All AR rahman songs have 'Tappa kooth 'going on in the background . he will always go back to the same drum beat he had in his first song.  How did he compose for Roja have no clue

along with the music of Ilayaraja, i love this song for the Oyilattam performed....that's a beauthiful dance form that is not much known or appreciated these days, i guess!

Illaraja deserve to be known than what now he is. In my view he should be in the world top 10 music genious list ever. He has 1000 numbers of song composed, takes very less time to compose a song, he can compose song with out any music instrument(with pen and music sheet) "MUSIC LEGEND".

(I'm french ) and I've been shocked that I had never heard even his name before .

He gave me gosebumps , joy, sadness, bliss with one soundtrack . I 've been ( and sill am ) very very impressed by his music. So deep and magic. It's a shame he isn't more widely known.

@rainbud There are so many musical legends in India who the world is not aware of. Mention Indian film music and westerners immediately think of bollywood. If you want variety in music, please listen to Tamil music. Having said that, tamil music's best time was - in my opinion - even though these composers worked for longer than mentioned here - MSV (1961-71) IR (1976-86) ARR (1992-2002).

You're right, B-wood is so much more widely known . Thing is, their movies are more accessible as they are systematically subtited, which isn't the case of all Tamil movies . I guess it does play a part in it.

It's thanks to ARR (and Mani Ratnam ) that I've heard of Tamil movies and IlaiaRaja.

Still, I am amazed I hadn't even heard his name or one of his track before. It's a real shame.

Never heard of MSV I think, will check it out, thanks a lot for the input !! : )
