He never(as the narrater) issued an insult. Some of his characters, who were losing their mind, made insulting comments but I dont care about that. You will find this in other works of fiction as well.

I have read many other books and novel, but I never read such a obscene book as satanic verses, the word "fuck" appears 52 times, bastards 33 times, and I never read something like "niggers eat white men shit" - ask yourself why this book was banned from more than 20 countries including south africa and India which are not muslim countries??? for racism and insult.

He was just trying to make the book's dialogue more realistic because lets face it, in today's world expletives are common place. And rightly so, they are just words.

Whatever you call rushdie he was no racist. When dialogue is written in italics it means that it is the character thinking.

And lets face it, both gibreel and saladin are eccentric characters who lose their minds throughout the course of the book

I have read the book and honestly I will no allow anyone of my family to read it, I think that every decent person will be offended by reading this pornographic novel, which i still believe that it is not a novel or a work of fiction.
