Looking at this video doesn't show me how "ghetto" it is. All I've seen were streets of Rexdale Blvd and surrounding areas and there are far more places throughout Toronto that you haven't captured. For example, Malvern, Regent Park, Parkdale, Chester Le, etc. They are lower class areas but in no terms are they ghetto. I grew up in Malvern and everyone worked and went to school and made a living..it's not an affluent area but people worked and went to school which is the most important thing.
Rexdale is certainly not an affluent area but it is certainly not a ghetto. Malvern is not affluent either but it is no ghetto. Lawrence & Moringside, Danforth & Victoria Pak, Jane & Finch corridor, etc............are not affluent areas BUT NONE OF THEM ARE GHETTO'S per se.
In fact you will find much worse neighbourhoods in north Regina and north Winnipeg. I've seen real ghettos in 3rd world countries and there's nothing anywhere in Canada or the US that compare to those.

@FeniXrisN This isn't the 80s/90's where toronto was green and echo-friendly. This is 2011. Besides, it's just my point of view. I lived in Toronto all my life and it just doesn't have the crammed building style like nyc does to cover up the dirt making it appear more "consistent" at keeping clean. Plus, public parks in nyc look no worse than an Eglington Flats park near Jane and Lambton Ave. The thing most people confuse nyc about is that it has an old architecture, not dirty.

@kzalldaz No, I'm talking about now, where NYC is nicer than in the 80's and 90's. NYC in 1990 had 2,500 murders for the year, compare that to anywhere. Anyway, NYC has gotten nicer and Toronto has gotten worse, I agree, but still not as bad. Plus check out East Oakland, Detroit or parts of Miami, it's 3rd world. Plus Parts of New Orleans? Foget'a'bout'it. Anyway, sure there's ghetto here in Toronto, where I live now, but they're a heck of a lot nicer than the USA ghettos which is why I'm here.

I grew up in Flint, MI and live in Canada now. Canada does not have ghettos.
Despite the difference between the rich and poor here, small at that in comparison the the States, Canadiens live relatively well, even in whatever ghettos they may claim to have.

Looking at this video doesn't show me how "ghetto" it is. All I've seen were streets of Rexdale Blvd and surrounding areas and there are far more places throughout Toronto that you haven't captured. For example, Malvern, Regent Park, Parkdale, Chester Le, etc. They are lower class areas but in no terms are they ghetto. I grew up in Malvern and everyone worked and went to school and made a living..it's not an affluent area but people worked and went to school which is the most important thing.

Rexdale is certainly not an affluent area but it is certainly not a ghetto. Malvern is not affluent either but it is no ghetto. Lawrence & Moringside, Danforth & Victoria Pak, Jane & Finch corridor, etc............are not affluent areas BUT NONE OF THEM ARE GHETTO'S per se.
In fact you will find much worse neighbourhoods in north Regina and north Winnipeg. I've seen real ghettos in 3rd world countries and there's nothing anywhere in Canada or the US that compare to those.

And yet, they still have neighborhoods like Brownsville in Brooklyn that have murder rates on par with the 3rd world at around 100 per 100,000. I'm from the Bronx. I moved out of NYC because the prices got too expensive. It's called gentrification. People want to live in the actual cities of NY and LA now.

All you have to do is simply look at the crime rates and you'll see that it's not even close. Regent is bad for Canada, but it would be by far the lowest crime project if it was in NYC, LA, Chicago, New Orleans, etc...

Cities like Atlanta, Newark & parts of New York have transformed & replaced dicrepit old buildings with brand new squeaky-clean housing that I personally would have no problem living in. & you mentioned 3rd world ghettos, remember US hoods are still filled with Americans while Toronto's ghettos are filled with people fresh from 3rd world countries who bring their living standards with them.
