We attempted a relationship 3x after I emancipated myself then gained guardianship of my younger sibling & became Mom to another child; hwr, the verbal abuse began, then his telling me how I wasn't wife/mother material, & last straw he started drinking again & I threw him out of our lives. In 30yrs, we've had maybe 5yrs, if that long, where we weren't estranged. I've only seen Mother anywhere from once a yr to once every 3-5yrs.

They're still married, have 3 kids together, & are so happy that I never see their marriage failing. They took trips back/forth visiting each other for over a year b4 he proposed. It took about another year to straighten out the visas so he could come here b/c her parents were elderly & needed her close; they loved her DH like a son

@Ms2Barbie He was a good man but wasn't able to take the MIL's abuse anymore & the daughter was so brainwashed since birth that she was unworthy of love, ugly, overweight, & would never find happiness that she allowed her mother to ruin what she could've had. Hwr, my aunt/surrogate mom met the last man she ever married & they were together for some 10-15yrs, happily married. She died from complications of autoimmune disease & heart disease 7 yrs ago; he went couple yrs l8r: broken heart.

My ex-niece (former short-lived marriage) met her DH online & they were gr8 together until her bitchy mom refused to stay out of their business. The mother is like her own mother who is responsible for the multiple divorces of all 4 of her children & a large portion of divorces of her grandchildren only the niece's mom caused her daughter's DH to walk.
