When I tried this in Adobe AFter Affects CS5, not only did the red background /screen disapear but it took red out of the characters too! And I don't mean they were wearing red, since they were animated animals. One of my characters was brown, but when I tried this it took the red out of the brown and now I have a semi-transparent green dog! Help...?

just gonna add to your tutorial: most of the time when you greenscreen, its most likely your gonna need to colour correct the footage (either whats in the green screen or over) because its a good chance the colours wont match! :)

this one of the main differences of sony vegas and AAF they both are good but sony vegas already have the "GREEN SCREEN" and you just have to select which color you want to delete :] BOTH ARE PRETTY GOOD :)

It can be any colour you want it to be really, green and blue are most commonly used because they are least like peoples skin tones, where if it was red for example it would effect the tone of the skin. Just make sure tho that if you are going to use a white wall don't have anyother objects that are white aswell because they could all so dissapear.

You know, the other day and went out and bought some blankets that were green, bought a set of lights on a tri-pod to try green screen effects. No matter what i can't get it to work very good at all. I've lost hope on doing green screen effects. usually half my head or shirt goes when i start setting similarity and stuff. There is no inbetween.

Don't loose hope!

Make sure that the sheet has been ironed and that when you hang it up it is perfectly flat, no creases.

Also when you light the sheet make sure that the light is constant. A good way of doing this is to put a light box (defuses the light to make it soft and even.

So the light needs to be even all the way on the sheet.

And dont wear anything green lol

@rockerman1080 the point of using green screen is that green is the less used colour for clothes , also if you happen to wear green clothes you can try blue screen (these two are the most used colours) , if you wear both consider changing your clothes ;P (yeah you can have other colours screens but its waste of money -if you buy-)
