I have had an Asus UL50Vt for about a year now and I must say it is very useful, I can play games on moderately high settings with little to no lag. The only problem I have is that it seems to overheat now, I believe the fan may be malfunctioning or dusty but I am unable to take off the keyboard in order to get to the fan.
this laptop is by far the best buy for anyone on a budgets. it plays games fairly well and is very very very portable. great laptop for any college student who enjoys gaming from time to time.
Also, this is extremely light for a NOTEBOOK. Anyone wanting to go with a NETBOOK might want lighter. This laptop can actually handle MODERATE gaming. It's an overall INBETWEENER. great for a WoW-playing fence-sitter like me! :D
@KidzTech I've had a lot of problems with it and asus keeps telling me its software. I've sent it in twice and gotten it returned both times with only a reimaged harddrive. its possible its one of the pieces of software I'm using messing up, I think it might have been k-lite mega codec pack even so I haven't reinstalled that.
@KidzTech I doubt it, if you got one without the dual GPUs it maybe possible but the GPU switching probably wouldn't even work on xp. I guess you could do some research on the web to find out though
@richy0o My comments probably a little late .. but.. this laptop is comparable to the Alienware m11x difference being the graphics of this laptop (g210m[310m]) and the m11x's 325m. Consensus: ofc it will play WoW. lol:).
Can you post a video of how the turbo33 works (how to turn it on? or is it automatic/on the fly?). And also benchmarking results (processor speed before and after turning on the turbo33)
I bought one at Best Buy for $699 last week. It has a 15.6 inch screen which is a plus for a 12 hour battery. I found no issues with the touch pad. I bought mine mainly for streaming video from the network television sites and as a portable DVD player. I highly rate this laptop. If your considering this particular model I say : GET IT TODAY !!This model weighs in at 5 pounds. I was actually considering getting an ipad until I realised I can do more with a laptop.
yup, iPad's are luxury items that are a few notches below tablet PCs. It really is an enlarged version of an iPhone (now the iPhone 4 is pretty similar to the iPad) . How many cells are there in your laptop battery and what's the battery life? I saw a Toshiba T235D-S1345 and it had the specs I wanted (its T135-S1234/S1235 predecessor blew me away with performance and battery life at 6 hours 720p playback, but the cpu of these had higher TDP and lower System Bus). I'm stuck between these
@BumSlave it should, the processer in it is rather powerful for its power saving. And it has plenty of ram to do photo editing. I know of someone who uses this for editing HD video
@turbo5546 a little bit to late I suppose to thank you for the reply. As soon as I checked back and saw it I went out and bought; I must say not disappointed at all! Thanks again!

I own the ul50vt which comes with two video cards, the intel and nvidia 2100.. this is a cool feature u can switch video cards for battery life, but the problems is no drivers for them!!! im still using drivers from last year, I called asus and they told me they are working on a solution, because Nvidia or intel wont do any specific drivers for this laptop.
I contacted Nvidia and they told me to upgrade my drivers to a optimus, no luck the UL50vt is not supported..
Very nice I was thinking about getting this cause of the price and specs and battery life at Bestbuy. Can ya do a Bad Company 2 video at Medium settings? I have a feeling it will run pretty smooth with the aa turned down to 1 and low shadows settings.
@Wigtilo its fairly good, I haven't posted any more benchmarks cause I haven't had time, but I plan on making one of MW2 and batman. I've tried batman and at default settings it was rather playable, I know from experience that MW2 will work but I haven't tested it to see how well yet. Also if you look at my other videos I put of a benchmark video of it running l4d2.
Pretty nice laptop and battery is amazing. I bought it at bestbuy and the only had the this 15" model. I actually wanted the ul30vt which is a 13'3 screen and only weighs 3.9 pounds. This one is a great laptop but little to heavy in my opinion.
@aslan8642 I've run virtual machines while on battery so I'd say preaty good, you got plenty of ram and the cpu has a lot of power, specially with the over clock from the factory. I don't notice much of a hit when compairing it to my 3.0ghz core 2 duo in my desktop and my 2.53 core 2 duo in my gamming laptop. but I guess it depends on what you'd be doing

Is it possible to actually put WinXP on this model instead of Win7? Are all the drivers available?

Also another good thing is that the version at bestbuy has a different touchpad and the palmrest is not shiny like this one.
