If you have a good solid history of boxing behind you, the dude will only last a few seconds until you knock him out when he tries to take you down. Boxers have very very good footwork and if you can get close enough without eating punches to get him on the ground then you might have a chance. MMA is preferred if you get on the ground though.

Early UFC would hand select their opponents, now you have to try out? . Having to have no losses to be a champ leads to mismatches while some great fighters sit on the bench waiting for a turn which may never come. Take Mike Tyson, he got beat 3 times coming up, but they gave Tyson the W out of necessity. Green, Tucker, Smith.
