cool video Ryan I grew up as a kid in cabs like this in the old days and when I was a young teenager I used to ride the local switchers around here and go up in the cabs when the trains were stoped outside town here in the sideing those were the good ol days before 911 and Everything got Ruined for us Railfans here in the US
Great video Ryan! Wow, that's amazing! You were able to get in the cab of a SD40-2! I was able to get in a CN SD70M-2 once in Fort Erie, it was really cool! Got to use the e-bell, and blast the K5LLA! Your lucky though, you've gotten up in cabs a lot more than i have.
I know what you mean, when I was invited into the cab of the MP 40 it was the last train of the night from Oshawa to Union to Clarkson. We arrived early and were allowed in, it was so cool and automated. They were driving in reverse and we were in the first (cabcar) coach. The crew there left the door open and we stood in the doorway and basically got a cab ride. It was awsome.
I have never had the say no to me but if they did I would say thanks anyways and I would head away from the train and take more pictures then wave and go.
I agree, my dad grew up in the Gaspe (Que) in a railroad town with at least four relatives working for CN. He has ridden in cabooses, locomotives (Freight or passenger), everywhere.
Great video, getting invited into cabs is the best. You probabally shouldn't give too much info away about the crew, area etc as the crew can be fired as it is an offence somehow.
Yeah, My uncle told me that Ryan, I was invited into the cab of one of Go's MP40's. He works for CN/GO and he said not to upload any info or shots of the crew. You don't want to get a nice crew in trouble
I have met alot of crews and they told me the same thing, but I still don't get how it is an offence for them to let you take photo/video of them. Lots of folks get put on film doing their jobs, so I don't see why the railroad would be any different.
I don't think they normally mind but it's against railroad rules to allow anybody other than employees into the cab so they say don't give out any info about the crew or train so that it's impossible to find out who gave the cabride.
awesome!

Come to think of it they asked us if we wanted to, then they said to stand in the doorway to block the light, haha

Great job Ryan. The crews around here get real huffy when you ask to see the cabs, or get rides etc...

When you ask to come in and they say no, what do they do after that?
