Hi Ged, thanks for the great video. here's a guess for the item at 12:38 could it be the piece of metal that secures a musket to its stock with rectangle eye for the carrying strap?
Were you out twice today? lol only mad dogs and englishmen go out in the mid winter frost lol
by george I think you've got it ... A musket barrel band with rectangular eye for the carrying strap ... there was an English Civil War Roundhead Guardhouse about a quarter of a mile from where I live ... and I have been looking for Civil War associated items for 40 years ... you have made my day ... thanks matey
@PeaceHavens sorry mate but I think that is actually a form of 19th century harness fitting. They come up quite a lot, have a look on the PAS website they have quite a few on there....
Look what the cat draged in.. *SSS* Candel Snuffer.. Well I would guess it is a keyhole cover, witch you say - swing to the side. The curtain hanger - could it be something for a servant bell string.. Nice finds.. HH
I live in a Metropolitian Borough Complex with half a million residents ... but I go out of the city ... not into it ... I haven't been into the city for YONKS ... who needs one way streets going the wrong way to what you want ... parking meters ... people who don't speak my language ... pick pockets ... druggies ... drunks and wall to wall politically correct brain dead officials ... I prefer old fashioned country folk ... hence the acres of trouble free permissions that I have ...
Nice hunt Ged. Do you class your tokens under coinage or do you keep them separate out of interest? You seem to find alot of the Co-Op tokens you see.
I class tokens as coins ... we are talking about 6 this year ... the Keighly Coop tokens are indigenous to my area .. I once found 5000 Silsden Coop tokens while tip digging ... unfortunately they were iron and the vast majority were rusty and useless .. ah well ...
Peep hole cover on a door. Nice relics today Ged. Nice kitty also. I found the dog that goes with it. HH mate.

Hi Ged, I was just wondering about this Musket theory.
The wood below the barrel is rounded off on the underside, for the hand to be able to cup it.
This would mean the square eye would be on the top of the rifle.
That would mean it would be in the way of any aiming device.
Also, where would the barrel go in the straight top part?

The supposed George II is actually George IV. Circa 1822 my best guess of date.
