Y'know, when I saw the band name's font and album cover, I was sure this was going to be some mediocre metalcore/deathcore band... I'm glad I was wrong.
@dudhala21 theres sub-genres of jazz, rock, pop, country, rap, and pretty much everythin so u cant just say u want metal or not. theres always gunna be genres branching off of those base genres, its just the way music is, nothin to get upset about.
@execution No no i respect that, it brings diversity into metal and thats awesome. But i personally hate it when it gets to overdone with one good thing. Breakdowns is a good example. The fact that how every band has like 10 of them in every song ruins the meaning.
@dudhala21 ya i know exactly what you mean, thats why i listen to the bands that "were" good, and then i just listen to other music thats good. death metal isnt good anymore
@seehound619 Eh I disagree. I use genre to categorize what I listen to, Just saying Metal is very broad and if I want to be specific about explaining my tastes, then I use genre. At the same time, I don't stir up a storm if someone says the genre wrong and I don't go raging and trying to correct people about genre. I don't think that makes me a poser, I just like to be more thorough and specific in my explanations about what I listen to.
I'd definitely call it a genre, as there's some very technical and talented deathcore bands out there, if you look outside of the binary code riff bands.
@dudhala21 *I hate all these made up genres. Its either Metal or not. Straightup.* I used to think this many years ago, but I have since changed my mind as there are so many variations that it's not simply metal like it was in the 80's and early 90's (even then it was changing). Without some rough form of dissemination how do you differentiate?

Its either Metal or not. Straightup.
Deathcore, grindcore and whatnot are just branches off the major roots.
And sorry to say, not all deathcore is great. Fucking scene kids steal everything.

@dudhala21 agree 200%....... only posers worry about what "genre" something is... it either brutally pounds or it doesnt....the end.

@DMU555 Exactly, you wouldn't tell someone they were being a 'faggot' if they said Jazz Fusion or Jazz Blues as apposed to just Jazz.

@ATtTheGates No I wouldn't.

@dudhala21 Actually I wouldnt call "deathcore" a genre but rather a word used to classify sucky death metal bands...
kolliasmalmsteenown 6 months ago
@kolliasmalmsteenown Meh. Deathcore needed a sub-genre...it's a different sound entirely.
