Special Edition has modified physics, it fixes a couple of bugs in the original, you can actually read the text in the menus now, and it has 8 tracks taken from Wipeout and Wipeout XL/2097. Weapon pickup tiles darken when they're inactive like in XL, and there's now a next race option, instead of having to go through the menus.

It's a vast improvement, even though it doesn't seem like much.

i hate this game only cuz of the time limit they put on u to get to the next goal... racing games like that always pissed me off... nice grafix and no im not a hater... of the game... just its time requierment. sometimes u like to dick around on the track..

Ah, Wipeout 3. Boost, higher res graphics [well, when run on a PS1 [512x256 in Wipeout 3, 320x240 in XL]... although an emulator you can set the resolution to whatever], and cleaner textures are why I prefer it over XL, although that doesn't stop XL from being bloody amazing.

I always liked how 3 could easily be Dreamcast or early PS2 quality in the visuals department -- run it at 640x480 and put some filtering on the textures and you're there. Probably one of the prettiest PS1 games ever.

gorgeous looking version. Looks even better than the original wipeout 3. Always felt that the quake was too fast on this though. Wipeout 2097 / XL was better for some reason though.

I somehow couldn't make it work on Epsxe, then I tried your setting. And wow, I don't know how but it worked, and it looks fantastic, emulation makes game you like even better. Thank you ;)

@southport97 Wipeout XL is much better then Wip3out. XL is more "realistic/believable", has better colors (love the blue afterburner), graphics, and design style. Wip3out is very bland in colors by comparison as you can see. However, Wip3out has an in-cockpit view which is neat. I

@southport97 Many video gamers and reviewers swear by that claim.However,WO3 has little/minimal pop-up,hi-res graphics throughtout creating a level of detail rarely seen in a PS racing games,dual shock analog and link cable support(a series norm).Even in 2-Player mode the graphics retain the same level of quality as the single player modes.

@TronicGames Sure! Video is Petes OpenGL Driver 1.76 1920 x 1080 res, Texture R8G8B8A8 - Filtering 6:Extended + smooth, Hires 2:stretched Gfx vram Auto.

Tick Use FPS limit & Use Frame skip & autodetect FPS.

Compatibility Off Screen 3, Framebuffer Tex 3, Framebuffer Acc 4.

Tick All 3 boxes to the right. Finally I tick Color dither & screen smooth.

For sound I use PEOPS Dsound audio 1.9 Tick all except SPU IRQ hack.

In configure I have it set to 2 2 0 & 2. everything else default.

@macwhoelse CDrom plugin I use Mooby 2 cd disk 2.8

I have a tick on repeat all CDDA tracks & enable subchannel & use new caching

CDDA Volume is max as is the Cache size. :)

What OS are you working on and what sound plugin do you use? I've made a BIN image of my original W3SE but the damn thing won't play the music, even with the settings for CD plugin you are using. It's driving me nuts.
