I read this book in seventh grade last year, on my own, and was mesmerized by it. Of course it was a struggle reading the first chapter, for I was holding back tears the entire time. However, I am glad I read past the first chapter because the rest of the book was exceedingly beautiful, without the initial horror of the first chapter. I sincerely hope that this movie does the book justice, because it was a fantastic book.

to answer your question suzee3435, susie is played by Saoirse Ronan (pronounced Ser-shuh)is a 13 year old Irish actress. she also played the role of "Briony Tallis" in the new movie Atonement with co-stars Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. she also played in another recent film called "I could never be your woman" with michelle pfeiffer, but it has only been released in spain. :(
