  • Sweet ass song !!!!!!!!!

  • stop playing and shoot it

  • Ronnie is a great player. Pls just enjoy the fact we even have YouTube and appreciate the gift of talent these people bring.

  • What a pile of horse shit!!!!! Ronnie posturing like a sixteen year old in front of a bedroom mirror and that mincing whinging fuk witless screeching..WTF...Shut the fuk up.....

  • oh no, no, no.

  • Sammy can't play the axe

  • @MsJonlaw hope you knew it was ronnie that taught him to play b4 you said that cause otherwise you would just look like a dumb ass...

  • Ronnie is a cornball. Agreed... not the same without Sammy.

  • He is Hot!!!!!!

  • epic!!!! \m/ thanx 4 post bru!

  • ...sucks.

  • Not the same without Hagar..

  • Does anyone know where I can find a version of this without the vocal track? I'm not a Samuel Hagar fan at all, but this kid can't even carry a note. When Judas Priest replaced Rob Halford with Tim Owens or when Anthrax hired John Bush, they were guys who made the band at least as good or better. This here is kind of like losing a button on an expensive suit and trying to replace it with a turd. It makes the whole suit look like shit. Did this kid just win some MTV contest to get the job?

  • Just saw Ronnie at the Abate Boogie. Unbelievable show!!!!!

  • Sounds great. The kids voice sounds great with with Ronnies music.

Just lay back and enjoy it for great rock and roll!!!

  • WTF? Terrible? This sounds great to me! Sure, everyone wants Sammy singing Montrose and let me tell you....I saw the reunion show at the Concord Pavilion in 2006 and it SMOKED! Short set but great to see Bill church finally playing his Steinberger bass. But.....Jimmy does a damned good Sammy and anytime Ronnie plays it's an event.

  • This is TERRIBLE!

  • Denny Carmassi = More groove, Less fill.

  • I think you all need to realize the name of the band sammy was in when he did this song

  • Sammy wanna-be....the hair...clothing...Imitation is the best form of flattery....Ronnie still rox

  • People said the same thing about Van Hagar ! Sammy blows.., Daves the cat ! Saw both versions of halen and (1979 and "86 ?). Both shows totally rocked ! Do I like Hagar more than this cat ? Yes.., but he gets the job done ! As far as what happened to Ronnies professionalism ? What have you done or won that anyone wants to buy ? Ronnie continues to ROCK ! Stop hatin' and practice more, you sound very much like a frustrated guitar wannabe !

  • Sounds like a fucking garage band. What the fuck happen to Ronnies professionalism?

  • This dude singing suck ass. HAGAR RULES!!!!!

  • Jimmy does a great job vocally, Sammy is a very tough act to follow. Give the man his Kudos for steppin up to the plate, and, doin a hell of a job.

  • This is AWESOME and neat to see 1/2 of MEGADETH on stage with them.

  • @MrMegaFredzeppelin

Don't care for the singer,Hagar's much better.

  • @onthemoveagain It is what it is,Ronnie is the main focus "HEAR".

  • Heard this song in the opening of the stadium scene from A Star is Born. Always curious about it. I never owned a Montrose album but enjoyed Ronnie's playing in the Edger Winter Group. Finally U-tube brings it home to me! Thanks for posting the Montrose songs! The epitome of American rock n roll!

  • I love everybody especially the beat man!!

  • GREEEEEEEEEAAAAAAATTTTTTTT NO FRILLS---NO NONSENSE----ROWKA ROWLAA!!!!!

  • @TheRockerxx69 I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!

  • Winterland 76',,last on the bill w/Fleetwood Mac,,HA

  • This shows what does being a GREAT DRUMMER mean!!!!!

  • Jimmy was great with Alice Cooper last summer

  • Don't know who the vocalist is, but it sure as hell ain't Sammy.

  • I saw Jimmy DeGrasso play in '81 with Reaper!

  • Great drumming from Jimmy!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Drummer and bassist from Megadeth!

  • I always enjoyed listening to Ronnie and the band in the early 1970's when I was in my teens in high school, and I collected a couple of their albums...always knew Ronnie was one of the best guitarists and Sammy was one of the best singers , and the bass guitarist and drummer .... ROCK ON Ronnie And Sammy !

  • Always liked Ronnie, I like this singer too! 'Rock Candy' is a legendary rock song, good to see them out still doing it with the original fire they always had...

  • Who the fuck is the guy singing and why hasn't anyone ripped out his vocal cords yet?

  • @AoshiFan Billy Squire.

  • @Cash2112 It all makes perfect sense now!

  • Ronnie Rules 4Ever!!

    Love,

    Janetplanet

  • what a fuck losing singer

  • What a great song and fuck you lifeon46 you never preformed anything live, be owned you bathroom mirror and your hair brush.

  • Keith St. John is a suitable replacement.

  • Sammy just paved the way for the Extreme singer in VH: How low can you go.

  • That was great!

  • ...nice and slow....like it should be

  • Bring back Sammy!

  • Sammy's vocals are unmatched but Ronnie can still rock the guitar!!!!

  • The singer sucks

  • wow, Dave......Minnesota.ROCKS

  • nice..........................

  • Oh fuck yah.

  • There is nothing better than the last bom-bom-bom . . . bombombombombom. with the slide. First time I saw them, Sammy was the lead singer (Santa Monica Civic Auditorium) and they rocked. But this singer was spot on with his singing.

  • Nice clip-wish the guitar was a bit louder though!

  • @unclelight13 FUCK YOU,and if you do not get that,Fuck you again!

  • This kicks so much ass to this day!!!

  • Listen to this..Then go listen to Chickenfoot do it now. ... Sammy just makes Rock better ..The Red Rocker . Every band he has ever played - in,with or solo .. He makes them better. Van Halen probably wouldn't even still be around if not for Sammy... Fact ...are they?..lol.. ya ..ya ...I'll take Michael over Wolfgang ..and Sammy over Dave any day... Sammy is "Rock & Roll"

  • Even though I prefer Roth, I have to agree. VH would have broken up a long time ago if Roth had not left. And Michael Anthony should still be in the band. They will never be as good without him. I saw them twice on the last tour and DLR is not the same DLR of old. He has lost his trademark Panther scream which made him so unique. Sammy can still sing the same as ever.

  • But Roth is not a musician . And have you herd him lately.I saw him at the Cal Jam 2,His voice is not what it was. I use to love VH, but they abused everything and thought they where gods. Eddie is not what he was either.

Sammy dose not think that way. Although in my book. He is the Rock&Roll God. lol.

  • @24hosting You are one of those tree hugging fags, had you in my 3to9,should have pulled,FAG

  • Forget the singer...MONTROSE IS A GOD!!!!

  • Yeah, I watched this vid more than several times.Being an old Montrose fan,I almost instantly discounted the whole thing cause carrot top! Ronnie still has it!

  • Montrose is or was nothing without Sammy. And where is he now. Sammy is on top with new songs and a new band. Not that he needs one..lol. @ 64 The man just flat out Rocks!.

  • @24hosting

Ronnie may not be on top! But he's got one hell of a lot of respect!

  • @24hosting...I'm gonna give you one chance to redeem yourself for making a total asshole of yourself saying that about Montrose. But before I do, tell me how old you are. There is now way you were around in the early '70s when Montrose made it. I can tell by your asshole comments.

  • Sorry guys, I hadn't listended to the whole track when I said the 'singer' was an embarrassment. I was too quick to judge and I feel ashamed. It turns out that he is a complete, total and utter embarrassment!!! Is this what it has come to for my hero Ronnie Montrose, third rate boys trying to immitate the rock God Sammy Hagar?!

  • Waterlow

Couldn't agree more with your comment. Montrose with Sammy at the mike was amazing . Not sure why they didn't stay together longer

  • @Waterlow56 Back up horse,Ronnie is at top of his game here,Sammy had his day,as far as carrot top, close your eyes!

  • Waterlow56 I agree with you 100%!!! That Sammy wanna be needs replaced and FAST!!! He is a total and utter embarrassment!!!. Montrose still has it and Dave Ellefson shows he can play more than Megdeth material.

  • Montrose was not all Sammy, third rate boys? No,you are wrong.

  • To bad the idiot singer doesn't even know the lyrics

  • dmacljn1 - Montrose was and is a genius. Nobody better in my book. This singer is an embarrassment!!!

  • That was great to watch! Ronnie still "has the fire" you can clearly see. And he can still play like mad! Nothing lost there. Woo hoo, love it.

    Come to Chicago.

  • im not sure but he must be in his mid to late 50s im 50 and he was famous with i was 18 teen so...

  • just curious everyone here....about how old is Ronnie Montrose nowadays? He is coming to the Cache Creek casino this Nov. 28 and I have only seen him once before as a headliner for the Doobies.

This incredible man is one of Heavy rocks all time founders!!!!! yeah!!

  • see him. forget his age, he's incredible with or without hair. saw him a few years back, got to meet him. great show.

  • 61 years old! I shit you not.

  • Hey Wiznetdragonfly (yeah, good one)....what's NOT sad is they don't seem to care what YOU think is SAD; and frankly niether do I... However, they do look like they're having fun, and they sound great! I wish I was there when they played this song so I could act out like a 10 year old boy with them. Too bad you're embarassed. Have a nice life....try not to fall on too many swords in the name of embarassment, sounds like a waste of time to me...

  • made wood is hard to grow wiz,,,,,,,,all i would say is no-one was harmed and all had fun so its fine.

i know what you mean tho,,

  • Great song. Timeless.

  • I went to school with Jimmy Degrasso, been to his house, b'day parties, haha, great guy, fantastic musician, and even then, consummate professional! Complete journeyman on drums!

  • Hey, Ronnie put it all in motion - and I'm glad to see him still doin' it!! He's a legend and I would love to see him back out there with Sammy for a return - lookin' good Ronnie!! Thmbs Up!

  • Does DLR have a gig with Joe Satriani? Does he have a gig at all? What about Eddie? This was Sammy's band and Sammy ain't playin' no half baked gigs like this one. What is it with all the Sammy haters? The first VH album was their best by far but Van Halen was actually a better band when 5150 came out. Sammy is together and Van Halen was all f-ked up. They needed him in 1985. I saw them in 1979 on the II tour and again in 1984. I was embarrassed for DLR at that show acting all drunk an stupid.

  • This is an effective ad campaign when you are trying to sell CD's and mech. to drunk and stupid people! They are genious' perhaps hmmmmmm?

  • Are you the drunk stupid person buying merchandise? Because your English grammar sucks. If you ain't using 500 characters there is no need abbreviate asshole.

Van Hagar was better for every body. Eddie was more sober, they wrote better songs, they recorded more, toured more, fought less and created Cabo Wabo! Sammy's cool and healthy and DLR has ego problems up the ass. He is nowhere now and the reunion gigs sucked. Wolfgang on bass. Come On!

  • I much prefer the DLR records myself. I am not amused with a CD full of balads. I have a more sophoisticated palette. I like the attitude and aggression on the DLR records and CDs. But I do appreciate the Sammy era. It is just not as stimulating musically. It is gared twords the general public and marketability. You must be a listener and not a musician. Am I right?

  • My comment was more about the band, performances, personalities & cohesion. DLR was divisive & Eddie, Alex, alcoholic. DLR didn't help things. I did say the first record, a DLR one was their best & perhaps II was 2nd best. VH was always commercial & Van Hagar was no more commercial. If you think Panama or Jump weren't obscenely commercial, I disagree. I also refer only to 5150. I was done w/VH by 1986. I am a listener, not a musician. I'm a drummer. they are the guys who hang around w/musicians.

  • lol insulting someones intelligence and using aint in the same post

  • which comment are you referring to? Am I being an asshole, stupid and showing bad youtube etiquette at the same time? That is like hittin' the "MY BAD" trifecta. I try to always my 500 characters but not this this time cuz I can't stand to listen to this horrible rendition anymore.Worst Montrose singer ever?

  • You can never go by this sort of thing. They obviously took the live mix from the board. That NEVER works. You just have to see them live. The video's not bad here, but the audio is wrong. Nobody is going to be Sammy, don't get me wrong. But anybody in a cruel mix is not going to shine.

  • I have to disagree,Van Halen in the early days where great, but I am 44,and caught VH live many times before Sammy!

  • It's OK. Musical taste, performance taste is all subjective. Whatever you appreciate. I remember even at the the young age of 21 I was embarrassed for my girlfriend's half brother. He was too young to go by himself so we took him too see VH in 1984. They were just awful: drum solo, bass solo, guitar solo, poor acoustics, DLR acting all drunk drinking ice tea from many Jack Daniels bottles. Yelling at hecklers telling them he was goona fuck their girlfriends. That wasn't a good rock concert.

  • In 77,I was 13,my 12 year old girlfriend had a godfather 17.He bought us tickets, and brought us to a VH concert at fair park.

  • I caught VH with DLR in 77.The only VH I know is with DLR..The only Montrose I remember is with SH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am sure DLR was great in 1977 as he was in 1979 when I saw him, but by 1984 he SUCKED! That is why he was gone and Sammy took over. He is so much better now (at 61 years old) than DLR it isn't funny. Have you heard Chickenfoot's CD? SATRIANI! He can still sing and scream! Montrose was fantastic with Sammy. This hack singing w/Montrose at this lousy night club is embarrassingly awful. Montrose is a great guitar player and I don't know what he is doing here with this absolutely boring line up.

  • Damn 61,we are all getting old.I never saw VH live with Sammy, but man I still jam to Montrose

  • Yeah,I ain't digging carrot top,but Ronnie still has it!

  • I was at this show. Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, AZ. Awesome performance.

  • keith st. john is the singer

  • Who is that singing?

  • LOL Sammy? sammy who? you mean " i wish i was half as good as David Lee Roth " Sammy? lolol sammy hagar .......... bleh

  • yes I agree he is better than sammy

  • Hes no sammy
