Norway has been less affected by the financial crisis than the rest of europe.
We never opened the north sea for any other than norwegian oil industry. That USA bought a lot of the oil we exported doesn't matter. The oil money is invested in stockmarkets, but our govt have been careful about what we invested in. The oil fund is still huge, and will continue to grow. We have a good average economy, and usually don't even need to spend the oil money. The "financial crisis" won't affect us much.

no it's not - worst of the housing problems, credit crunch is behind us. Once ECB and BoE start cutting i-rates towards end of year due to slowing growth in those markets, USD will rise, oil will fall. The world will survive and this will be a blip on the radar - people need to get a grip. Everyone forecasting the next Great Depression will feel embarassed in a few months I think.

You have got to be kidding. What leading economists are saying that? You must not be reading the same publications as I am, like WSJ, Businessweek, FT. Pure numbers don't really tell a very accurate picture, because the economy generate $14 tril in GDP per year. Think of it in terms of a person earning $75k a year and having a $200k home loan - no big deal. Trade deficit isn't that big a deal either because the countries we buy products from (China) end of investing all of it back to the US

Well, fortune 500 invest tons of money on economists who say it's over. Your learning from major media outlets...think about it. The US is not making money...if so, the debt would be obliterated. US currency has no backing so it earns on a credit. You're not grasping what is going on...the international community will take it's investments out, and what is stuck will just cause countries to have the ripple effect.

I still don't know where you are getting your sources from that leading economists are predicting a depression? Debt isn't bad, regardless of Dave Ramsey. The $ isn't collapsing - it's being controlled by the Fed and the Treasury. Exports are booming as a result of the $ weakness. Keynesian ecnomics says that a lower $ will result in higher exports which will eventually stregthen the $. Why would international investors take money out? If they do, where are they going to put it?

They will put it in another investment of course with a higher currency rate. My job consists of me traveling a lot, many of the countries I've been to have lost millions upon millions and have food shortages. The Fed not run by the Gov...it's a private organization...they caused the 1st Depression just the same as they will this time...they're making legal tender out of thin air. Yes, higher export until it's gone and China's exports continue at lower prices and even higher output.

Uhh, 16th amendment allows the Federal government to collect taxes. Not sure what Fed you are talking about that is privatized. I'm talking about the Federal Reserve. Also, I speak Chinese and lived in Guangzhou for a spill. China is a great growth story, but the growth is so fractured - it is only limited to the cities on the coast. China has a serious potentail internal unrest issue (not talking about Tibet) - talking about the migrant workers - all 100mil of them.

Easy way to tell if the Federal Reserve Bank is a Private bank is locate the address and check the property tax records. Government agencies don't pay city property tax. Private companies do. The FRB, the same one you are thinking of PAYS TAXES. If in doubt, I can send you my most resent correspondence with the the good ole Fed and in THEIR OWN words they will state how they are Fucking us. They are not at all shy. People perceive high's as too high, and low's as too low. It's really not that bad out there. We don't have huge job losses. Food prices are increasing, but not by leaps and bounds - around 5% across the board. DC is going to be bailing out some people's mortgages. Many real estate markets in the US outside LA/Florida have already been on the upswing. Again, the addage applies - buy low sell high.

There has only been one depression in US history and was not sudden. Do you know why food prices are going up - it doesn't have much to do with supply/demand. The world has not run out of food. Corn based ethanol is a key contributer, as well as speculators. Eventually supply demand will come into play and commodities will revert to a mean. Why is debt too much? People are able to pay their minimum payments, the gov't certainly doesn't have problem paying theirs.

Where are you hearing that food rationing is occuring? Just because Sam's Club allows only 4 sacks of rice to purcahsed at a time isn't really rationing. They are doing this so people don't stock up at a lower price, and then Sam's is stuck with potential more expensive prodcut later with fewer buyers. Show me one piece of data which points to a drastic fall and depression. You can't because it doesn't exist.
