Fentanyl is an opioid and is to be prescribed to patients who have been on an opioid pain medicine for an extended amount of time on a daily basis and are expected to be on it for a long time. These patients are safe from overdosing with a fentanyl patch unless they abuse it because their bodies have built a high tolerance to all opioid (narcotic) drugs. so it is just as safe as any other narcotic drug if properly prescribed by the doctor and taken exactly as prescribed.

No. Drugs have to pass rigorous clinical trials at many levels -- drug AND drug delivery systems (like TD patches) must meet these standards. I took Duragesic (gel patch) for years & have been on the Mylan patch for the past several years with no problems. Stop fearmongering! When used properly these meds restore Lives for many people!

Bunch of dumfuks here - the type of patch shown CAN'T LEAK... there are several types of Fentanyl patches - the Mylan patch has no liquid or gel - the Fent is completely tied up in a plastic layer and CAN NOT LEAK

actully every body on this post is partly wrong.... fentanyl patches with no gel CAN NOT LEAK... the reason the mylan fentanyl patches were recalled was because one single thread in the matrix had come undone witch does not support a leak but will release more than usual.. fentanyl patches are still good for up to 2 days after the supposed time has run out.... i want a gel one though....

The Mylan Fentanyl patches were never recalled, just the brand name and the Sandoze brand. I OD'd on the Sandoze, and was switched to Mylan because of this

@jimadlerhouston I know there was a recall and yes it was HORRID that ppl died.That being said, I have been on 100mcg Fentanyl patches(q3days) for years now and if it wasnt for them, I wouldnt be ableto still work, Dj, Anything really. SO dont down something that had ONE recall but has made MILLIONS of lives BETTER. You are a poser spouting rhetoric and that, my friend, if far more dangerous than any recalled drug.
