40 million? That number seems too high. We will have more homeless people as the economy further deteriorates. I do not believe in what the government is saying about the "recovery". The jobs are gone and will not come back to America. It looks like it will get worse.

@nesianboy 40 million might be an overestimate, but not too large an overestimate. True unemployment (and underemployment) is about 20%, there are about 200 million individuals of working age in the US. 40 million is a fair estimate.

And just like the Roman Empire, the US is filled with crippled, traumatised and/or homeless veterans, the uncelebrated memorials to past imperial campaigns.
