It's average horsepower you are concerned with not peak. Don't let the idoits tell you other wise. You don't always run at 8000rpm, you run a column or xxxx to xxxx. Understand?
If that is little Sahara sand dunes in Utah, that could be why it seems he's lost so much power. The elevation there is around 4600-4800 feet. So that could eat up a couple of hp.
@TheTazzyT EFI will adjust so that it wont run too rich or too lean, but the higher the elevation is, the less horsepower your are going to have because the oxygen content in the air isn't as high.
DUDE! your tire treads had to of been screwing with the dyno, my outty 800 is putting 62hp to the wheels, I had it delivered and un-crated at a dyno in return that I bought a "session" from them, an hour of toying with it and seasoning the motor and it when on the ramps. DUDE! demand a do-over
Yeah, crank and rear wheel horsepower are different. Manufacturers always give crank hp numbers.
But don't let 45 rear wheel horsepower fool ya. On a 4 stroke 4wd atv, that's movin cause the torque they produce. I wish people would compare torque numbers. That's where the power is. These big bore utility atv's produce way more torque than sporties.
My renegade pushes 140 crank horsepower and 90 rear wheel horsepower. It will haul butt!
My can am motor is a 1026cc bore/stroker. 98mm bore/68mm stroke. Built by the man himself (Flynt) in Terry, MS. I'm pushing big cams, race intake, 50mm bored throttle body, race filter, full muzzy exhaust, and fuel is controlled by a power commander 3 that was tuned by John Cannon himself.
My renegade has dyno'd 140 crank horsepower and 90 rear wheel horsepower which is well more than double stock.
The 71 hp is at the crank. That's what the companies publish. They don't publish the hp that's at the wheels. This reading this guy has done is at the wheels and is what all the stock renegades run.
But don't let that low number fool ya. The torque numbers make up for the rest. That's why these things can beat any "stock" sporty.
also look that the renegade is a 4 wheel drive machine capable of going places the 400ex could never go. both are built for what they are mean to do. 400ex was created for speed, and it is very fast. the renegade is a utility quad dressed sport style so that you can go places other sport quads cant.
400ex's are beginner bikes their good reliable machines but not worth comparing to the renegade my outlander 500 keeps up to my buddys piped and jetted 400ex he'll get to his top speed faster then i will but i'll keep up
my lt250r 88 do 44 hp on dyno and reach 94 mph on the road, renegade 800 is powerfull for a 4x4 atv , but keep in mind that every racer can own a renegade !
This doesn't make sense. The factory claims the 800 makes 71hp@ the crank which would equal 58 to the wheels. And your readings are saying 45.5hp. My best friend owns a renegade 800 and I have seen 125kph= 77mph on his stock.
I can't believe that this thread has been here for 11 months and nobody has enlightened you on HP numbers. The factory HP figures are at the CRANK...these HP numbers are at the REAR WHEELS. Big difference. So, if this is a standard 800 the 44.5 to the rear wheels is it. Take 20-30% off crank numbers to get RWHP (on shaft driven units).
I have a 20% loss through my CVT on my polaris and I spent over $100 in clutch springs tuning it in. Something doesn't sound right with the Can-Am though, the CVT must be really out of tune if it's making only 45.5hp!
Properly tuned they should make around 56.8HP on the dyno which is really fast for an ATV, too bad this quad weighs so much though.
LOL? I asked the max speed. don't reply unless u got the fucking answer, stop wasting my time, and I never said I was going to buy. Jesus, wtf is ur problem?
The Renagade is a force not to be brushed off and it's the best i have ever ridden..... anyone who has been around alot of ATV'S has found out its the ONE...for all around performance it is a BEAST!
well is it all one gear or is it like is there like 2 or 3 gears..like all i'm askin..not to cause anything...i wanna buy one...top of the line 4wheeler right now and their relyable too
if u mean is it one gear once you puts it in high gear then yes, once you puts it in the gear theres no shifting. but if thats not what you mean then im not sure ;p
not at the rear wheels u dumb shit. that says it all.... you dont know shit about engines and horsepower ratings. by the time the power is transferred through the tranny, then the driveshaft, to the rear differential, to the wheels... it loses power.
Polaris? LOL. You can't spell Polaris without POS. And there's no way its making 70. Plus, it being a POlariS means it only gets about 30% to the rear wheels.
Like I said. You're comparing a manual clutch 2 stroke to a belt-driven 4-stroke. It probably has over 75 horse at the flywheel. Not to mention your ATC250R doesn't have even close to 65 unless its a 330 powervalve CT motor or something. So, STUF. You = Epic FAIL.
You guys must not know mutch about CVT's, cause anyone that races sleds will tell you that you never stop the clutches with the brake. you have to let them backshift until they disengage. I'm willin to bet every time you took off your belt was an inch down in your secondary. Not tryin to insult you just a little constructive critisim.
i race sledss, i got a 2006 ski-doo MXZ-X 800 blair morgan edition and umm well wen u race u kinda dnt have the time to let the clutch back shift, maybe if u have a sled from like 1990 but the new ones have an auto disengage at like 2800 rpm at least thats what mine has and if u dont use shitty 40 dollar belts u wont keep blowing them
Wow,... Do you eavin know what I'm talkin about???? ok, let me clear things up if you dragrace sleds you would know that you dont stop your track or in this case your rear wheels with the brake. The reason behind this is if you do use the brakes to stop them your secondary wont be able to backshift all the way and the next time you take off it will fall on its face. this will happen to any sled 90's or a brand new 08.
