  • the music ruins it

  • what a f is wrong with him???

  • I adore The Album Leaf, so Anis won me over on that.

  • I see teacups upside down blowning in your smiles!!

  • very warm, "He made you and was happy." Rumi-esque

  • so glad I discovered him....a living Rumi

  • I love this man, I really do. I listen to him every night before I go to sleep. He's magnificent.

  • a million dollars to the person who can remind me who made that song

(it's an instrumental version, the original had lyrics)

  • Respond to this video... The outer banks by The Album Leaf. Make the check out to cash.

  • @speakeasynyc

Thank you!!! My life just reached a new level of fulfillment.

    Cash, got it. ;)

  • @speakeasynyc Hahaha

  • His tenacity, nose, and smile reminds me of Ryan Gosling. A brown Ryan Gosling. Seductive

  • I feel like the music interferes with his words

  • @dash2rendar same here

  • @dash2rendar I feel like the words interfere with his message

  • @dash2rendar Seriously. Ugh.

  • Wonderful, PERIOD.

  • I thought I was a lesbian until I heard him speak.

  • @brybutlerrr I thought i was straight til I heard him speak

  • Walk through this with me

  • "...He asked of it to be something of worth, he woke from his dreams, scraped the soil from the spaces inside himself, he made you, and was happy, you make the lord happy, come into this, come closer"

  • what song is playing in the background?

  • @gtinsideandout

The outer banks by The Album Leaf

  • I JUST SAW THIS LIVE HE WAS RECITING IT FOR A MOVIE THAT THEY WERE FILMING WE TOTALLY HAD A MOMENT WHILE HE WAS DOING IT AND I SAW A BEAR IN THE BED OF A PICKUP TRUCK ON THE WAY HOME

  • shit, every time I hear this i get shivers.

  • 1 person clicked the wrong button

  • its so weird how anytime i listen to any of his poetry, no matter how many times, i always become so enticed and wrapped up in it that my heart starts to beat faster. this is true poetic genius.

  • he ruined it in the end when he keeps screaming :)

  • Just one of my favourite things.

  • This was my right-before-sleep poem for months. Thank you Anis.

  • hornz i agree.

  • He made you, and was happy. You make the lord happy.

  • I'm a heterosexual male but there is something about his voice and delivery that just makes this poem sexy to me. agree?

  • @hornz03 completely...lol but im a girl...ssooooo (:

  • @hornz03 mate, it is more than sexy, his delivery and words are beautiful, because he utterly means what he is saying.

  • Only discovered Anis this week by being subscribed to this channel. I am so glad I watched this video. Undoubtedly my favourite piece of poetry, maybe my favourite piece of writing of any kind. His words as so beautiful and pure. His performance is stunning, immaculate.

  • thats a sick shirt

  • Amazing, Amazing, Amazing! I can't stop watching this!! THANK YOU!!!!

  • Immeasurably beautiful.

  • @kdnhu Im going with " the mouse slipped"

  • What's the song called ?

  • imagery is spectacular

  • I really like this far, far, far more than "Shake the Dust" ....which I love

  • This is a great video of this poem, but the instrumental a little distracting.

  • BEAR ON FIRE

  • sigh

  • I was initially introduce to this gentlemen through the way of his "Shake the dust video" and I too agree there is something captivating about him. I think it's his way of opening realization that there is captivation in us all. Great stuff, would love to see him live. Come to Cali wont you?

  • this is amazing

  • there is a bear on fire

  • This guy is inspiring, captivating, hypnotic, eccentric, amazing, intriguing, love, full of wisdom. He is beautiful. "You are quite the view, if no one has ever told you that before know that right now, you are quite the view. There is joy in how your mouth dances with your teeth, yoursmile is a sign of how sacred your life actually is. Come into it, come closer... Know that something softer than us but just as holy, planted a piece of himself into our feet."

  • "Your hearts are like my hands. Somedays all they do is tremble."

  • @foryoublue94 That line has been haunting me for days. Absolutely beautiful!

  • song name please:)

  • @CytalistMusic the album leaf - the outer banks

  • Genius.

  • I wish you would burn, like that bear.

  • I want his shirt. Seriously, it's a fucking bear that's on fire.

  • 0 dislikes

  • @actualbrian someone disliked it now based on principle.

  • Where can i get lyrics to this poem?!

  • Take a step forward. Back straight, head up, eyes open, heart LOUD ♥

  • The Album Leaf in the background<3

  • I love him way too much.

  • if you listen from 0 - 3:51closely, you'll hear the most amazing piece of work ever.

  • @xPlaguezz more like 0:25 but sure

  • when he speaks, i melt. every time.

  • come on monique....COME CLOSER :)

    it doesnt matter the religion.

  • @expoamerica i know that lol , i just want to know where he gets his inspiration from since most of my work is inspired by my religion . :)

  • come on monique....COME CLOSER :)

    it doesnt matter the religion.

  • He has such a welcoming, calming embrace when he speaks!

  • in.love.beyond.words.

  • Mesmerizing.

  • why was there a beat its better just to feel his voice as he speaks.

  • flawless

  • I'm overly impressed by this poem, but his way with words usually have that effect on me.

  • @HeyZeus27 you're on the internet. Look it up.

  • Really quite good, but I'm not overly impressed. This kind of thing is a really common tactic at christian conventions (almost identically performed), and probably all religious conventions.

  • @MyCommentsRMaturelol Hm, I can see your point, although the religious connotations you are commenting on, to me, represent the essence of spirituality. Yes, he mentions a God but doesn't specify, he even goes on to "God prays to He asked it to help Him make something of worth." This creates endless stimulation for my imagination. The possibility of something bigger than this thing called "God" whatever you may perceive that to be? Some lovely food for thought.

  • @getbackl0retta Surely, the words resonate with my own Hedonistic, physical beliefs. I'm just so damn jaded with this sort of thing. At the aforementioned conventions, they try to induce the same sort of atmosphere of freedom and hope, but the things they speak about aren't accurate representations of their beliefs. Here the words match more closely with the feeling, but the feeling itself is still lost on me, and that's what this is really all about. It's no great philosophical manifesto.

  • The "church" he mentions at the end of the poem, "birthed of blood and muscle" is in reference to your body. Your own sacred body that holds "into this thing love thing called life," this life he is inviting you into so you can truly live and live fearlessly, something most people don't do... so come closer. This again is just my interpretation based on my own background and influences. Of course, these interpretations are guaranteed to vary through different viewers and their own perceptions.

  • @akatheeggman Hey, I don't know how to tell you this, but the music is actually part of his poem. That's not something that's been added in, that's how it is performed. So calm down, take a deep breath or two, and come into this video.

  • This man's way with words is beyond incredible.

  • i'd rather watch a motivational speaker. this is very...very, corny.

  • i cannot stop listening to this. right now, i need these words

  • Seriously incredible

  • This is truly amazing, I've never heard anybody recite poetry with so much passion and truth... God dammit...

  • This man is amazing, inspiring, incredible, thoughtful, and everything he says is beautiful.

And I've never even met him. <3

  • I saw him tonight. Blew my mind. I had him autograph my poetry notebook

  • I cannot, i literally can not, stop listening to this,

  • @wamhwamhwamh i have the same addiction :/

  • I cannot, i literally cannot stop listening to this,

  • Wow! I've watched/listened to this 3 times in a row and it is beautiful and powerful beyond anything my words can describe. I see comments concerning his religion, but what he says transcends religion. Religion talks about this thing called "god" but Anis' words reveal God. I've never been drawn to poetry, but the beauty of Anis' art has converted me. Thanks, speakeasynyc, for posting this video.

  • FIRE BEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful

  • he's absolutely beautiful. his words are unreal, and the way he speaks force them under my skin. i find myself in awe when i watch him. i cant blink or speak and i'm careful not even to breathe too harshly. completely unreal. its blows my mind that someone could even have the ability to arrange words in the way he does.

  • @yeawellwhateva that was a beautiful comment!

" i cant blink or speak and i'm careful not even to breathe too harshly. "

your sn doesnt begin to do justice to the person behind it ha

  • @yeawellwhateva the best possible words in the best possible order

  • more people need to se this. hell, EVERYONE needs to see this!

  • What religion is he ? He is SO good !

  • @moniquestaysfly

    He is Baha'i.

  • @speakeasynyc I hadn't heard of this religion before, so thank you for mentioning it. Just spent a good 2 hours learning about it. Very interesting stuff. I considered myself familiar with Iran so I was surprised to hear it's the leading religious minority in that country.

  • @speakeasynyc whats that?

  • @HeyZeus27 you're on the internet. look it up.

  • @moniquestaysfly Does it matter? His words are beautiful and perfect, no matter who they are coming from.

  • @thenoodletheory I just wanted to know . I'm interested in that type of thing .

  • @moniquestaysfly does it really matter?

  • @miladd123 someone already asked me that :)
