Coleman's one of the very few fighters from his generation that can hold his own against today's fighters. I think Randy Couture may be the only fighter from his age group/generation that outclass him today. Even today, Coleam can still outclass Ken Shamrock, Bas Ruten, Don Frye, Dan Severn, and Tank Abbott. The man's got heart. Was an underdog against Bonner, and won. Won't be surprised if he upsets Tito Ortiz.
Coleman was a beast in his prime. The era of fighters that were among the best in the world in the late 90's missed out in the sense that they were in their prime before MMA got big. Could ou imagine if MMA was big in 1986. Randy Cotour, as much as he accomplished would have had an additional 15 years in the fight game to leave his mark.
Mark Coleman is one of my favorite fighters, and very deserving to be in the UFC Hall of Fame.
I loved how after he beat Igor in the 2000 GP Finals he was so happy that he was jumping around and fell off the ropes. Anyone else remember that one?
you clearly dont watch much mma then. Coleman in his prime was amazing.. UFC champ and Pride FC champ.. he was one of the pioneers of mma.. you really shouldn't be hatting on him
yup they say he got into the hall of fame because he was the first (or one of the first) to be a wrestler and coming into the MMA and showing that wrestlers can compete and actually win in the UFC etc and now if you look at the UFC a lot of guys coming in are wrestlers because as everyone knows after college there is nothing other then the olympics so they pick up new types of fighting and join the UFC
Coleman was not a PRIDE fc champion. He was the pride GRAND PRIX (tournament) champion.
I respect Coleman for what he did to the sport, but i don`t like the fact that he is cutting weight to fight in 205. I hate that! specialy he will get murdered in there
other than randy? are you fucking retarded? mark coleman invented ground and pound, royce gracie and ken shamrock showed the world what submissions are. you clearly don't know what you are talking about. and thats just ufc. you dont even know who fedor emelianenko, kazushi sakuraba, bas rutten and rickson gracie is dont you?
I believe Coleman was or maybe still the best wrestler to enter MMA. Even better the Randy Couture or Mark Kerr. He has never been mounted by anybody in MMA. I believe Brock can do this. However I have seen Coleman in Pride 8 just man handle a 265 pound muscle beast name Ricardo Morais. Coleman has explosive strength.
I know that in his day Coleman may have been a force to be reckoned with but please don't think that he has a chance agaisnt Brock Lesnar!! That fight is gonna hilarious ....he'll be lucky if brock doesnt rip his arm off and beat him with it....Good Luck Mark you're gonna need it pal

There have been many who've contributed to the sport prior to Randy. And their contributions are just as worthy.
