  • realy good gun, absolute!!!

my first gun from my two revolvers wars (its) a S&W 617 Target Champion,

    my second one the 625.

    greatings from germany

  • I want this model but so far all of my searching has left me empty handed. If anyone knows where I can purchase the S&W 22 model 617 please let me know. Thankyou

  • they should make a .22 magnum =)

  • @xxuncexx there is a .22 magnum

  • a 10 shooter

  • That gotta rock for hunting small game!

  • I'm considering getting one, but have come across reviews and problems with the cylinder locking up after just a few rounds, does anybody have one that can share some insight?

  • @plumbpetti +1000 rounds and no issues to report.

  • I have a SW 617.I love it .Thx 4 pics

  • I have one of these that's blued with an aluminum cylinder. I love it, I was able to shoot a turkey on the run, and not 5 minutes later I out did myself by shooting one out of the air.

  • Damn nice revolver for sure. Found them on gunbroker selling for $700 new. Ouch!

  • the barrel has 6 grooves? there is a painted version or interchangeable in order and fiber? is 6 inches?

  • 900 i wouldnt spend that on a 22. my sks was only 400 with 200 rounds

  • 900 i wouldnt spend that on a 22. my yugoslavian sks was only 400 with 200 rounds

  • Nice looking gun, How is the hammer and trigger pull? Can you do a video on how to break it down and put it back together?

  • I want one of these cause it feels just like my 686. Great gun that you can shoot on the cheap...and will last forever. Like every S&W I own, well worth the bucks.

  • i hate the ammunition you use :D i love ONLY Winchester and Federal :D

  • Comment removed

  • revolers are reliable...they never jam ...I want one!

  • A .22 revolver would be a blast! :D

  • whats the effective range?

  • @jroll21 Competitions are held at 25 and 50 meters. Effective range can be considered up to 140 meters.

  • im looking for a .22 lr revolver much like this one but i would like to spend under $300(USD), but i would spend up to $300. i know that the older looking revolvers like the "scout" tend to run alittle cheaper but i like this design and the fact that the cylnders come out for the use of speed loaders. so if anybody wouldnt mind giving me some advice i would greatly appreicate it! THANK YOU!

  • @TheGreatMrDrew If you travel to your local cabela's you can get an 8 shot .22 revolver with a wood grip, and a black barrel and cylinder thats new for 180 USD

  • cool looking revolver..what does it cost to buy???please.

  • @pentogram23 900 USD

  • for what this is it's way to expensive,, who'd pay almost a thousand bucks for a oversized .22 lr? it seriously it has the frame and weight of a .357 or even a .44 mag

  • These revolvers currently cost about $700 new in the United States.

    Pricey, but excellent quality guns.

  • Wow, talk about some nice macro images! Very nice, wonder how you get the cylinder face so clean on your 617?

  • Why is the 617 so Expensive? It is just a .22 LR and It costs more than some of the real guns like a .357 SP-101 or any of those 7 shot .357 Taurus revolvers. Even the Browning Buckmark is half the price of this 617.

  • @microminiskirt That model is almost identical to the 357 that S&W makes except for the smaller bore and 10 round cylinder. The machining, amount of craftsmanship, and amount of steel are all the same as the 686 model .357 which costs about the same. The hammer, barrel, frame, trigger, grip, sights, and finish work is the same as a .357 model. Being that a .22LR is cheap doesn't mean that the stainless steel is cheaper if its going on a .22LR. S&W is the Cadillac of revolvers, so you pay more.

  • Very nice!

  • nice squrril gun you have

  • were can i get one?

  • Excellent video. And, awesome looking revolver btw.

Where did you get those speed loaders in you video? What brand are they and where can I get some like them?

  • @jasonsg4111 the speed loaders are "DS-10-Speed" custom made by Mr. Dave Skrzela (Michigan, USA)

  • @jasonsg4111 wow thats great gun

  • i have got the same one !

    my first model !

  • I had a brilliant idea of creating a 10 round 22 revolver. I guess its already been done.

  • love the music!

  • another extremely high quality firearm by smith and wesson

  • Gorgeous gun! Thanks for the tour. I wanna see it action, but sure looks like it would be blast to shoot. Thanks for posting the vid.

  • what are these selling for ?

  • @sevendeadly69 Around 900 USD

  • @pereiramateus expensive...

  • @pereiramateus expensive.. for just .22lr

  • @pereiramateus GAWD!

  • @sevendeadly69 $750.00

  • Is that a K frame or L?

  • I seriously want one of these

  • Beautiful gun :)

  • I don't know why people use .22lr in pistols, I mean you'll get the same power with .22 shorts out of that short a barrel, cause in a pistol the .22lr just wastes about half the powder as the bullet leaves the barrel beofre it's all burnt, and it makes it alot loudeer, a .22 short in the same gun and bullet weight will go almost the same speed with about half the noise cause of the signifigantly smaller ammount of powder being wasted

  • @drewnickel yer i see where you are comming from... i just shoot them because there cheap and fun as hell

  • @drewnickel thats bull shit ,the .22 short clocks in at around 500 fps,the 22 lr clocks in at around 1200 fps depending on what type of round you use

  • @drewnickel Dumb question: Can you fit a .22 short into the model 617?

  • Hello. Do you know of any DS-6 (six capacity) for the older model Smith & Wesson?? Thank You. Sincerely,d JAMES.

  • that gun looks boring

  • this is the first revolver whit 10 loader

  • suleyman cakir has the same gun only bigger bullets great pistol though

  • Oh I love that it looks like my S&W 686.....

  • I bought a 617 for my son about 5 years ago. I looked high and low for a speedloader but nothing was available back then. I'm glad I stumbled onto this video and your information on the loaders. One thing Id like to say to those who cant understand the cost of this .22. Pick one up and shoot it. You'll certainly understand then. Its the best .22 revolver Ive ever seen, held or shot. For those who are clamoring for a .22 magnum, just buy a 357 44 if thats what you want. .22 is cheap fun.

    Michael

  • they should make a .22 magnum version, that would be pretty cool.

  • ill bet that thing is accurate as hell

  • could you have this in california

  • @1127raymond Yes, this revolver is legal in Kalifornia - for the time being.

  • why wood it b us safe inst it the sam cal.

  • wood that 22 fire 22 magnum ?

  • @ballygeale1 No. And that's a major safety hazard to try it.

  • @pereiramateus He asked because the rugers can. They have interchangeable cylinders so you can do either 22lr or .22mag depending on your taste

  • @ballygeale1 .22 LR and .22 Magnum are not the same calibre. They share a common diameter size but with a *very* different case length with a correspondent extra powder charge. Not only is physically impossible to fit a .22 Magnum on a .22 LR cylinder, and also the extra charge is a security hazard. Never use other ammunition on a weapon then the one listed by the manufacturer. Safety first.

  • @pereiramateus the only other ones you can fire in a .22lr are .22cb, .22 short, and .22 long.

  • @pereiramateus :I'm starting to learn about ammunition please I don't really understand the last sentence in your statement, which reference using other ammunition on a weapon then the one listed by the MFG. Thank you.

  • @pereiramateus i use .22 magnum in my .22 rifle all the time

  • @pereiramateus your right a 22 lr is like 32-36 grain and a 22 mag is 40 grain

  • @pereiramateus Hi my friend. can i hunt wolf or coyote with one of this?

  • @ballygeale1 they make .22 revolvers that come with 2 cylinders one for 22 long rifle an another for 22 magnum

  • @ballygeale1 . .22 and 22 magnum are a different round.. I suggest you do your homework on firearms before actually using one. Join a pistol club, learn about firearms, you cant just pick one up like on the movies, you will either kill someone or yourself.

  • Thanks.. I called S&W and the told me the same.

  • great photos as well

  • Can you shoot 22 magnum rounds out of a 617.

  • @scapilot No. Only .22 LR

  • are they produced with this charger 10 shots? Sorry i`m brasilian!!!!!But i love the .22 calibre!

  • @PATRYCKDELEAL The "charger" it's called a speed loader. Google for "ds-10-speed" and you will find all info about it.

  • 900-1000 USD for a 22lr revolver?

  • look's like a stainless steel frame

  • expensive for a .22

  • how much is it

  • Around 900-1000 USD

  • looks good

  • i shot one of these yesterday. the trigger was heavenly!!!! such a fun little gun to shoot

  • @eastkybanjo & closet punk:

From 1965 to 1984, a Brazilian company called Bangor Punta owned Smith and Wesson. From 1970 to 1977, Bangor Punta also owned Taurus. That is why S&W and Taurus revolvers are so similar. Once upon a time, they were part of the same company.

  • I was at the shooting range today. And i tried this Smith and Wesson out. Fucking sweet gun i must say :3

  • NICE. I would take that backpacking in the woods. would be the perfect gun.

  • What´s the price, more-less?

  • @barrosolui Around 900-1000 USD

  • is it hard to find non custom speed loaders for this?

  • @saj12100 Very hard. In fact the only speed loaders I found were the customs ones shown in the video.

  • i have seen today a pretty nice solide reloader for the S&W but i dont know if it goes with this one.

but it wasnt verry expensive that i know

  • @pereiramateus are they produced with this charger 10 shots? Sorry i`m brasilian!!!!!But i love the .22 calibre!

  • @ eastkybanjo, S$W NEVER owned or "took over" Taurus.

  • wow imagine magnum 500 with a 10 round chamber...

  • this is gonna be my first gun that ive owned i fired a lot of guns by when im fifteen im getting this gun for target shooting

  • it holds 10 rounds?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Yes.

  • Is this a double action only or a single/double?

  • Double-action.

  • if im not mistaken, ALL exposed hammer revolvers are either single or double (at least modern ones, old west ones probably for the most part only single action). im sure there are exceptions to that rule just like any other but from my experience thats just what i've seen is all

  • I'll be getting this pistol very soon. Got it laid back right now. Can't wait!

  • Great revolver. Mine is my most common range companion. Thousands of rounds fired through it. Just a pleasure to shoot and relax with.

  • whats more effective a 22. rifle or pistol

  • looks like a model 66 .357 Taurus. nice gun. i like how the rounds were sunk in.

  • got one on layaway ...few more payments.. got 4 inch barrel..it was 733 total.. not cheap..my wife wants one but she is getting the cheaper tracker taurus.

  • smith and wesson took over taurus not to long ago. i used to hate taurus but i got a nine shot revolver that looks identicle to this one. i even baught a 9 shot 22 mag cylynder from swith and wesson and it interchanges with mine taurus lr perfectly.

they both are wonderful firearms. probly one of the best revolvers ive ever owned.

  • nice!!!! i want one so bad

  • how much is it

  • Great video! I have referring back to this and you have helped me decide my next purchase. One of the best videos out there.

  • I wanted to see you shoot it.

  • Thanks for posting! I've been saying that this will be my "next one" too.

  • WOW. Beautiful. I believe my next choice is the 617 but with the 4" bbl. Could I please ask where can I purchase the speedloaders?? I have been having a hard time doing a successful search. I tried HSK but no luck. OR I may look at the S&W model 63 8 round capacity - any thoughts on both of these models?? Thank You. Most Sincerely, and Respectfully. JAMES.

  • The speed loaders are custom made in the USA by Mr. Dave Skrzela .

  • Hi. Would you have any idea about how many rounds you have put thru her? Also, did you notice any difference when "breaking" her in? Just curious. I just purchased a Ruger single Six .22 LR - haven't shot her yet but I just love her. thanks. sincerely, JAMES.

  • ... about 1.000 rounds already went thru. No special "breaking in" notice on a piece already very smooth from the box.

  • Solid design, high quality metal and finishing. The 10 version is a solid performer and a very nice to have extra capacity feature.

  • i have a smith and wesson 647 17hmr with a 8 3/8 barrel very rare gun i only payed $500 bucks and its mint like new i love it and i have a s&w 44 mag as well and the 17hmr is built just as well as the 44 mag that why thay are the same price pretty much

  • cheapest i have seen new around my area is 719. i dont see why the .22 model is just as expensive as the 357 magnum and 44magnum models

  • ... maybe because the materials, construction and finishing is pretty much the same, only the caliber varies. By no means the .617 is a "cheap an light" revolver "sub version" of the high caliber model. It's a (very) sturdy one for this manufacturer.

  • what is the 617 going for new these days?

  • This particular model - 6 inch / 10 shot goes for approx. 900 USD.
