There's a difference between something sounding LIKE something else, and just stealing the EXACT melody. The "cocaine" part is similar, but the verse melody is EXACTLY "jealous again". I'm glad the Crowes sued her. Stuff happens. She didn't do it on purpose. It sounds similar to both songs but it's not intentional. Hey, you can't find many bigger crowes fans than I, but come on... I've heard way bigger rip-offs. eg. Flaming lips rip off off Cat Stevens Father and Son (Flight Test)
The melody of the verse is obviously the same, but the rest of the song is different. I don't think this is so cut and dry.

I LOVE Willie, Hank, Waylon, Merle, George Jones, Jerry Reed, etc. That is roots music for me. This mainstream country that is being packaged for the masses now is so glossy and poppy it barely resembles real country anymore. I like my country music gritty... not glossy.

Gretchen is hot! She's has great talent and will be around a long time. I just seen the baseball video which was the best I ever seen. I heard ESPN voted it number one. She's just like Kid Rock. She can sing any style. I personal like her country style. Just don't look and hear the negative crap! You'll always have jealous people! Your great. Can't wait to see what you do next!

Similar sounding songs aside, loewenj092382 should do his/her homework. Gretchen Wilson was put together by her own talent. She has been singing since she was 15 years old and cut her teeth playing dive bars up to six nights a week. Even you would admit, there is no denying that the woman has a voice. Check out the video of her singing Barracuda on this site with Alice in Chains. I'd like to see Ashley Simpson lip synch...oops...I mean sing that!

There's a difference between something sounding LIKE something else, and just stealing the EXACT melody. The "cocaine" part is similar, but the verse melody is EXACTLY "jealous again". I'm glad the Crowes sued her. Don't call her an artist, she's put together by a bunch of wal-mart stock owning suits, just like the hot-topic stock owning suits who put together shit like Ashley Simpson.

Stuff happens. She didn't do it on purpose. It sounds similar to both songs but it's not intentional. One time I thought I wrote the perfect worship song and then I heard "I Love You This Much," by Jimmy Wayne on the radio and I guess it slipped into my subconscious because my song sounded a lot like it. Gretchen is too awesome and too talented to be accused of ripping off others' songs knowingly. It's just unfortunate no one caught the similarities before the release.

Why is it that when a talented artist such as Gretchen Wilson has a song that sounds similar to another song, she's gets a lot of bad publicity but when a very popular artist (whether they're talented or not) doesn't?

I have to agree it did start out sounding like Jealous but then you have to remember that there are only 12 tones in the musical scale so everyone plagiarizes a little now then, you hear a riff and say Man I wished I had written that so you take and do a different take on it or variation of it

Not a bad song, but she should go ahead and pay the Black Crowes because she totally pirated the tune from "Jealous Again". She doesn't even change the inflection of her voice, it matches Chris Robinson's version exactly. /sigh just reaffirming my belief that all the good music than can be made has been made...everything now is just stealing from someone else

For about 5 seconds, the opening verse sounds like "Jealous Again". Then the song goes onto it's own. Folks, first of all, I hate 99.999999999% of all country music with a passion. But this song does not sound bad. Gretchen should not have ripped off the Black Crowes. They survive by touring, and don't depend on radio or MTV/VH1. Good luck to her.
