  • Why decide... They both fucked nans

  • Chris Broderick has a better technique I guess, Loomis is still the best in my books

  • Jeff Loomis The Power Of The Ring(Zero Order Phase The Two Towers!)

  • Chris Broderick because he plays Classical and he has a 4 year music degree!!! So Chris WINS..I met him person so I say Chris!

  • Chris FTW

  • Loomis is up there with Rusty Cooley and MAB.... Broderick isn't too far behind though!

  • Jeff!

  • @AngelOfNight9 No Chris!!

  • First, learn how to spell "Decide", and "wins", and then I will, genius.

  • broderick is fakin amazing!

,,but still, nobody can beat jeff :)

  • @carvex21 Not Chris but there are better out there

  • Chris player, Jeff musician

  • i pick a chris loomis or a jeff broderick...

  • This video is BS. Boderick wasn't even playing his own songs.

  • I don't really like either of their bands but they're both two of my favorite guitarists.

  • @BSMitchell1 Nobody likes you and your gay ass Billy Idol

  • they're both studs, but damn it's nice to see Loomis' Schecters just fucking shine

  • Tornado of souls(friedman) is the best solo out there in my opinion.Broderick play is quite well

  • @MoreTimeTo Fuck Yeah Dude! Best solo out there! no one can play it like Marty but Broderick comes close.I like how He always does his nodding and smile thing to the crowd lol.

  • Broderick

  • Loomis still fucks everyone out of a chance at guitar playing.

  • @mrguano7 yeah,no.

  • I prefer Broderick

  • i personally feel that loomis is more articulate

  • Wins only has one "s", but either way, I'd have to say Broderick. He could likely play anything in the world if he wanted, and he is a schooled classical musician as well. Loomis can pick uber fast and do nasty sweeps, but I don't think he has the overall ability or knowledge of Broderick, who can do any two handed lick, fast picking lick, sweeping lick, or classical song on the planet.

  • @BER2ERKER That doesn't make him better, there are dudes on youtube with better technique then Broderick

  • @BER2ERKER

Yeah. Broderick is slightly winning, because he is, i guess, better schooled then loomis. But Loomis is awesome to. In the playing ability, i think they are nearly the same. Okay, the 8 finger Arpeggio is a exception. But overall, they are both awesome musicians with different powers..

  • 0:40 awesome!!!

  • PPL WHO GIVE A GUITARIST the upper hand piss me off, you cant just give all the good parts to one, you pin highest skill to highest skill and let em duke it out dumbass!!!

  • LOOMIS

  • delete this video. it's a friedman solo dumbass

  • Stupid guy its a marty friedman solo witch is ever better than chris boderic

  • @audiozwan he can play any solo known to man dude thats why he's in megadeth cuz he TOPPED friedman.

  • I prefer Chris Broderick

  • Jeff Loomis was supposed to be in Megadeth, but he was denied by Dave due to his age (16) a bit before Marty joined the band. xD And Chris Broderick played with Jeff Loomis. I find that funny :D

  • @andresoacuna Well we should be gratefull to Dave for his choise to pick Friedman to join Megadeth instead of Chris...Because if he didnt we would have miss the opportunity to have to fucking and brilliant metal bands... HAIL MEGADETH/NEVERMORE FROM GREECE!!!

  • @andresoacuna two redheads in the same band is too much, man.

  • @tifan777 Loooooool xD

  • @andresoacuna Another funny fact: Chris Broderick's favourite metal song of 2010 was "Letter Experiment" from Periphery's debut album, and Jeff Loomis did a guest solo on the final track of that album, "Racecar". :D

  • @andresoacuna Dave then asked Jeff to join after Glen Dorver's departure, but he refused and pointed Dave towards Chris

  • @andresoacuna And when Dave asked him to join in 2008 when both Chris and Jeff took a break from Nevermore, Jeff refused HIM, and then Chris joined xD

  • Jeff all the way there both good but Jeff is a boss with both technique and melodically

  • You know what's impressive is that Broderick had a month to learn a dozen or so of Friedman's solo's. CB for the win.

  • @stanwilder04 When you get up to someone of Chris' skill level, learning a dozen or so of an inferior guitarist's solos is pretty simple for a month's time. Probably had weeks to spare and perfect them. That being said, I love Marty Friedman's style, and how melodic he is, and he's made the biggest guitar contribution to Megadeth ever. Chris is just absurdly better. Just a fact, not giving Marty any crap. Seriously love the guy...

  • I'd say they're evenly matched in terms of technique, so it's a draw.

  • what a piece of shit video with 2 insane guitarists

  • Instead of Tornado of Souls you should've put that masterpiece from Chaos Theory 3, his solo from The Politics Of Ecstasy or The Learning.......

  • Depends on preference and what you want to hear. If I had a band of my choice to build without myself. It would be either Christian Muenzner, Jeff Loomis, or Chris Broderick or Ron Jarzombek on guitars. Then on bass it would be either Alex Webster, John Myung, Steve DiGiorgio, Stephan Fimmers, or Mike Flores. Then on drums I would have either Hannes Grossman, Romain Goulon, Bobby Jarzombek, George Kollias, Martin Mendez, Nic Ritter or Tim Yeung. Then me on vocals with Odette Yustman <3 lol

  • chris.... hands down...(in my pants), saw megadeth live back in 09 tour, chris is a monster live, never misses a note, jeff is VERY clean by for the talent has to go to chris... he can out last most people with his right hand just tapping over the majority of people can with there left...

  • Chris?mmm 0k But Jeff?is Legolas!!

  • Chris Broderick > Jeff Loomis. There isn't even an argument for this. I idolize them both, but it's easy to tell which is 'better'; though not from this video.

  • @SiK0Fuzz1es

Yeah you're right, it is easy to tell which is better. Jeff Loomis.

  • For me its Jeff loomis cuz of his melodic shred techniques....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • there both amazing. its not a battle- i think broderick is more versatile, i mean the guy plays classical and jazz slapping and 8 finger tapping and shit! i cant find a video where jeff is doing classical. Jeff is still amazing, and i do prefer his style more to listen to.

  • does anyone else like the recording of this mile of machines sound better the then album?

  • At 2:50 haha hair monster!!

  • J-loo is the winner

  • @MajorGameage96 ,@BruceDao123 sweep picking of tornado of souls it's easy, and i'm not a very good guitarrist. some practice like 2 days and you are able to play this song.

  • @tamagarden I wouldn't say it's easy to pull it off cleanly...

  • I say Loomis. :P

  • who made this video don't play guitar. tornado solo it's to easy man to play

  • @tamagarden Lol it's not that easy alternate sweep isn't really easy and needs practice to master it. Anyways I understand you !!!

  • @tamagarden I play guitar, and I am very incapable of playing Tornado Of Souls' solo. I can't even play guitar solos, period.

  • @MajorGameage96 try to start with the solo of Psycho by System of a Down. Slow, easy and sounds great.

  • broderick has wrote only stuff in jag panzer and two megadeth albums

    loomis 1991 present

    not really a fair battle

i think both are todays top players however.

  • Chris has a much wider musical vocabulary for play style wise, Jeff specializes is the minors and diminished styles and hes an expert there. Playing wise Jeff wins hands down, he plays way more technical things (you only know that if you can play guitar and know what he's playing really) and he plays cleaner. Chris is also great but Jeff does win this for playing (which is what the contest is here) if it was for knowledge, Chris wins hands down

  • Chris Broderick!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • right a marty friedman solo

  • chris was playing already written music where jeff was not

  • @angryguitarguy No...they were both playing music that had been written. Chris was playing his Betcha can't play this lick then the Tornado of souls solo. And Jeff was playing the Arpeggio break from The Psalm of Lydia by Nevermore then some of his solo work called Miles of Machines.

A better comparison of these two guitarists would have been the Nevermore guitar battle. Insane,

  • loomis is better in think!!

  • Chris Broderick is way more knowledgeable about the guitar/music theory than Jeff Loomis is but Jeff Loomis clearer has the greater technical ability. But fuck it, they are both expert level musicians so who are we to compare?

  • LOOOOOOMISS!!!!

  • it was better when they were in NEVERMORE

  • in my opinion they both are amazing although i find broderick a little more technical and jeff loomis likes to sweep pick too much thats all i gotta say

  • Chris only needs 2 songs to prove that he is the best guitarist in the world.

Downward Fall from Jag Panzer and How The Story Ends with Megadeth.

  • what is the name of the song that starts on 1:50?

  • @Vapausorava miles of machines

  • @Vapausorava miles of machine :)

  • Kinda like trying to decide if you like your gold in a rectangular brick or a square.

    Both of these guys rule

  • musician wise i feel that broderick is the superior in this but loomis can write better and has a little more soul his work. both great guitarists that people should bow to though.

  • hard to pick one, both are fucking awesome. metal FTW!!!

  • loomis + broderick = world president

  • miles of machines was an instant win...

  • BRODERICK

  • I think chris broderick play no feeling . Jeff Loomis play more feeling

  • @MastersShredder

Jeff has some Schenker in there, which I really like to hear. CHris has feeling in his playing when he isnt going at a million miles an hour...at that speed the emotions shift so fast who can really tell right?

  • Loomis in my perspective, but it's very close

  • How can you consider this a battle when Broderick is playing a Marty Friedman solo? Derr....

  • @Drucef cuz marty is fucking awesome... thats how

  • @ChaosBurnsWithin: That doesn't make sense. Go back to school.

  • @Drucef Because marty is awesome, if Chris can play marty's stuff, it means that chris is technically talented. of course he is though. imo Chris is better in a technical sense and seems like a more fun guy to hang out with but i like loomis. i prefer loomis' solo album over megadeth stuff

  • @ChaosBurnsWithin Chris is not better than Jeff technically.

  • @AngelOfNight9 chris comes up with those insane tapped runs and can sweep faster and shred faster than jeff and can do all that jeff can do. i dont see jeff doing the tapped runs... just saying. i love both of them. i actually probably prefer jeff, because i dont really like megadeth, so

  • @ChaosBurnsWithin I don't agree, even when they played live together they had a guitar dual and took tunrs going back and fourth and Jeff owned him. The crowed agreed thus the reason why Chris put his hands down and smiled at him on Jeff's last turn. That show was enough for me. Chris can't shred faster than Jeff idc what anyone says

  • @AngelOfNight9 Chris all the way!

  • Loomis is a very technical guitar player .... brotherick puts his soul in music equal

  • Loomis is a very technical guitar player .... brotherick puts his soul in music equal

  • u cant compare these two guitar titans :), they both are extremely dedicated and awesome guitarists!! \m/!!

  • I think chris plays better but now if I say something about schecter guitars and someone says they suck, I can say no... Jeff loomis plays those lol :)

  • LOOMIS WITHOUT A DOUBT

  • ... also i heard it was glenn drover from megadeth tht recommended chris to megadeth.

  • i just feel like chris wins... loomis is amazing. but i think alot of his solos are to alike. and also becuz chris is god

  • Broderick wins, when Marty Friedman writes solos for him

  • loomis winn

  • you can tell this guy is more of a fan of loomis.

  • you can tell this guy is more of a fan of loomis.

  • Chris.

  • Broderick is a good player and very clean however he lacks the quality writing skills of Loomis

  • @Tainted369 in terms of technicality, perhaps yes suicmez is better. but as a whole i feel that loomis is the best out there as a (death) metal guitarist

  • 0:07 what ita the name of this music??????? please respond

  • @fraenkel97 its his betcha cant play this vid. its no song

  • @GrunesMannchen oh thanks

  • Why is the Tornado of Souls solo here?

even I can play that + it's Marty Friedman's originally.

  • @Bruntti

"I can play it so that makes it not good anymore" - This is what you sound like, however I hope it's not your intention.

  • @metalbloodshed No it's just that the solo is ultimately pretty easy against other songs on Rust In Peace.

  • Broderick!

  • These 2 are my favorite guitarist... But honestly if Jason Becker was still healthy I believe he'd easily be the best.

  • ...240p....we meet again...

  • You could put studio version of "Miles of Machines"

  • Jeff Loomis is genius! Really!

But I love Chris for his Style, he can play so many different things. He´s the only really Master for me.

  • chris broderick..is my opinion srry

  • jeff loomis all the way ;D

  • Both are equal in awesomeness!!! Just different styles

  • Marty freidman is definitely the best player megadeth ever had but I don't think Al pitrelli gets mentioned enough in the argument over megadeths best guitarist. Dread and the fugitive mind has one of the best solos megadeth has ever done as far as I'm concerned.

  • I wish I could play tornado of souls boringly just like Chris. LMAO!! It really wasn't boring he just did it well enough to seem easy. Yet, it wasn't as easy and boring as he made it seem. Both Chris and Jeff are Monster players with their own style and we should just appreciate both!!

  • Chris Broderick made Tornado of Sould feel boring in my opinion. Jeff wins here, but Marty Freidman over both

  • i love both, but in the end i think loomis wins by a hair

  • Marty Friedman wins

  • JEFF LOOMIS WIN !!!

  • @david85901 chris wins he s better than loomins all the people know

  • i dont know a whole lot of loomis so i cant really say much...but according to mustaine, broderick is playing guitar like 24/7 and plays all styles....

  • @beefcakes42

but he has yet to compose something good with any of those styles. im still waiting for a solo album or at least an instrumental.

  • metal was the winner here

  • Although Marty had made this song, but Chris Broderick play better.

  • Comment removed

  • I love how people are unable to realize that they are different players and are unable to appreciate both artists...

  • loomis\m/ more feel. Broderick more robotic

  • @megaboxxx so true, same with petrucci. all gods but loomis has that presence they just dont

  • @Stratacaster87 lol petrucci is awesome! but i would pick him over yngwie. too many arpegios is like showboating n no feel. but out of megadeth marty hands down dude!

  • @megaboxxx marty is a genius.

  • for a while I thought they were related cus of the simmilar facial expressions

  • chris is an amazing 8 finger tapping vs the amazing arpegiios playing of jeff loomis...plus they played together in nevermore jeff is better but i like broderick mor eporbably because hes the lead guitarist of my 2nd favorite band now

  • Chris Broderick should have been the star of Conan the Barbarian!

  • look they are both amazing guitarists.. you cant really say one is better than the other.. cause they are both gods and they play slightly different.. personally i like loomis better because he is soo amazing at composing but broderick does that cool wicked 8 finger tapping :D so idk no reason for any arguments :)

  • @SitotiKurton See my previous post.

  • i like loomis way better

  • Hate these VS videos that proves nothing bout whos better

  • @HeavyMetalVagabond Fair enough, but that's why I said at the end "that I know of". He has come up with some great stuff though.

  • I wish Chris could use his own rig in megadeth but dave wont let him. Engl amps shred, but Jeff rules ha

  • Marty friedman wins. Tornado of souls was somewhat emotional and fucking ridiculously technically, whereas loomis plays at fifty billion miles an hour, and chris hasn't come up with much of his own that I know of.

  • @amithabajan2 thats cos you havnt listened to any of his stuff... go check out "Take to the Sky", "Starlight's Fury" "Iron Eagle" and "The Scarlet Letter". All pretty cool shred solos, (chris broderick's Jag Panzer stuff).

  • it felt a bit awkward chris playing tornado of souls!!

  • chris can literally play anything..but i don't know how good he is at making his own stuff.

  • jeff loomis is way better

  • jeff loomis is better

and tornado is souls is 1000% of marty friedman solo -_-

two influenced for marty friedman and jason becker HAHA

  • jeff loomis is the arpeggio god just watch him play miles of machines from his solo album

  • chris has is a better technical player, has a better tone, and looks more metal then jeff

  • Even Chuck Norris can´t choose!!!!, but for me, i choose Jeff because he has a longer music career, a broad style, and more "feeling" :P

  • when he comes out with a solo album decide then.

  • Chris!

  • pretty even

  • I like Chris. I really liked Chris when he was in Nevermore as well as Pat O'Brien. Those two guys are in really great bands, especially Pat because Pat is fucking insane when it comes to Death Metal guitar playing. For example Frantic Disembowelment. But overall Jeff Loomis is my favorite guitarist and he won this battle. JEFF FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • loomis-cleaner, sweeping, composing, stage presence. broderick- plays all styles, tapping, biceps!

  • @superdanlewis chris has a very clean playing too.

  • @superdanlewis Wow, that I think is actually quite a good summary haha

  • @superdanlewis rofl biceps.... nice

  • if your going to make it a battle actually use brodericks own work not tornado of souls solo made by marty friedman. but i agree, both guitarists are amazing both win.
