Rivers is an asshole. He'd rather suffocate for a few minutes inside a drum case and be discreetly transported past you by a roadie than to have to look a fan in the eye. For supporting him, I'm sure he's thankful. In private, he's mocking you like some asshole high school bully inside his tour bus. Completely unexpected coming from someone who wrote those very tender songs early on - but it's true.

Well I mean you have to keep in mind that this song is extremely hard to sing. Some people don't have the voice range that Thom does, but Rivers did a pretty darn good job even though he doesn't have that range.
