on the part "La da di da di da di da,, the black woman is singing is she the person singing on the album or is it lennox"? and who does the background solo when the part "must be talking to an angel" is heard later on in the song?
He hit this solo absolutley spot on. After hearing other harmonica solos on this song this one has it all. Definition, a sense of purpose and direction A beginning, middle and end. PERFECT.
it´s on an sampler called: "Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute 1988"
Pretty rare, video-tapes has been merchandized in those days, don´t know about (regular & official) CDs. But ask for 1988 Mandelas 7oth tribute. There is some more great stuff!
Met Jimmy Z... well didn't exactly meet him but he was in my town and everyone was like thats jimmy z!! i didnt know who he was but now :O now i do hes awsome.
I remember this when i saw it on the TV 20 years ago, it blew my mind. The best live Eurythmics live set ever. Never heard of Jimmy Z then saw this, he plays like a guitar, Just Brilliant.
Thanks for putting this vid on...I thought it was lost forever....honestly I always rated this solo as THE greatest crossharp solo ever and there are some riffs Jimmy does which I find to this day incredible difficult. Amazing solo simply out of this world!!!!
Who is the ignorant fuck that keeps checking the thumbs down (poor comments) when Jimmy Z's
incredible talent is complimented? Obviously
must be some fucktard asshole that still cant play the harp he bought 20 years ago. Go listen to some Bob Dylan solo's. Thats up your alley. You sorry ass 1st position slacker.
I think in jazz circles they refer to a harmonica as a harp LOL ... but Jimmy Z blows a mean one whatever you call it ... and he's not bad looking either! (well, at least back here no idea what he looks like now)
I loved stevie's version of this one , but damn I luuuv this one even more...I remember the first time i heard this harmonica solo way back in the days, and i went speechless...That's great! thanks for the upload!
Steve is playing a Chromatic...so different sound and playing technique altogether....though Steve's version on the Chromatic is equal to Jimmy's on the Cross.
Jimmy is a fuckin awesome harper, and a hell of a nice guy too.Originally from Sacramento.I used to see him with a band called night owl express when i was 15.
