They are not doing a seals video because it's pretty overdone, and I think the station already did one a few months before STC started so it would be redundant. They won't do delta because it is a tier 1 SOF while seals and green berets are tier 2 and rangers are tier 3. Seals also have DEVGRU witch is their tier 1 unit. While delta recruits mostly from the green berets.

@amc0621usmc They have completed RASP (Ranger Assessment and Selection Program), and have been stationed at the 75th Ranger Regiment, hence they are in fact already Rangers before getting to Ranger School. Many of the Rangers that complete RASP spend a year or so in the Regiment before entering Ranger School (not mandatory by any means). Ranger school provides additional training and skills primarily in the area of leadership.

ALOT. as a ranger we would run and ruck march sometimes for 15miles in rough terrain. good job on asvab btw. are you in ROTC, if not..
i REALLY hope someday i can be an Army Ranger. i PT at least once every day, hydrate whenever im not doing PT, and im doing everything i can to better myself for this training. i took my ASVAB and scored a 92, so im hoping i can perform good enough physically for this. i think the water would get me out if anything though.

I went thru when there were FOUR phases. Made it straight thru and then ate donuts for 2 weeks for breakfast!! I can still tie bolens, prussik cuffs, etc.
1st day of training and they are already being called "Ranger". That's not right. In no part of any USMC training course do you get the title until you graduate.
IDK Ranger School doesn't make the officer. I've seen ranger tabbed PL's who have been morons and my last deployment our PL had not been to Ranger yet, but I would say he was the best PL I ever had in 8 years.
@thehotshirtguy2008 No it doesn't make the officer but it is intended to make him a better leader with the confidence to know he can lead in extremely tough situations. IMHO Ranger school is a great school for PL's who struggle with leadership...they learn alot about leadership under adversity. A strong PL who is tactically solid does not need it for any other reason than career progression.
Its good that they post these videos (especially this one because its fairly recent) because now people know what to expect and could prepare. This could help so many people and Im so glad the army allows this video to be posted so we can have an idea.
You know, I always thought it was crap it was so easy for officers to attend Ranger School. Most Infantry NCO's would love to get one chance at Ranger School but they send officers there like four times even if they don't get it.

Officers are not really responsible for those 40 soldiers. They don't train them, they don't conduct classes, they don't counsel them for positive and negative performance. P.S if you've been in the Army, you know nothing the army does is common sense.

I know the average enlisted soldier doesn't think too highly of officers, which doesn't speak too highly about our officer corps, but they do have a purpose believe it or not, and it's not just to sit behind a desk...Besides, those NCOs are not running platoon sized patrols, a PL is.

In my opinion, the Army is better overall. Although I respect the Marines, I just think the Army is better. In the Marine Corps, all of thier funding, operational support and equipment is owned by the Navy.
@xSonsofSunsx The Marines are a rapid deployment NAVAL assault force. Their mission is very different from that of the Army and their is no reason to compare the two.
I will say the Marines are far more elite given their higher standards in combat readiness and marksmanship and fewer numbers making its membership far more exclusive.
@2204Alpha And the Army has Airborne divisions capable of landing anywhere in the world in less than three days. The Army also holds more ground around the globe, making it a faster and more reliable source of power when it comes to war against any nation. Not only that, the Army is also capable of withstanding military counter attacks. The Army, being a larger group, will be more reliable against any world power.
The fact of the matter is, the Army can do everything the Marines can.
@xSonsofSunsx I believe it is 18hrs anywhere in the world for the airborne however keep in mind the USMC is an expeditionary force that maintains a QRF on floats all over the world but obviously the USMC is not designed to fight wars due to its size and commitments where the Army can be upwards of a million man strength.

Your average Marine will be better trained than your average Army non-combatant, other than that, an Army infantryman that goes through rigerous Airborne school, Ranger school, Mountaineer school, and many other different sorts of AIT will and are capable of beeing better trained than your average Marine infantryman who tend to say that they're all equal.
@2204Alpha AIT in the Army also tends to be, technology wise, more advanced. State of the art technology is also given to the Army first, since they are more heavily funded. Training methods in the Army are also changed every now and then, to see what training gives better results. At the end of the day, Marines are a better fighting force when it comes to small-arms enemy combatants. The Army is built up to fight bigger military forces, which nowadays, we don't see.
If anyone is about force and power, its the Army...all the heavy Infantry, heavy armor, and all the specialized Infantry belong to the Army. On top of that, there is also a MUCH larger number of regular grunts within the ranks of the Army. Army is about large scale, full on ground warfare...not beach assaults (although the Army has actually conducted the largest in history at normandy, as well as many others in the Pacific)

That WOULD be a slightly ok argument if the Army wasn't DOWNSIZING these days. And the Army's concept of OSUT is tip top. A longer training period, which is job specific, with same MOS recruits, taught by MOS specific Drills. It also allows for varying levels of intensity, depending on MOS. Its a good concept, you gotta admit. Although, the vast majority of the Army (only like 5 jobs receive OSUT) gets regular Basic, which MCRD IS higher quality than. So you're right. Haha.
@CaptainAmerica322 IMHO opinion if the entire wants high quality and commitment to a lifestyle MCRD is the only basic training the military needs the Corps selects quality over quantity where the Army has never and never will have that luxury. That is not to say that the Army doesn't have quality soldiers but lets face the recruiting of the Corps is better as well as its marketing. The psychology of how the Corps presents itself suggests they will attract a more committed individual.

@CaptainAmerica322 Now having said that these videos about Ranger school, Sapper etc... have always been the cream of the crop of the army. Units would run their own contests to establish the best of the best from PT tests to boards as well as the performance of the soldier as a general soldier to establish who will go to the school. The suck factor in these schools proves that only a quality committed troop will make it. Even by the Corps standards these Army soldiers are top notch.

i REALLY hope someday i can be an Army Ranger. i PT at least once every day, hydrate whenever im not doing PT, and im doing everything i can to better myself for this training. i took my ASVAB and scored a 92, so im hoping i can perform good enough physically for this. i think the water would get me out if anything though.

IDK Ranger School doesn't make the officer. I've seen ranger tabbed PL's who have been morons and my last deployment our PL had not been to Ranger yet, but I would say he was the best PL I ever had in 8 years.

IMHO Ranger school is a great school for PL's who struggle with leadership...they learn alot about leadership under adversity. Officers are not really responsible for those 40 soldiers. They don't train them, they don't conduct classes, they don't counsel them for positive and negative performance. I know the average enlisted soldier doesn't think too highly of officers, which doesn't speak too highly about our officer corps, but they do have a purpose believe it or not, and it's not just to sit behind a desk...Besides, those NCOs are not running platoon sized patrols, a PL is.

In my opinion, the Army is better overall. Although I respect the Marines, I just think the Army is better. In the Marine Corps, all of thier funding, operational support and equipment is owned by the Navy.

Your average Marine will be better trained than your average Army non-combatant, other than that, an Army infantryman that goes through rigerous Airborne school, Ranger school, Mountaineer school, and many other different sorts of AIT will and are capable of beeing better trained than your average Marine infantryman who tend to say that they're all equal.

Training methods in the Army are also changed every now and then, to see what training gives better results. At the end of the day, Marines are a better fighting force when it comes to small-arms enemy combatants. The Army is built up to fight bigger military forces, which nowadays, we don't see.

If anyone is about force and power, its the Army...all the heavy Infantry, heavy armor, and all the specialized Infantry belong to the Army. On top of that, there is also a MUCH larger number of regular grunts within the ranks of the Army. Army is about large scale, full on ground warfare...not beach assaults (although the Army has actually conducted the largest in history at normandy, as well as many others in the Pacific)

That WOULD be a slightly ok argument if the Army wasn't DOWNSIZING these days. And the Army's concept of OSUT is tip top. A longer training period, which is job specific, with same MOS recruits, taught by MOS specific Drills. It also allows for varying levels of intensity, depending on MOS. Its a good concept, you gotta admit. Although, the vast majority of the Army (only like 5 jobs receive OSUT) gets regular Basic, which MCRD IS higher quality than. So you're right. Haha.

@CaptainAmerica322 IMHO opinion if the entire wants high quality and commitment to a lifestyle MCRD is the only basic training the military needs the Corps selects quality over quantity where the Army has never and never will have that luxury. That is not to say that the Army doesn't have quality soldiers but lets face the recruiting of the Corps is better as well as its marketing. The psychology of how the Corps presents itself suggests they will attract a more committed individual.

@CaptainAmerica322 The entire institution of the the Marine Corps standards is something the Army should emulate. As a career ARSOF soldier what you see much less of in the Corps that you will see in the Army is fat troops, disrespect for leaders lack of an appreciation for the history of the branch or unit and general questional loyalty to the unit. First of all kid they are not equal the army is a giant corporation the Marine Corps is not the bureaucratic machine the Army is it is a much smaller more selective organization. Not only am I a career ARSOF soldier I was an ARSOF instructor who had the privilege to train soldiers who had left these different branches and joined the Army and ended up in ARSOF. For example people do not generally join the Corps to hide from the fight but many in the Air Force, Navy and some in the Army join knowing full well they are choosing a relatively safe job and yes they exist hence the term FOBettes.

@TheHighestKids As far as your comment about different types of warriors????!?!?!?!?? you mean like keyboard warriors or chowhall hotdog eating contest warriors???? There is one kind of warrior there aren't levels of warrior either you are a warrior or you are not period,. If you mean there are warriors in all branches this is true however the culture of the Marine Corps guarantees a higher % of warriors due to the lack of misunderstanding what you are joining and why.

@CaptainAmerica322 Now having said that these videos about Ranger school, Sapper etc... have always been the cream of the crop of the army. Units would run their own contests to establish the best of the best from PT tests to boards as well as the performance of the soldier as a general soldier to establish who will go to the school. The suck factor in these schools proves that only a quality committed troop will make it. Even by the Corps standards these Army soldiers are top notch.

If you're referring to "first in" well, thats also bull shit. Army has been "first to fight" in almost every war in this countries history. Its time for you to wake up and smell the bacon buddy. The Marines are a PROPAGANDA machine, nothing more.
