Hi there I have the early model g5 2004 I think it may be the same thing wrong with mine. Read your replacement blog. I've been to apple genius and they say it's the graphics card. Mine have no fancy colours just weird pixel flashes. Do u think worth replacing graphics card or binning?
Many thanks. Jx
PS There is some eight abusive idiots on u tube isn't there. Read some of your comments. Jesus.
wrong, its a logic board capacitor issue, they were defective, and they fail.. easy fix, just replace the capacitors yourself or get a tech to do it if your scared. Doesnt hurt to do it yourself and learn though.
ztultus is experiencing a known video and/or power problem related to a component glitch on the logic board of first-generation iMac G5s. At the time Apple commented that systems falling within one of these these 4 five-digit ranges were affected: CK435-CK522, QP435-QP522, W8435-W8522 and YD435-YD522 and were sold during August 31, 2004 - May 3, 2005. I had three of these go bad showing either video or power problems and I made one good one. Check out my repair on my Channel at MacUsersGuide.
funny, I'm cooking XP3, Vista (nice try microsoft) Windows 7 build 7048, ubuntu and of course OSX 10.5.7... oh did I mention all at the same time.... love the guys that say mac sucks cause they don't have one..lolol
just like a fuckin mac.... i truely despise apple..... great idea but if ur monitor goes ur whole computer does... sad really still fuck apple they use fuckin intel noone likes intel ...... AMD ALL THE WAY!!!
Aw! What a shame. The iMac G5 is a brilliant computer (well mac) and It just decide to die. That video did upset me abit because it made it's own Mac Chime Sound and then the screen just dies. Is it a problem with the graphics card or something. Whatever never through it away because it is ilegal to throw computers into landfill!
This is very similar to how my iMac G5 started having problems. As it turned out, the capacitors were bad on the motherboard. Read the complete capacitor story and what the fix is for the problem. Do a search on Google Search for: iMac G5 motherboard capacitors.
omfg finally ...hey do you know whats wrong with cause mine does the same thing it staarts like that then the more i turn it off on and it works for like five mins ..do you know how i can fix it??? please
It's a G5 because the G5 models had the power button reachable on the right side while Intel models have the power button reachable on the left. And also, all Intel models have an iSight camera, this one doesn't, so it's an early G5 model.
Well I don't really know what happened to it, since I just told the tech support and they took charge of it. I suppose it has been returned to Apple and they've changed the motherboard or graphics card. Now it works fine again, but I can't tell really what has been done.
can i have it? :)

the gpu is dead. But repair is useless as Apple does not support ppcs anymore so get a new Intel one that runs Snow or Lion.

That looked like the old school cartoon "virus" eating your iMac! Mine did that too. That's so cool if it didn't have to die for it.

Ok:
1. you cant spell Dieing
2. everyone who argues over Mac & PC are dumbass, it depends on what you want it for as to what you use it for(me personaly prefer Pc a lot.).
And finaly 3. whats the point of making a video about a mac not working?

OK
#1- It is YOU who cannot spell "dying"
#2 It appears you also have trouble with "personally" and "finally"
#3- It doesn't surprise me you are you a PC user.

But "dying" is right, and you cannot spell "personally" and "finally" ! Remain being a PC user.

It's an early G5, because it doesn't have the built-in iSight camera.

I'm pretty sure that's an intel, not a G5. I could be wrong though.
captainbryan 4 years ago
