    in this case, A Magical Sage who controls the Death Zone sends him back to real life. or some crazy stuff like that. It's been years. XD

  • Yeah, levels are rather bland, but architecture is very sophisticated, i think.

    But don't niggle everyone with too much wall jump shenanigans.

    I can't believe that you did this in gamemaker, or is there a way to transfer the sonic physics etc into it? because all animations fit so exactly and all. I imagine if you try to redo Sonic in some Game Developer software the result feels a lot different from the original. hope you get what I'm saying.

  • This game was make 3 or so years ago, I understand the Sonic Level structure now, but proof of that will have to wait.

    Had to use wall Jump to keep the levels a little interesting. XP

    As long as you know the scripting your working with (on both sides of the spectrum) and the one your porting over to is capable to handling the same actions, you should be able to port over. As said before, I didn't make this engine, I only modified it.

  • It's not really scrapped, it's more or less on the back burner until I've better learned Game Maker.

    The Sonic Worlds engine for MMF is the best out there currently. I'd look into that if your willing to learn MMF.

    The Project is at Zone 3 now, but it's on hold for a new fangame I'm working on, which is due for release on November 15th (Write it down!)

    I might post a video of it before that. So lookout! :D

  • could you make a mac os x port? please. This is one of my favorite fan games i've ever seen (for about 4 years), and i really want a mac port. Is it possible?

  • Sorry, it isint. It's coded in Game Maker 6.0, 8.0 (which is coming out in 09') Is supposedly going to have Mac and Linux support, but thats a while from now. Night now I'm working on a seperate project codenamed Sonic Web Chronicles, which has tons more features than this. So just wait... :D

    BUT, i want to ask a few questions:

    1) ya see, in sonic games, i like the levels to have a continuos flow, is that in this game?

    2) Wil you add in super forms?

    3) Can you put in metal sonic, mighty, or any other forgotten sonic characters for fun? (i know metal sonics not forgotten, i mean for chaotix and etc)

    AAAND 3) if there are super forms, could we have hyper sonic?

  • 1, Sometimes. In order for this game to have linth, I've added puzzles and obsticles, so you dont spend the entire stage holding right. :P

    4. Hyper Sonic...No comment. I'm not saying it's impossable, but... :D

    Untill than, you might enjoy Sonic Web Chronicles. It just keeps getting closer to it's first public viewing!

  • Ya, thats been fixed for most parts. I'll go back and polish before I release a new version.

    Special Stages will be played in a 3D perspective, And all cutscenes have been drawn and are ready for a makeover!

  • Ya, There will be secret sign posts during the stages. Go though them and end the stage with 50 rings or more and A large ring will appear at the end to jump though! A little more difficult, but fun at the very least.

    The Special stages may use some 3D Effects or not, I'm debating that...

  • Most good Sonic Hacks end up at the Hacking Cult. look it up, and it should be the first link. I have TONS of hacked Sonic games, if you want we could share the roms though something..

  • I tried to download the game but it's just a big red screen.

  • Hmmm...The minimum requirements to play is Windows XP, 800MHz or more. is this what you have? Also, when extracting the demo, make sure you extract the .anim files with it or the game won't run. (don't worry, almost everything will be external in the next demo...)

  • Now THERES the problem. This is not A .ROM game. This is A Game Maker game. To play it, you download, extract, and run the .exe. If you have A mac, you've lucked out.

  • I must say "Sega of Amarica" is a lot more catchy that "Sega of America". And batas are so much better than mere betas.

  • Time warped sucks. :P And were working on the loading time and size, soo it wont be soo bad. But this only works on XP computers with 1Ghz or more, so...Sorry. It shouldint even be dissapearing. I dont know if its what I've done or if its just the way Game Maker works... But I'll try to do what I can.

  • Just for all you to know, Demo 020 is on its way. Its still got some stuff left to fix, but now its got A New Title screen, Badniks, Zone 2 act 2 (Finished), Cutscenes, and... MORE!

  • Most of the tweaks I made were graphics wise. Ive also added Springs, Badniks, Spikes, and moving platforms. Theres always more to add... :P

  • I had the same problem with my engine:

    in the loops, if you place one of the switch layer object near to the other, the player can jump, colliding with the layer object, and changing the current layer without doing the whole loop.

    to fix that, you can make a special object for switching layers, and in the collision event of the special object with sonic (you need 2 special objects), paste the next snippet of code: continue...

  • I used that method in Sonic Time Warped, but its A devilish prosess. I've worked with what I have in this game and have done a pritty good job of it too. but every once and awile...

  • Abit more? please dont take this the wrong way, but I put tons of time into creating these grafics and levels. However I have created A spring, death works and badniks are on there way.

  • Nice dude. You've got the gameplay aspect of it fleshed out really well. This looks like it could be a good solid game! I'll be keeping an eye on this!

  • Trust me, when this comes out there won't even be that ugly pre-set bar. You will select your charicter on A new title screen.

  • It looks pretty good, but it would be nice if you didn't use the horrid default dialog box.

    If you wanna change it, make a background into what you want to use for the box and before the boxes are displayed enter the code message_background(name of background goes here)

  • Thanks. :D Of corse, you don't see the few badniks I'm working on because they've still got some work done. Zone 2 Act 2 is not done yet, thats why it seems to finish rather early. But trust me, because this is the last stage WITHOUT springs, it will really test you skill. ;)
