  • Wes Bryan here: Haven't heard this one in years but it was always one of my favorites from Buddy.

  • Buddy died on this date Feb. 14 in 1999, he was 65. RIP Buddy we still love you.

  • I've been a fan of Buddy Knox for more years than I care to mention, but must admit this is the first time I've heard him singing"white Sports Coat"...he does a fair job...it must be an alternate album track, probably from his Norm Petty Roulette years

  • As often as I've seen this video posted, I've never taken the time to give this version a listen. I certainly like the way this white coat is being handled but It dosen't sound like Buddy Knox. If I didn't know any different I wouldn't of guessed it was Buddy. I know Buddy Knox best for his Three Eyed Man, Party Doll & Open and yet I wouldn't know that was Buddy I was listening too with The White Sports Coat. Thx4 postin'.

  • I prefer this to Marty Robbin's rendition.

  • i hope he wasnt gay. he was good doin party doll with that drummer beatin on an upturned cardboard box

  • Oh love this song :) Buddy knox is one of my favorit singers know=) Listen to his songs everyday can´t stop listen;)

  • i use to think that covers were a lack of talent but now i just love to hear someone else take on things.

  • ¿ is this from their roulette early period or the latter in liberty records? it sounds from the age of ling ting tong and lovey dovey, liberty era in 1961

  • You gotta love this dude and that wonderful smile. But alas, I heard he smoked a lot and died from lung cancer, just like my dad.

  • It is skillfully covering this wonderful song which became a big hit in my country in front of above half a century.

In that I listened, Buddy Knox is the best.

    Thank you for nice posting.

    Greetings from Japan

  • Thanks,

    Regards from Canada.

  • A few years ago I purchased a Buddy Knox very rare Lp, and that song doesn't appear. Anyway, in my mind's still Marty Robbins as the best, but I also love Buddy's rendition. Thanks for posting. Greetings from Spain

  • You're welcome, Greetings to you, from Canada.

  • I Have always enjoyed this Song by Marty Robbins, but i have never heard this version.

    This is a Lovely Version.

    Thanks for this.

  • Yeah, Marty's my favourite singing this, but I am a big Buddy Knox fan also.

  • Grew up with Marty Robbins'. But this is very nice.

  • Yeah, Marty's version is the best, I just thought I'd throw in Buddy's version since I am such a big fan of his. If you are a Marty Fanyou should hear a tribute song to Marty called "He Sang The Songs About El Paso" by Billy Walker, It's terrific.

    Barry.

  • I'm glad you posted this. I enjoyed it, very much. Will check out Billy Walker. Thanks for posting many of my favourites, Robin Luke's 5 Minutes More especially. Best, Pat.
