This was such a beautiful production. It was so moving. The guy I saw who played Edward was just incredible. I think he was called Matthew Malthouse.. he did a great job.
Hi everyone! just wanted to know if this was currently a musical/stage show? I am quite possibly the biggest fan of Edward Scissorhands, from the magical music to the tragic ending... Would absolutely LOVE to be ab le to watch the whole ballet or to actually SEE the show xxx
i thought it is called edward scissorhands not" edward scissorhands, the guy who actually has hands but we'll just call them scissors cuz we will get viewers"
Its silent, but its brilliant! I went to see it yesterday in Manchester and I loved it. Even though Im more into the drama side of things I still thought this was amazing, Im not sure if you'll like it, not that its bad or anything its just personal taste . XD
the reason why he has normal hands is because Edward has Kim into his world of fantasy and where he is normal, which they have shown this by giving him hands.
This was the most amazing and beautiful piece of theatre i've ever scene. and this would have to be my most favourite scene. absolutely Devine!
Maybe in the musical they wanted to show that he dreams about that he would be with normal hands and without scissors, so it is what he's dreaming and also dancing with his love, Kim =O who knows...you cannot know until you see it
why the british want to change every movies in musical. When i was in london i saw a billy elliot's musical, a mary poppin's musical, a lion king's musical. why are they so much fascinate by these shows? I need an explanation.
I have a feeling that it's so they don't have to come up with new story lines, they can just tweak the plot a little and add songs and there you go, a new musical. Plus those who like the movies will most likely see the musical too. Not that I'm complaining! I love musicals :D
Technically its the Americans who made them musicals, Mary Poppins and Lion King both started on Broadway (New York) before they came to the west end. Billy Elliot was british tho but Elton Jon made a pretty good musical out of lol
No you're right, it wasn't. This is strictly for the stage adaptation. I saw it last week and this scene had me in awe - the costuming alone was breath-taking.
that is so beautiful! goddd i dreamt of going on it. but now it is closed. i'm so sad. first it happend to me when my parents didn't let me go on Tokio Hotel's concert.(yeah i'm a great fan of them. but of Johnny Depp's and Edward Scissorhands more!)and now...it happends to me again. i just can't believe that I'll never have a chance to go on it. this is so sad. i guess that i'm not that lucky with going on concerts or shows that i like. it always happends to me!shit!
If Im correct..I believe that Tim Burton got his inspiration for Edward from Robert Smith from The Cure. The two look very alike, physically and emotionally
I haven't heard that one, but I do know that the character was based heavily on Tim Burton himself growing up in suburbia and sketches he'd drawn over the years.
I saw this in Woking, It was so amazing, i'm not sure if its out again soon, if it is i'm going again. this is an experience of a lifetime. if you get the chance GO!
This a fantasy scene where "Edward" imagines himself with Kim and without the scissorhands that prevent him from being close to her the way he wants to.
The show toured the US last year. Sorry but I think you missed it...
This is one of my very favorite scenes! But I'm sad they have this part and not the end of the song when it goes back to reality and the act ends! The pose he does in the end is so poetic somehow. I really like it.
<<I've not seen this, but why does he have hands in this bit instead of scissors?>>
He has scissors at the beginning of the scene, it's a pool scene and he gets some alone time with Kim, when he exits, he has scissors, and when he enters, he doesn't. At the end of the scene, it goes back to the pool and he has scissors again. It's sort of a dream sequence.
waaa! i saw this in london!!! it was bloody fantastic. andandand, i was getting the train home, and i was reading the programme, and this guy comes up to me and my mom, and asks 'did you go to see that?' and my mom said 'yeah, it was brilliant! did you go too?' and he points at a picture of edward and says 'i was him.'
i nearly fainted! i got his autograph. best thing ever! >.<
I just saw EDWARD SCISSORHANDS yesterday, and I must say, there wasn't a dry eye during this number - or for most of the show. Even without words, the music and dedication of the dancer/actors really shine. Thanks so much for posting this so that we could relive these moments
Edward's "scissorhands" express his vulnerability as well as his inability to get close to Kim, to hold her or to express his physical attraction to her. In this dream sequence, those barriers (i.e. the deadly "scissorhands") have been removed and he is able to express his real feelings.
This was such a beautiful production. It was so moving. The guy I saw who played Edward was just incredible. I think he was called Matthew Malthouse.. he did a great job.

@bxexcxkxyx3 this part of the stage adaption was when Edward was dreaming what it would be like to have hands.
