  • I hope you had 3 cold, fresh waters ready. For them, not you :)

  • @horsejumperdressage * cool, not cold. hahhaa

  • i prefer thoroughbreds, but thats just me..

  • What about the poor one who came in the back...?

  • My pony is Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse, so I love both horses :) He's 14.3

  • my endurance arab could beat them all. i love qhorses too though

  • that was fasttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! awwsssome!

  • I prefer thoroughbreds,but that is just me. :)

  • Try putting them up against a Tennessee Walker. I'll tape mine next time they decide to have fun. The gaited Tennessee beats the QH every time.

  • To everyone arguinf over which is faster. Quarter horses are bred for sprinting at faster speeds and thoroughbreds are bred for slightly slower but longer racing.

  • We did this with my quarter horse, clue and my friends throughbred in a field, they were both hauling! But In the end my friends horse, flick won.

  • fyi te quarter horse is the fastest horse in the world they can run up to 50 mph and thoroughbreds can ony run up to 45 mph so learn ur facts smartone

  • I have a Curly horse and she out ran a off the track thoroughbred and she is 4 and the thoroughbred was 3

  • Well I could've told you who would've won without watching, lol ;D

  • Yes, technically QHs are supposed to be the fastest horse for a quarter mile, but some have been bred differently to have different strengths. Some QHs are bred to actually be calmer and have a naturally slower gait. The same with some Thoroughbreds being bred to have thicker bodies and legs to be better for jumping, rather than just going fast, which would make them not as good racers. With two different types of QHs and TBs, you could see the exact opposite results. Beautiful horses, btw

  • Yeah it is sad, horsemanship is a dying art. Most people can't even handle a thoroughbred anymore..

  • lol during the whole thing i was saying dont fall dont fall dont fall lol

  • That looked like so much fun :)

  • TB fastest long distance, quarter horse fastest over a quarter mile :)

  • @0rangehoof yeah thank youuu! TB are better for long distance but before TB racing QH were raced and are extremely fast and better for short distances!

  • that reminds me of me and my friend dpino88 becuz sometimes we race and i ride a grey fleabitten thoroughbred and she rides a bay quarter horse and i always beet her :P

  • Quite frankly it doesn't matter if a TB or QH is faster. Each individual horse is going to run and have a different top speed mainly over fitness levels. Both breeds are fast but were also bred to do different things. :)

  • tbs are the fatest breed hence y they are used for races... qh have tb blood in them to give them a sporty edge.

  • Quater horses had TB blood introduced into the breed to make them faster? the fastest thoroughbred was a measured speed of 57/kmph

  • Tbs top speed is 45. Qh are the fastest breed, their speed reaching 55. Tbs are meant for longer distances. So either horse cld have won. Height doesnt have anything to do with this race. just sayin (:n

  • The only difference between tb & qh is tb are meant for longer distance ilr.

  • that gave me a great thrill watching you 3 race! btw,

    mute this video,

open another tab and go 2 youtube,

type in Brand X Music - Heretic ( STRONG )

play both videos at the same time... EPIC

  • I love the horses. Actually quarter horses can reach speeds of 55 miles per hour. Thoroughbreds can reach high thirties and forty for a bit. So quarter horses are faster but they can't keep as long of a distance like a thoroughbred.

  • im going to have to quarter horse or appy sorry thoroughbreds

  • @TheWilltyrus112 recheck that i forgot the thoroughbreds that what kind my horse is.

  • The thoroughbred has longer legs therefore a longer more ground covering stride, but he is not as bulky as other larger breeds, which gives him quickness too.

  • @thebeastie14 Yes but the Quarterhorse has a large hindqaurters which can power it faster and it can turn alot faster

  • Your horse was hauling ASS. Thoroughbreds rock, and it's so amazing to run full throttle!!

  • i think we all know who was gonna win this...

  • Quarter horse all the way!!!! I like thoroughbreds to though... :)

  • quarter horses are good for the start and shorter distances and thouroubreds for speed and bigger tracks ,but there are exceptions to both breeds depends on the horse.

  • Just once I would love the freedom to do this. But no, every time I ride is a structured lesson confined within fences on a horse that I hate...

    No wonder I quit riding.

  • -.- everyone knows that on average quarter horses are the faster breed, thoroughbreds have more stamina that's why they race them, it doesn't mean that one breed is better every breed has it thing that its good at

  • wow that looks like soooooooooooo much fun!!!

  • worst camera person ive ever seen.............

  • @CaraG266 No NO, My mother is the worst!!!

  • okay so the quarter horse is the faster one but you did also mention that the TB is taller which makes a difference. and they arnt same height and weight, plus the rider must be the same height and weight as well. dont get me wrong i love both breeds, i have 4 horses 2 TB and 2 QH but the quarter horse is the faster one.

  • @samcowgirl

The quarter horses are faster because they don't have a lot Of stamina that's why they run quarter miles!! And that's why there called quarter horses:) also though reds are build for distances:)

  • I LOVE runnin through open fields! :D

  • put his head down, snorted, and pawed the ground. then he did something i will never forget. That 26 year old horse that could barely walk, sat down and threw all he had in to a slow gallop and he changed he wasnt in pain, we watched as the old boy ran faster and faster untill he was not only runing with the others, he was leading the horses. I gained so much respect for Thoroughbreds that day. He was sold to a lil girl that wanted a sweet trail horse but sadly at 29 he passed away from a stroke

  • one day the fince broke at my farm leting 4 horses go, a 4 year old appy, a 26 year old thoroughbred, a 2 year old mixed up pony, and an 8 year old QH, 3 of them busted out and the 26 year old was just like what r yall doin? so he followed... the QH was a barrel horse the othr 2 were about to start training. the 26 year old was a race horse then a barrel horse but we were told he was lame. when they took off the "lame" horse held his head high and watched them run away it was soo sad, then he..

  • WTF quarter horses are the fastest horse breed!!! My horse could tottaly beat that! He's 22!

  • @heartofawildstallion I agree 100% mt horse is 14.2 hands and she could blow him away!

  • @heartofawildstallion

Thoroughbreds are the "fastest horse breed"

Why do you think they don't race against quarters?

  • @SamCowgirl658 Thoroughbreds aren't the fastest horse breed...they are the fastest over long distances..the Quarter horse is the fastest over short distances. They don't race against Quarter horses because not every race is the same distance therefore it wouldn't be fair because the Quarter horses would be winning the short distance races while the Thoroughbreds would be winning the long distance races...it would be pointless.

  • @ilovecub1

I'm sure that's why horse racing is sooo important to the World, isn't it then?!

  • @heartofawildstallion No, quarter horses are ONLY faster than a TB a QUARTER of a mile, hence the name 'QUARTER HORSE'. Thoroughbreds are the fastest breed for the longest period of time...

  • @heartofawildstallion Only over a Quarter mile, hence the name "Quarter horse" Thoroughbreds are faster over long distance

  • @heartofawildstallion um you should get your facts straight. Quarter Horses are the fastest breed over quarter of a mile. Thoroughbreds are the fastest breed, though over long distances its the Arabian. Which, come to think of it, made quarter horses and thoroughbreds what they are today.

  • @heartofawildstallion horses are not the fastest horse breed that would be the TB, they are bred for speed. QH's are bred for their calm temperaments. Look it up

  • @DreamableHorse My horse is an AQHA and she has anything but a calm temperment. She can run like any TB though, wins me the 1D barrel races all the time. Breed only matters a litte, expecially when these two breeds are crossed over eachother all the time anyway. My horse is built for speed, she is pure AQHA and does not fit the "calm temperment", just goes to prove not every horse fits their discription. TB and AQHA are equally amazing breeds and both fast as hell.

  • @kashiimk I am aware not all qh's are calm, however the majority of them are and that is why I will be getting one for my first horse once I am sure I'm ready. I didn't mean to sound harsh in my first comment, I don't really like tb's because they are bred for speed, however.. them being fast they lean forward and are off balanced.. warmbloods are bred to use their hind end and makes going fast a lot safer and easier to handle. Sorry for the confusion

  • @DreamableHorse all horses and breeds are different. one breed isnt going to be more calm than another. theres are tons of crazy QH out ther and even the calmest one could turn into a nightmare ina split seconds. mares can be moody and times,my 1st horse was a mare and she was always bitchy, she would always trying to bite, kick whatever but she was so sweet. studs are the ones you have to be careful w so for your 1st horse make sure its gelded or a mre you deff dont want a stud

  • @3BarrelRacer Thanks for your info. :) I will for sure be getting a quiet mare or gelding. I do not want a stallion at all, I will leave those guys to the breeders! I train on a off the track tb and she can be a bit nasty, I will have the knowledge to own a horse one day, I am not going to be one of the stupid horse owners that's for sure!

  • @DreamableHorse haha good choice! and yeah mostly you only see pros actually riding studs in shows and stuff for breeding cuz they need top notch horses to breed mares to but they can be very dangerous and hard to handle just because of the hormones. and yes, lots of people have no business owning or even dealing w horses its sad

  • @kashiimk so your horse is an American Quarter Horse Association? :D

  • @xuppin18 lmao i guess so xD I did not catch I wrote that -fail-

  • @heartofawildstallion ahaha no they are not!

  • @heartofawildstallion

Quarter Horses are fastest in a quarter mile. Thoroughbreds are built for speed. But an Arabian would just keep going and going and going lmao.

  • @heartofawildstallion The world's record over a quarter mile was set by a thoroughbred, Pennsglitter (20.71 seconds).

  • Comment removed

  • @ That was not from a standing start. The fastest time from the gate was set by No Secrets Here in 2006, :20.886 A Quarter Horse.

  • @Karyn64 I see. Not really surprized.

  • i perfer the thoroughbred....both r amazing though:D

  • I have an ex race horse.. he would have killed these lol no offence ment :)

  • racin a thoroughbred and a qh isnt a far chance for the qh cuz they cant hold the speed as long

  • I agree. It doesn't matter what the breed is, it matters what the horse loves to do. I can tell you right now, my 14.2 hh Paint could beat any TB at my barn, because he loves to go fast! He takes on the Morgan mare my friend rides all the time and she gives her her head and I'm pulling back on my guy, and we're dead even. You can tell the grey loves to run. I love the guy in the back. He's probably wondering why in the world they were running so fast!

  • my spanish mustang can beat many quarter horse at barrel racing, its not always about the breed of the horse. I think its more about the heart of the horse. :)

  • it really depends on the horse. if you took an average quarter horse and an average thoroughbred and raced them on a quarter mile a quarter horse is going to win. it's a proven fact that quarter horses are faster in general. they just aren't build for distance like a thoroughbred where they can run for miles and a quarter horse can't.

  • I heard at one point in history thoroughbreds and quarter horses raced against eachother, but the quarter horse could only go short distances at high speeds, so eventually the thoroughbreds took over the race tracks.

  • Well not all horses are made for speed, thats coming from a barrel racer!

    QUARTER HORSES RULE!

Plus it is unfair that you take a winning TB against a QH that probably doesn't race at all.

  • The two with helmets are smart the other is an idiot.

  • That quarter horse was close

  • my thoroughbred is quick hes 18 years old and he is an ex steeple chaser and the race that he won he won by 2-3 furlongs no joke he trotted past the judges because he was soo far ahead he is really quick i want to race him against another thoroughbred but none of my mates own a thoroughbred so i am always in front xD

  • 0:18

Hey, that's what my puppy sounds like when he runs with a ball in his mouth! xD

  • It's kind of unfair when the thoroughbred was 17.2hh and only had a little English saddle; while the QH was only 15.2hh and had a heavyyy western saddle.

    Try it bareback >:D

  • @EqGingers chilll. i doubt they are racing for anything but for fun. and im sure the saddle doesnt make that much of a difference, its not like the TB had a 2 lb jockey saddle and the QH had a 50 lb saddle.

  • @horseluvr828 To be honest, I think I was as chill as it gets... And yeeah it somewhat does. No offense or anything.

  • the quarter horse is named after its ability to run the fastest over a quarter of a mile. They lack the stamina and so throughbreds are raced on the track.

  • ya tht one gal need 2 wear a helmet :/

  • hey, people let's not be racist! we love all the horses!!

  • Naww i love both breed but Tb's are my fave, my friend let me ride her ex racehorse and we went for a gallop and i was SUCH an adrenaline rush it was REALLY fast!!!

  • I'd rather ride a QH. TB's are too tall for me. lol

  • And, horses can easily go 55mph when they are younger and in shape.((: I've seen it a couple times at the tracks.

  • Did you guys know that every year at the Hoosier Park race track they have 3 QH and 3TB and guess who wins EVERY year? The Thoroughbreds. Thoroughbreds are just as fast as and QH. Don't get me wrong, I have 2 TB and all my others are QH's so I love both of the breeds, but the QH's get a lot of credit when they aren't AS good as everyone thinks. My TB's are wonderful as are my QH's.(:

  • @bob2dar the thing is theyre mixing more tb blood with modern day qh's to give them more speed. the original qh's foundation bred are the ones who had the most speed. qh's aren't what they used to be!

  • TBs, oh please, they are ment for english, not western.you shouldn't barrel race tbs. i LOVE quarter horses. They are much better

  • @352508 That's bullshit, no offense :)

My off the track thoroughbred kicked some quarter horse ass at a lot of my barrel races. And I hae quarters too, so I will agree they are awesome horses, but it's ignorance to say that tbs are only meant for english ;3

  • @Weaponsmaster8595 i have a tb that goes western, shes one of the best horses ive ever had

  • @352508 English??? Excuse me but TBs are second line to the arabian... the purest breed of horse in the world, so technically your believed QH probaly was breed from the TB you all american reject!

  • @1002Lollipop ewwww i hate arabians lol

  • @1002Lollipop Quarter Horses ARE the most international horse, and they ARE all AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is AMERICAN Quarter Horse! :P

  • @352508 well, actually the all AMERICAN Quarter Horse is the result of mixing Iberian horses which the Spanish brought with them, with English Thoroughbreds to increase their speed and some oriental blood to refine their appearance. So you're right, these great horses are most international :)

  • It also helps that the grey TOWERS over the other 2 ;) Twice as long as a stride. Pretty entertaining though!

  • did yuo know a quarter horse can out run a tb for a quarter of a mile cause qh run 47 miles mp and a tb runs 40 mp i think thats is so coll those girls went trying:D yuo should make #### 2

  • dang the grey thoroughbred is really really fast!

  • ya ya???? seriously. you do know that has no effect on the horses spead

  • HOLY SHIT THAT THOROUGHBRED CAN MOVE

  • Thoroughbreds are better! If God had a horse it would deffiniatly be a Thoroughbred!!!

  • The thoroughbred is bigger though. So she'll have a lot more power, (possibly). That could explain why the thoroughbred won. And the 1/4 horse is faster over a quater mile. I don't care what you say. How many races you've done and the TB won.

  • Well Spirit we are gonna have alotta fun now!!!!!!

  • i know the throughbred won but if god had a horse it would be a QH

  • The Thoroughbred didnt even get a headstart, he just started when he was suppose to unlike that "In a full run within 5 steps quarter horse".

  • The second one is the quarter horse.

  • which one is the quarter horse

  • The QH would have won with the right riding and conditioning. Quarter horses are faster than TBs over a quarter mile........

  • blue ridge thoroughbreds loves to see you have such fun with your horses. great stuff we are in oklahoma

  • the thoroughbred won, who gives a crap if it got a tiny head start it woulda won anyways.

  • My QH could have beat all of em! :)

  • He actually didnt get a head start at all. If you look up the quarter horses and thoroughbred races at the track, they have a race everyyear with 3 quarters and 3 thoroughbreds and the thoroughbreds win every single year. It is a quarter mile too, not the thoroughbred distance. Lol

  • No. The Thoroughbred was clocked at 56 mph at the track.. He is a beast. He wins all the time. The one that got last was a Thoroughbred too. It is the horse I just broke. it is his second day riding so that is why he lost. Astro is by far the fastest horse out of them. By FAR!

  • @barbaroluvr wow thats an amazing horse. do you realise he has beat Secretariat's top speed? and not by a small amount. Secretariat only got up to 38 mph. sea biscut only hit 43 mph. 13 mph faster this horse must be incredible. whats his name? I have to look it up.

  • @barbaroluvr Horses can't go 56 mph! It's impossible! 50, maybe, but that would be stretch. Also, if he were supposedly clocked at a race track your horse would be talked as the fastest horse in the world.

  • @barbaroluvr umh sorry but that's simply nonsense! No horse ever can go 56 mph!! I assume you know the name Secretariat?! His still unbeaten world record at the Belmont stakes was 2:24 for 1 1/2 which translates to an average speed of something around 38 mph. I'd guess a topspeed of around 40, maybe 42 mph is possible but not for a long time. They say Eclipse was able to go almost 44 mph but it's not confirmed. The horse has to be a cyborg or it was riding in a trailer to go that fast ;)

  • @Lossarnach23 Actually, The fastest horse clocked was at a speed of 54 MPH barrel racing. Yes, it was a quarter. Research, hun. Learn it.

  • @Haileyandbuddy well, HUN, then I guess you can give me a link where I can find this officially confirmed record?! logical reasoning tells me that the distance between the barrels is too small to allow for the horse to really reach top speed before it has to turn again, which inevitably slows it down but hey, I'm not an expert so it might be. on the other hand the AQHA lists the fastest time for 1/4 mile (from 2006) with 20,9 and that's "only" 43 mph running straight ahead...

  • @Lossarnach23 Quarter Horses can reach 55 miles per hour when they race a quarter of a distance. Its a proven fact. Thoroughbreds are faster going distance but Quarter Horses can still reach 55 miles per hour. And if Secretariat wanted to go 55 mph he would. He would run till it killed him because thats how much he loved running. So yes actually horses CAN reach up to 55 mph.

  • @dancingdiva32 Is it so hard to accept that there are limits to horse-speed? They're not cheetahs! There are official records for dif. distances and the top speed is 43mph for 1/4 mile, set by a Quarter in 2006. In April 2011 a TB called Overdose was clocked 40,39 mph on short track (1,8 km). Secretariats record of 38mph on 1 1/2 miles is more than 30 years old. In a race the first or second 1/4 usually is the fastest, few horses can speed up during the race. There are limits, believe it.

  • @barbaroluvr I thought he was also a thouroughbred, for one the conformation for a quarter was all wrong. and 2nd a quarter would have smoked the thouroughbred at first but in the end he still woulda lost

  • That Thoroughbred got a major head start, and the QH or... QH(S) should have won.

  • huh... the Quarter horse SHOULD have gotten first, but hey, they arent champions, so it could be either or.

  • Sweet ATV lol. & cute video :)

  • OMG you can hear astro's breathing problem!!!!!!!!!! lol!!! thats soooo funny!

  • @barbaroluvr not really funny, your horse having a breathing problem..? but lovely horses(:

  • haha looks funn! :D lol.

  • Omg i love astro lol he is very fast.

  • hey mine was in second...GO MOE

  • Your horse is a beast! :))
