' of the violin is flatter than it's supposed to be. I really could be wrong. anyone else hear it?

  • @gabigluck could you try and be more stupid?

  • @Bruce88keys just relax bud - was asking an innocent question. i apologize for being below your lofty know-it-all level. maybe you should see someone about that insecurity issue you have...

  • @gabigluck you miss the point- thats not an innocent question- its like saying " i don't the Mona Lisa 'cause the frame is weird" like most people you feel you have to say some thing about which you know nothing, instead of hearing the the greatness of the whole....

  • @Bruce88keys at no point did i say i didn't like the piece - i've been listening to this peace since i was a kid and I love it! and if you read my original comment, i already claimed to not know a lot about the intricacies and specifics of the music. i heard one note which sounded unfamiliar and different to all other versions i've heard. at no point did i say the note was 'wrong' or that i dislike the piece because of that note. i was making an observation based on previous listening experience

  • @gabigluck I'm trying to convey in words something about our ego centered sense of things i.e.I like I dislike etc.. watching Perleman or any artist work, interactions with the conductor and orchestra split section adjustments in color sound and intonation transcend anything that is "supposed to be"

  • @gabigluck perlman's not flat there; the first note in that pattern is a D natural; the rest of the are D sharp. its hard to tell sometimes.

  • @keeyonmay Indeed it's a D natural, but to my ear Perlman hits it a bit on the low side. Maybe that's what gabigluck was noticing.

  • 7:48 and 8:26 are just so touching... almost made me cry with the memories they evoked

  • 7:58 nuff said haha

  • My goodness ... his interpretation... the sound actually has chemistry. :) I love it.

  • Buckethead of violin.

  • Simply beautiful...!

  • Unfortunately, the video is not on the best condition, and amputation of the grand final is a huge loss in this prodigious and excellent execution. BRAVO to Itzhak Perlman !!!

  • superb!!!!!

  • 53 people will never even dream of being this flawless... O,O

  • i wanna hit the 50 dislikers with that violin
