Um, no. All the squats were below parallel and in the IPF the rule is that the thigh crease must be below the knees which all of these were meaning they would pass in the IPF. The only one that did not get low enough was Dave's and the judges gave him a 'no lift'.
I lift in USAPL/IPF and I saw two squats, the first one and Markskoski's, that would probably count no question. The rest were questionable or no lifts. On a side note, I really like how the narrator says, "the lift looked good" on Pasanella's squat when it wasn't even close. Got a good chuckle out of that one.
Too bad they use monolifts? A monolift is a progression in technology allowing for safer and bigger squats. Like in race car driving with better tires, or figure skating with better skates. I don't squat or compete using a monolift, but I respect those that do (even when their squats are seemingly high.)
I think it just allows them to use canvas squat suits that they wouldn't be able to do a walk out wearing so they can do 3/4 squats and post faux high totals. I'm not contemptuous of the WPC or anything. >_>
@LucPFT This is powerlifting not rocket science. Get rid of monolifts and multi ply gear. Nobody gives a shit about multi ply lifts anymore. After the WPO folded, the raw movement took off. Old school powerlifting.

Keep in mind this is a World Powerlifting Congress sanctioned competition, not International Powerlifting Federation.
Too bad they use monolifts for the Squat now.

@biglogstrongman I agree!

I don't think many of the lifters that are boasting 1000lb squats could do them without the monolift.
amarone1956 2 years ago
who gives a shit, they're lifting at their max capacity...

@museguest
look at most of the old vids...they were about at this depth, and the rule is thigh crease break parallel with knees. They barely did this.
Now adays the IPF and its affiliates say it must clearly be below depth, so that they can make you go a few inches lower.

Most of the squats looked shallow.

is this raw?
onepounch 4 years ago
no but the equipment is extremely old. Those bench shirts might have given them 10-20 lb. 40 at the most. The squat suits maybe about 70-100lb.
