To charge the Iphone while using this dock, just plug an Apple cable/adapter into the 30 pin port on the back of the JBL On Stage II. This will apply +5v to the correct pin on the Iphone for charging.
If I get some time, I want to create a circuit that you can plug your 18V JBL power into and it will "bleed" off the 5V to needed for the charging connection.
There is a great instructable on how to make a 5v usb wall charger from a discarded 5V cell phone charger...or a 5V wall wart from Radio Shack.
The best thing is that you can then connect it to your OnStage II and the dock will also charge your new generation of iPod (tested on a touch 2nd gen, 3rd gen and 4th gen) All without having to crack open your speaker system.
Yes it requires another plug in, but at least/at last you can charge and listen through the speakers at the same time.
can you post a diagram to make the same thing? the video is too dark and the quality is bad, i can't see where you're soldiering.... please. i need to mod the onstage ii too!!! help!!!
It's good you could make it to charge but you could have explained something and you could have put more light so we could have tried to do the same, but only with this i think it's not possible.

I just got an iPod Touch 32gb for Christmas but it won't charge. =o(
I'd love to give this mod a bash! Is there any possibility of greater details in how you did the full mod?
Any help would be brilliant!
