  • In australia it is very rare of natural disasters, we have no emergency systems at all (sirens)

  • The siren gave me goosebumps, it sounds a lot like the tornado sirens they have where I live...

  • Allright........ This video is ment for educational purposes. This is not ment to be an America agianst Japan debate room, or a WW2 riot. This man has done nothing wrong in this video or in any other videos so reporting him to authorities is uneeded. If you want to comment than make sure it is supportive and clean so it won't start any crap. If you want to have a discution with someone than message them so that we Don't have to watch you guys complain like 8 year old children. Thank you.

  • I Want To Help Japan! SO BAD NO ONE KNOWS BUT ME!

  • One of the tragic aspects of the 2011 tsunami was watching the ocean flowing unstoppably over these same protective seawalls.

Japan was hit by the May 1960 tsunami from an immense earthquake in Chile, similar to the 2010 one, and I think several hundred people were killed. Even though there was a Pacific-wide warning in 1960, Japan did not participate in the system then and thus did not issue any warning.

  • Those walls can be ALOT higher!

  • Omgosh you look just like my friend Bob. Thanks for the videos I appreciate you being able to share this with the world. Were also glad your okay!

My Cousin was able to get out of there 1 week later and back to Hawaii, she was east of Sendai and thankfully was ok.

    Blessings to all.

  • Whoa after 3/11/2011 you wouldn't even have time to run up to a safe spot. Lesson learned Tsunami warning dont go to the waterfront to check it out instead go up the nearest mountain with some food and water and watch it on ur iPhone

  • brapo ore mapus?

  • wow ppl just shut up about ww2...that was like 70 years ago....and this has nothing to do with war so stfu and watch the video

  • mga buct!!!

  • thanks for making video sending donations and help to the 8,9 earthquake would be nice. we are all people and humans must act in a community matter on this issue =]

  • gee, people just cant help thensevles and have to bring up race and religion, and the past..idiots.

Anyway, back to the video. I just say this in relation to the audio. Famous last words..

  • @07iraqian Sir,you are an idiot.

  • @07iraqian Yet the US is over 20 trillion USD in debt, mostly to China/Japan and the UK. How would you fund your army without that money?

  • I'm just thinking that the Japanese could now think about making a bigger barrier that has a wall that expands vertically. Also, I would create boats with modified anchors that would keep them isolated to something strong enough to hold the boat. The boat could then act like a buffer; I think their best bet would be to run a huge pike down into the Earth that can withstand tremendous Force.

  • These walls probably look a lot like eachother but still it looks like the one I saw on tv that didn't make it .__. D:

  • wow burly realized this one was on Feb 28 2010 from chile earthquake DX

  • that tall wall is small, i live next to a river and our flood wall is about three times as tall as yours. seems like we should switch walls because the only major flood that happened here was somewhere around the 1970s, before the wall was built.

  • @m6mkk I thought the same thing mate.I actually wonder if there is anything left from this wall today.

But truth is when nature goes wild there is no protection.

If you build houses to withstand an 10 rixter earthquake, a tsunami will sweep them away.

And if you build them to withstand a 10 meter high tsunami, a volcano may erupt right under them.

And if you survive all that, your nuke factories will finish the job...

My deepest condolences to the people of Japan, with a wish for a quick recover

  • I'll feel sorry for that van if that big door were to close o,o

  • Something large will soon happen

    all humans know that

    god bless us

  • @cosi66 well its obvious somets gona go off big time either world war or the planet fighting back nostrodamas predicted it 2012, bless us my faith is going

  • Would be interesting to see this place right now.

Was it hit by the tsunami? Perhaps when things cool down a bit you could go there and show us how it looks, and if the wall actually protected the town.

  • type in japan earthquake and thers a bbc link show the aftermath live

  • @conortehgamer I was talking about the specific area shown in this video, not about japan in general.

  • I just realized this video is February 28th 2010. Not a bad wall design, but it could be a double edged sword to those it is suppose to protect.

  • hope this jelps but theres a person-finder for te tsunami and earthquakes in japan: "japan.person-finder.appspot.com" hope this helps

  • I wonder if the constant alerts creates a "cry-wolf" effect. IOW, did many people underestimate/ignore the recent tsunami warnings because they are so frequent and often don't amount to anything?

  • Just had a thought. Those walls that help keep the water out can also keep the water in. and in light of what has just happened it can also make things worse because the water can not escape. just a thought

  • which part of japan is this happening in?

  • Anyone know how these walls and doors held up on the 11th? I'm guessing not well, having seen on TV the wall of water rushing over buildings.

The thoughts, prayers, and hopefully pocketbooks, of America are with the Japanese today.

  • Mother nature is mad... because the of the japanes whalers!

  • @M4A108 Plenty of whales and dolphins also die yesterday.

  • @Daviysoh I was talking that the japans whalers is killing the whalers in south pole.

  • @Daviysoh And by the way those animal can sense it thousand miles away i am sure most of them escape from the area.

If you are living in the area and you have a dog your dog will bark and bark and he will acting so strange. And take a look around if you don't find any birds around you. You consider it something coming up and take your precaution.

    Animal Instincts is 100% accurate.

  • wow

  • @craziibailey He means by preventing less deaths, you're the idiot here

  • @Animewover300 ... Less deaths? that is not what he said... he said "could have been prevented" with the size of that tsunami trust me the wall would have to have been about 50 feet tall and still then the water had to go somewhere... it was 2 fast and 2 strong... so yea you are an even bigger idiot then he was....

  • lol the vid was in 1march 2010 and the quak/tsunami was after 10 days kind of funny :D

  • that wall needed to be taller. they needed to add huge walls across the whole city i mean cmon Japan. i think their far more intelligent to have let this happened it could have been prevented :(

  • @MKnobek

    palant. naucz sie języka

  • fuck your technologies

  • We don't need to help them because they didn't help us? Come on, there are a lot of people in Japan who wanted to help, and are now the victim of the earthquake+tsunami. So please, just help these people, and don't be selfish

  • @middle0name0lawrence your a dumb fuck. the last thing the Japanese are are communists. They make just as much money as England if not more there Capitalist as shit.Oh and yea just forget about the US-Japanese partnership in practically everything...To not help Japan would be like to not help your adopted brother..

  • @middle0name0lawrence The Japanese aren't communists. Those are the chinese. And they probably think the same about us. I mean look at what we did to Hiroshima.

  • @KingsField418 Yea, fuck America!

  • @Fucksvensker I didn't say that....how bout, don't fuck anyone.

  • @KingsField418 We only did to Hiroshima because of what THEY did to Pearl Harbor.

  • @rprince418 Wow, one piddling harbour. Whoop-de-doo.

  • @KingsField418 And why did that happen?

  • @middle0name0lawrence Why would you say something so hurtful, have you no sympathy nor shame? How would you feel if you were in Japan and a earthquake hit and then on top of that tsunami to follow resulting in the death of someone close to you and whom you love? I'm sure you would be devastated, so why dontcha try putting yourself in their shoes?

  • @middle0name0lawrence What are you talking about? when Katrina hit they sent generators and aid to the US o.o

    Get your facts straight :U

  • @middle0name0lawrence OMG hahaha you are ridicolous man! It's 'cos people like you that there is war and racism in the world. You are like a medieval dude! Wake up guy you are in the 2011!! You are not different from a Nazi! You demostrating a deep ignorance! Japan is on of the nation that help USA after Cathrina! And you fucking bastard president have Nuked them in the 2nd WW! But they have no resentment! I would like that an atomic bomb fall down in your ass. FUCK YOU! SHAME ON YOU! PITY!

  • why would people dislike this video?

  • Keep holding on, cause you know we'll make it through we'll make it through. With you by my side I will fight and defend, i'll fight and defend! Yeah yeah! Stay strong Japan

  • @iiGenisis who the fuck are you saying will fight and defend next to japan, america has already helped enough fucking countrys

  • FUCK SUSHI Prices may go up!!!!

  • I hope america does more for Japan. I'm donating some to red cross for Japan.I'm not even there or family in japan and i'm all emotional about it. I've never even been to japan but i'm still going to hope and do what i can do help.

  • The wall that's supposed to protect the town from the tsunamis is way, way too low. That's going to render it ineffective right there. :(

  • Here in chile was 8.8 and the tsunami kill almost the people when all sleeping....

Lot of strength to everyone in Japan will be praying for you greetings from chile !

  • nice coverage nd, btw which software u used for the text @ last ??

  • Wait, this video was a year ago.

  • You found one of the lucky places. nice

  • this new made me really sad, i hope the japanese people are alright

  • OMG It Really today! 8.9 earthquake in japan + tsunami.

    strange

  • Where did you make this video?

  • Japan is awesome as always!

  • stay safe!!

  • Japanese my felt condolences by this disaster that has charged the life of so many innocent. But it is important and imperative that you as the world know the true responsible for this tragedy because againt of all the opinions this one is not natural. Please do the search with the keyword INWO in youtube and then see all the videos on the matter. THIS IS NOT A GAME!. The day before yesterday was Haiti, yesterday was Chile, today is Japan. And tomorrow?

  • Those little walls didn't help much though did they? Futile gimmick to ease the people...

  • do you belive in Godzilla now??

  • This video was posted on Feb 28 --->>>2010<<<--- you fucking morons!!!!

  • those walls, those preparations could not save the incoming monster wave that still hits japan, the wall looks cute seriously.

  • So why doesn't Japan have modern levies for stopping, or at least reducing the damage from a tsunami? One would think they would have learned from the New Orleans disaster. This is a very sad thing to see all these people losing everything.

  • @Ninjawithaphone Japan has probably the most modern and advanced warning and protection system in the world. Yet, they have to protected the whole country and it was a 8.9 earthquake. All the best engineers in the world with an unlimited budget wouldn't have stood a chance.

  • What the fuck is that wall going to keep out a damn dog?

  • Is this the first time you have encountered an earthquake/tsunami? I ask because I know you have lived there for a while but I'm not sure if you have or not

    Thank you

  • yet

  • U guys do know this was made in February after chile earthquake this isn't the one that happened 11 hours ago

  • @meany1023 that would every person understand if he looks at the date that the video was posted. but i understand that dump people need u to tell them;)

  • @meany1023 February 2010 lol

  • Brother I pray you got out of there ok. I pray for all the lost one and the one left behinde. May the Lord have mercy on all of you!

  • This dude can read the future! o,o

  • Did the walls helped?

  • @yamasnik nope x(

  • This video is From Feb 28, 2010

    !!!!

    dam ppl

  • @XxillusionSx Amazing lol

    its so creepy

  • Hope for Japan ♥

  • you dind did your homework good enough because 1000 are dead now !

  • @pellis4 who can predict the nature !! Its beyond human control

  • @pellis4 Looks like you didn't do your homework. errdurr!

  • May these events to let us understand how lucky we are and appreciate our lives. I reckon from today those walls will need to get a couple of meters higher. I hope good concrete helps will get there immediately, they do need it

  • There a tsunami warning and earthquake and your calm ! lol

  • THE DOORS ARE A JOKE, OR?????

  • Very sorry for the japanese people (and the whales)

  • Those walls helped people have some more minutes or teens of minutes for escaping, even if the wave was higher than the wall. It is definite that the wall saves lots of lives.

  • I just hope this saved some lives after what happened today... My prayers go out to those who lost their lives, and to their families.

  • The wall is way to low..that will never stop a tsunami

  • let's take a moment to gather our support & prayers to the victims and affected places, click LIKE on our community page at Facebook, type God Be With The Tsunami Victims In Japan in Facebook and click LIKE. every awareness and prayer counts in these times of hardship...

  • i hope this preparation helped those people in japan affected by tsunamis..Lets pray for them!

  • @jucon06

lets not pray, but do something!

  • @jin54363

    ..

its the least i can do..don't underestimate the power of prayers.....

hw bout u? wat will u do for them?

  • @jucon06

    don't know :/

    you have any idea?

  • People, this video was uploaded in 2010. this is not the new tsunami.

  • How long after an earthquake are the walls closed? Do people usually have enough time to get behind them?

  • @bryon41 it didn't matter......wave was 10m high it went straight over the top. If you have a look this exact bay is on the new right now

  • Seems like the Japanese Goverment really cares about there own people..wish my goverment here in the states cared about us..they really don't..all they care about is what is going on across the water..and who they can bully..

  • that siren sounds like a MARS siren, sorry, siren nerd here

  • you should pursue a career in voice acting your like Danny dyers resurrected self

  • I've never experienced a tsunami. But as long as earthquakes don't harm anything I find them kinda funny (I've never felt one that did any harm). The sensation is just so weird. >.<

  • That bread reminds me of hardtack and i'm sure its just as nasty.

  • a bit like galvestons beach wall.

  • I live in Hawaii and with all the concerns about if the sirens sounds, during the scheduled practice; what would happen? We have advance warning, 5-6 hours ahead of time and it is on TV continuous for the 5-6 period focused on the beaches and the waterfront areas. With all the diffeent modes of communications, there are many methods on how to warn the residents in Japan well ahead of the actual time that the tsunami arrives.

  • do they test the sirens so much in all the cities?

  • Dosen't the testing get annoying. And what if there is a tsunami at a time when they test the sirens, won't anybody react then?

  • @Penthaligon From how it appears they only sound the sirens for a brief moment during testing. If there were a tsunami alert during the test period they would sound the sirens continuously and the people would then take appropriate action. And as far as being annoying I'm sure the people are just used to them.

  • this tiny wall will protect against a tsunami O_o?

  • @Seirios86 LOL well I guess its better than nothing though.. right? xD

  • I wish my country would have been this prepared for the earthquake and the post-tsunami. Anyway happy it didn't happen anything in other countries.

  • oh great, they test it and freak the hell out of foreigners :D

  • Interesting. Much respect for Japan.

  • ...300 earthquakes a year. xD Now I'm a bit scared to visit Japan, haha,

  • Neat! Reminds me of the levees here, though they're not as sleek as the wall.

That stuff looks like hard tac. Blech! Not too bad if you soak it in soup, I guess?

    ~Kat

  • Awesome coverage. Your videos are always informative. What part of japan do you live in?

  • @mikeq5

    Thank you!

    Aichiken.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom :) I freakin love japan.....Im scared for you #prayforjapan

  • @mikeq5 america should take notes on the concrete walls with water tight doors mabey use that technology along our coast (Gulf Coast hurricaines).....but sad to say we are a very ignorant people persuing the demise to our very own existance and all in the name of profit.......i guess on some level we deserve it

  • @wambolt1212 You forget the USA is many times larger then Japan. We simply cant afford to make these walls every were. Our population is to spread out.

  • @Vdubb i guessing by your profile pic you are a vet and if i am right in assuming that i would like to say thank you......as for the walls i was mainly refering to the gulf coast....thats the one that recieves the worst of the storms...as long as we start somewhere...i never likeed this one but "rome wasnt built in one day".....we have plenty of funding if we (the us govt) just put it towards the right things ( i.e. things that will improve scociety and our civilazation)......

  • tarda mucho en cargar

  • Like Paul Hogan.. you can live on it... but it tastes like sh**! :-)

  • @numloxx

    yep!

  • That must be thrilling and kind of scary at the same time

  • @Jay42207

    yes!

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom when is the tsunami season?

  • @pinksunflower100

They are caused by earthquakes - so they can happen anytime..

  • is that two sirens every day 365 days or just when the threat is ongoing

  • @bigfoot32194

    Yes, every day.

  • 常滑港... It is Aichi prefecture, isnt it?

  • @dana3

    yes

  • nice one

  • 2 sirens every day!!! That is like WWII movies!!! And too many and too crazy but 300 earthquakes per year kind of makes every thing sense. Now I believe that, that is toughest unstable location on earth.

  • Got a question:

If youre on the sea-side of that wall and the door closes are there letteres so you can get over that wall or are the doors closing so slow you can get through in time?

  • uuhm

i thing a ladder would be more usefull than a letter :>

  • @bjhgi

    occasionally ^_^

  • LOL, that siren went off in your vid and scared the hell out of my cat who was sleeping next to me on my bed. Cool vid. I keep checking out all the small cars behind you though.

  • that wall is not tall enough!! @_@ haha

  • 5 Stars for the world standard of what a civilization should be like.

Though, I don't think that wall will be tall enough for the tsunami that may hit Japan in this day and age.

  • the sirens remind me of the tornado siren in my town

  • Pretty scary! We only had 2 foot waves along California...first time I've ever heard of a tsunami (as little as it was) hitting our coast.

  • Wow, I'm impressed with Japan, they clearly care more about there citizens then North American country's.

  • @DrSatan187 they just dont try as hard lol

  • I'm not impressed with Japan, they're doing what is to be expected. I'm disapointed with USA.

  • @Alfrida Please, just shut up.

  • @Alfrida dont forget the USA was made from inmigrants, and has lots of muticultural people. Therefore is harder to take care of every person living in the states

  • @Pasguiroq what does the usa being multicultured have to do with it taking care of its citizens?? ?
