I sat in one of these that had the battery hooked up and honestly before I saw it in person, I thought I would hate this car but the second I saw it inside and out, it was very very nice love the interior it felt just right, I wish the roof line was a little lower and the back windows came down like a CLS/Cl mercedes that would def help the look a little but still a great vehicle over all especially for GM

Mercedes seems to be a car more for retired people, so they need an image makeover to capture the younger market. Perhaps a name change for example like Benz Motor Works or something clever like that may help increase its appeal.

If money is no object, and those are your two choices, chose the Caddy Gotblues004, for one thing GM is getting rid of Pontiac and if you ever sat in the G8...It is very cheap inside. But if price is important to you there are so many better options than the G8.

Europeans would never even consider this car bcus it's design & the whole package is not up to European tastes or level of quality or engineering. Cadillac's manager here says he expects this car will compete well with audi & merc.. but that's only his own myopic view. Only Americans will consider this car a true competitor to the European luxury makes. Europeans would laugh at what this manager of Cadillac is saying.Reason for America's failure is that they only make cars for their own market.

The CTS has the physical footprint of a 5/6 series, the 3 series is a smaller car, so it makes sense. Price wise it's a 3 series competitor though.

It looks like a Pontiac G6 coupe from the side (not a good thing).

Cadillac should never have gone to the "art and science". They should have kept focus on the older affluent buyer like it had from the early days.

Eldorado was 8 cylinder and 2 doors always. Keep it RWD and give it BMW 6 series or Mercedes Benz E coupe performance with a $10K+ discount and it will sell.

Yes it is. The last car a customer will purchase will be the best one he ever had. Money is no object and the elders are the holders of the most wealth.

They also return to the dealer for EVERYTHING (service/parts) whereas a younger buyer does a lot of DIY and modifications that ruin the car's resale value.

The dying customer base kept Caddy as the #1 luxury brand in the US until the late 20th century when the Japanese got into the game.

The reason cadillac has a dying customer base is because it stopped making cars that appealed to a younger audience. The recent art and science has revitalized the brand. Just look what happened to oldsmibile and buick(although buick is making a turn around), unappealing oldpeople cars do not spell sucess for a brand.

Everyone wants to try their hand at killing the 3 Series. Didn't work for Mercedes, Audi, Infiniti, or Lexus. It wont work for Cadillac.

The 3 Series has won hundreds of more awards than the A4, and currently sells more volume than the A4 and A5 combined.

And before someone brings it up, yes the new S4 and S5 are excellent cars, and slightly better than the 335i, but they are a full platform refresh ahead of the 3 series. It's like comparing apples to oranges really.

The original CTS was considered by many to very ugly too. I still think the original CTS was kind of ugly. I liked the new CTS, but the coupe really isn't my cup of tea. No matter how I look at it, the back seems to be taller than it should be, and the rear wheels seem too small for that height.
