To everyone, go by the facts. Stock for stock the zx-10 and gixxer are usually + -2 hp apart and very close in weight. Also how you tuck behind the windscreen, your weight, and shifting are important. It is just plain silly to argue over which is better because in the end when it comes to gsxr and zx-10 the only real difference is the styling.
It's only street racing different guys different bikes different results I don't get it do these guys represent the manufacture's why does anybody care for this shit?

What was do to your gen 1 because I have an 04 with a micron slip on and thinking about doing a couple things to her. Also do you use velocity stacks since I hear they take away some top end power.
1st gen zx10Rs are no joke theyre the lightest bike out there and you can easily get 170 to the wheel... thats good enough to smoke any basic bolt on 1000 out there cept maybe a s1000rr. wonder what the 10 has for gearing... and when it comes to bikes its ALWAYS about the rider (weight, how well he can shift/ride, and tuck down)
@rawdyrider sorry to tell you this..lol but suzuki hasnt been st the top at all for the last 10 years...no where near the top actually. and the 04zx10 is one of the meanest bikes ever built.
@WTFCHECKTHISOUT who really races up to 170 mph? ive only ever gone from dig-100 or 40-140, rarely. lol and after i got my -1+2 sprockets with a 520 i pulled my friends 07 cbr6 by 2 links when we use to be dead even...so dont say its a mistake, just depends on what u race from.
best bet if u have to is maybe one tooth down in front...perfect balance and you dont loose too much top end speed...if thats not good enough to get ya where ya wanna be then get a bigger bike...period
thats another newbie mistake is the bs quick accelreation kit...u loose waayyy too much speed,u accelerate threw the gears way faster but for what? Problem with them is that you have gone threw the gear faster but as your wasting time shifting the guy w stock gears is still accelerating past u and doesnt need to shift
Based on the mods, neither of the GSX-Rs was set up for top speed - they were set up for quick take-off. By raising the rear gear or dropping the front gear you trade top speed for acceleration. Also, neither had a TRE. Remember boys and girls - the GSX-R1000 will top out at 180 mph without electronic assistance. The 04/05 ZX10R was the first liter-bike to truly run 186mph. These results don't shock me. Have your friends go back to stock gearing and grab some TREs. Then we'll see what's up.

Dani Pedrosa holds last years record at 349kph.......thats 217mph if you cant do the math.Thats from a Factory Honda Moto Gp bike.Yes there are AMA bikes going close to 200mph but ive been riding for over 20 years and have NEVER seen a street bike that was faster then a race preped factory bike.Not saying its not possible but not likely.As for getting a ticket for 208 mph,im still going with bullshit.

Ha..I love it...I used to smoke gsxr 1000's in drag races on my 99 zx9r....used to walk away from the 1st gen r1's also....allot is on the rider and the launch....its no secrete the kawi's have always had class leading top end speed tho even when thier cc's were smaller...check out 2cnd gen zx9r vs 1st gen r1's and 900rrs
