The punch line is that there were orange flavoured crisps, test-marketed in Canada around 1978. People described them as plain crisps heavily coated in "the floor sweepings from the third shift at the Tang factory" (aka Tango in the UK). They were a major disaster, and caused the brand serious damage for years.
I have a feeling the recipe in this video would taste better.
@MMfromthenorth - I can still picture the bags of those Orange-flavoured chips, hanging unloved & unsold, with their Cherry-flavoured and Grape-flavoured siblings. A major marketing mistake for Hostess Chips. Even though I was just a little kid, I wondered what the hell they'd been thinking.
I never tried those fruit-flavoured chips, and I never met anyone else who did, even as a dare. 25 cents was a lot of cash to a kid back then---too much to waste on something so obviously nasty!
