Hi everyone, I just want to let all u know that this program really works. I've been doing it since my son has been 6 months and right now he is 16 months and reads over 50 words. I will be posting his video in a bit so I guys can see that this program works.
I see this video was uploaded a few years ago...How old is Ethan in this video? Also, how is he doing with reading and communication now? Do you think YBCR really helped him? I am due in August and considering buying the program for my daughter, to begin when she is about 3 months old, but I don't want to get something that turns out to be ineffective. Just looking for real reviews by real people on the product, so any information you give would be great! Thanks!
you have a kiwi accent?? :-) I have this for my daughter too, at first i was going to just trial it, but my daughter just loves this system. shes still on the first stage and after a couple weeks she is talking more and starting to react to the words on the cards. I think every parent should get their child involved with something like this .
this is a very good program. I did it with my daughter when she was 9months and it worked very good. She is 2 years and half right now and she can read books from the library for grade 1 by herself.
He is just sooo adorable and fun to watch. This video made my day. It is like he is saying "I wished you would just give me those cards so I can put them in my mouth." Again, very adorable. I read to my girls starting at 6 months and she was memorizing words by the time she was 1. She is in 3rd grade now. Always gets straight As in school. Not skipping grades or gifted though but she is a lot better than I was at that age.
I honestly think that the your baby can read set is a waste of money. Parents can make their own flashcards and do this without spending loads of money to buy the set. All the kids are doing is memorizing the words so when they see the word again it triggers their brain to say it. The child is just memorizing whats on the flashcards, but what happens when the child is introduced to a word that isn't in the flashcards? I think a parent could teach this to their kid without this system just MO
To address your 1st concern: yes, parents could do this themselves. People could also make all their food from scratch and build all their furniture themselves, but most don't do those kinds of things for obvious reasons. As for your 2nd concern: yes, even the guy who created Your Baby Can Read says that the babies are just memorizing the words at first. But after a while, the child will see a new word and can recognize letter combinations from words they already know.
haha, wow, it looks like the baby's head is going to explode from too much knowledge, its like you can see him learning.Good job on getting a head start with your child's education :)
im only 20 but when i have kids im gonna do this wiv them, kids need as much simulation as ppl, nad its good to get them lerning early esp cos they learn best under the age of 6,esp reading and laguages.. a lot of parent dont pay attention to reading so this is so good
Am I correct in thinking your are in Aus. My name is Raoul from Your Baby Can Read Australia and I would love to talk to you about Ethan reading. If possible could you call me at 1300 473232.
CaleyIsMe.Yeah it really wrks, I started the video bac in Nov/08 for my 2 girls..my oldest was 3 n youngest was 7mths..now turnin 4 n the baby jus turned 1...My Oldest learn how to read off the starter video in 2wks n when i got her on the 2nd video she learn how to read most of the words within 2wks n my baby she acted to the sound of the wrds n read 2 wrds within a month @ 7 or 8 mths of age,
Oh no, we are doing it for him to be able to read in the future and to be able to explain to us what each word is. Not for him to be able to tell us what he wants through comunication... which is what signing is about. I think they are 2 different purposes. But signing for you guys is a good thing.
These cards are too small according to the wise Glen Doman to have the best impact. You should check out glendoman and brainyflashcards.

I've favorited some videos on this.
Talking & writing is communicating to someone. Readers are being communicated to. How much you communicate to your child will set their I.Q.
The conditioning of reading is not as useful in brain pruning as sign language.
This is because conditioning within meaningful interactions is more useful in terms of brain pruning.
Sign language can be learned extremely fast in infants allowing them to communicate desires.
That said I also plan on doing this.

It's been said that child learn best during their first 5 years. So I don't see why a 2-3 year old wouldn't benefit from some extra stimulation :)

does it acually work? my friend might buy it. We just saw the infomercial and we are afraid it will not work, so what if she pays for it for nothing.
