He really shouldve backed off with that move. He was no were near close enough to make a solid move, and the white car had the right to stay where he was.
That was definitely both drivers at fault there. Jacobs car went to the outside of the white car expecting to take that line into the Eau Rouge and didn't think the white car would attempt to grab that line. The driver in the white car should have been watching the mirrors to make sure Jacobs wasn't coming up on the outside and give him plenty of room so this incident wouldn't happen. Some people take risks like that and it pays off, not for this fellow though.
Eau rouge....your suppose to give room to the guy in front, not a passing zone. This is almost EXACTLY how Stefan Bellof was killed in 85' when he tried to pass Jacky Ickx at the EXACT same place.
yo do NOT pass in the Eau rouge apex.. Webber did it to Alonzo but in F1, you can hear the motor of your competitor if he's close..and Alonzo moved to let Mark by..
especially not if you have no chance for overtaking like in this situation. But whit two great drivers, it is possible (Alonso and Webber^^, Alonso and Hamilton...)
@justRE4xD I always thought that when you lost the inside of your curve you had to slow down accordingly and change your racing line to yield to a certain point to avoid contact. Unless its easier to just ram into the next car and claim innocence (Ickx-Bellof) 1985. Most cars comes with two little mirror as to remind you that you could be overtaken anytime even if you havent planned to be. LoL
A) you don't pass there esspecially at the start of the race
B) He wasn't fully alongside only about 3/4 which to dive in on someone you should be completely side by side
C) it is the reponsibiliy as the overtaking driver to pass in a safe maner which won't pose a risk under normal circumstance of contact
D) The #3 was comming in on David on the straight then moved away near Eau Rouge which might have made David thing that #3 was giving him the corner but refer to A)
@resublimationFlo Wrong, it is the responsibility of the overtaking driver to ensure the pass is safe. There is no requirement in racing for the driver in front to make being passed easy.
Pretty scary crash, slightly over ambitious trying that into Eau Rouge, don't think the other guy even had the faintest idea that David was there either.
after examining the video I feel if the driver did not throttle lift he could have made that gap in front of the car that blocked his way going right.. the driver should have known after throttle lifting to brake and get behind then continue on.. not be side by side
@AntDX316 if he did not slow down he would still crash. He's inside and he won't make the first left. He would have overshoot. In any case one should position in line entering eau rouge. side by side is purely suicidal. there are many other corners to fight for position and this is not the one.
@golferchin76 well with those cars if u throttle lift the guy behind who is in full throttle with just go pass.. and by the look of the gap and these being professional race car drivers.. it looked like that white car with the 3 on it gave space knowing the guy in the back going to pass would fit just in.. but he throttle lifted.. with these cars u don't need to throttle lift that area
@AntDX316 The white car was not trying to give the space to the car that caused the problem. He was simply positioning himself inline just like the cars in front of him, getting ready to going into the eau rouge in a single line. Eau rouge needs throttle lift, enough to maintain speed. In the radicals if you full throttle into eau rouge is it likely to overshoot the next right bend.
The point I am trying to say is. A smart racer will cross the finish line and collect points. A DNF counts 0.
@golferchin76 it looked like he was giving space cause he was in the left mirror then the white car moved right and slowed a bit down.. when u throttle lift too much in racing or brake the people in the back pass u.. everyone has like the same hp maybe 1 or 2 difference but the same.. he could have fit in just right.. if u don't believe he gave space.. then u dont know racing
I know racing and race cars way more than you do. I am a race car driver.
Like I wrote before, the front car was positioning himself getting ready to do a perfect out-in-out into the first left of the high speed S.
Are you blind can you not see every car in front quickly positioned into the racing line (to remind you, it is the right side of the track) and entered eau rouge safely?!?!
What are you trying to prove? The guy destroyed his car and ended up DNF. That is stupid.
@golferchin76 what kind of race cars do u race? ur the type of people who race who complain and get scared and think someone drives messed up when they rn't and just giving way, like omg this guy doesn't know to drive he drives crazy but infact he knows where u r and ur just the paranoid driver that doesn't know what is really going on
I have checked your channel before I post against your so called "after examining the video."
Your problem is that you know little to nothing about race car physics yet you tried to analyse a very complicated situation which only race car engineers & drivers understand (your attempt made you look like a fool)
The fact was that, in the chaos the whole front pack lined up, when into eau rouge single file yet this idiot think he could overtake and fucked up, causing a DNF for himself.
@AntDX316 and all this time you have been arguing that he is doing right and that...... crash your own car did not cross the finish line and collect points are the worst thing a driver can do, to himself and the team.
did you even notice that you have been posting the exact opposite to what everyone was posting? Some of the posters track and race. And you, enjoy throwing pie on girls face? screw yourself you gayshiite.
@golferchin76 if he kept the pedal to the floor he would have made it through.. most likely clean but I'm not 100% sure.. at that speed and with those cars every little change is a big change
@AntDX316 A Radical does not generate enough down force to create adequate grip to full throttle in and out of eau rouge. 100% throttle only happen with Formula 1 and GP2 single seater which is full speed final gear and has nearly 2 tons of down force when the car goes into the corner. Every other type of race car (including LMP1) on the planet has to lift a bit and maintain the correct entry speed.
You are right if he did not lift he will pass the front car, but he will still overshoot and DNF
@golferchin76 not really because he can go bumper to bumper with that car he would have been behind.. just a slight decrease in throttle = no hit, he just got scared when he saw brake lights assuming they would have kept slowing down and/or the car he was going to pass would get that margin and close it..
@AntDX316 Anyways dude. From my racing experience I know that in every track, there are corners you can attack, and there are corners you simply have to stay put. Some golden rules of motor racing:
1. If you want to finish first, first you must finish the race.
2. The driver in the front car always carry more psychological pressure than the rear car.
3. Observe front car's brake point, driving style for a lap or two, pick his weak corner and attack.
@golferchin76 simply in racing.. if u dont brake whe ppl brake u hit them.. the guy here used instinct but was off placement thinking the guy he was going to cut was going to take the gap but the guy he was going to cut thought he would take the gap.. yeah it's like that.. conflict.. think of it as 2 baseball players going for a fly.. both think they would get.. no one gets it or they hit each other
@golferchin76 The SR8 can take Eau Rouge / Raidillon flat out in 6th. Even with a full tank of fuel. Although not in this situation. You need the perfect entry which was quite clearly not going to happen in this clip! He so should have backed out of it and got a run & tow through Kemmel.
Never have I gone side by side into Eau Rouge, it kills Raidillon for both of you. You can always get a good tow through Kemmel and have a proper tussle through Les Combes and beyond...
@golferchin76 the thing is with this kind of stuff.. it requires precision of timing.. if it's off just a little bit = crash.. so it's like pro driving for years.. 1 mistake .. fucked
When I saw the title and description I thought the crash was at the beginning, but that was just a minor hint of what was about to come. Hopefully he was ok.
Purely davids fault. Why did he dive in....should of stayed behind the white car knowing how you need to clip the inside in order to safely navigate the rest.
@wolfstriked Just to add, this same driver's been mentioned in the latest Autosport mag for crashing into a parked car in the sandtraps of Brands Hatch T1 as a result of not slowing down under waved yellows, reportedly to maintain position. The picture shows David Jacob's car smashing face-first into the parked Radical, narrowly missing the recovery vehicle and a Marshal seemingly on the floor having dived away from said vehicle. The result has been a 12 month ban and license demotion.
@pvtdangles Completely different. Webber was level along side, if not in front of Alonso at turn in, he had the corner and Alonso had to yield. Jacobs is never far enough along to even think about making a move here.
