@90steenager It all comes down to fucking money, how lame. I wasn't really asking from a commercial standpoint, more from an aesthetic/musical one. I grew up on Robert's one, mainly the extended version and it's a classic sure. But the Jam and Lewis synths and basslines from the Cherelle version, which this is basically the same as except for a new singer, never got a proper remix and it's screaming for one. If this had been released in the early 2000s and received proper promotion...

Of course Mariah would have to sample Cherrelle's music then lay out her vocal track. Her vocals are not as well delivered as Cherrelle's. Mariah's version ranks 3rd after Robert Palmer's version and of course Cherrelle's version always rules. Yeah baby.
